mid year stats… skip if your eyes roll over at the thought of numbers.

of the games I’ve played in 2019 so far I’ve completed 8 games and beaten 19 (also dropped 11).
looking at the licenses page on steam (removing DLC) I’ve gained +28 games to my backlog…I barely feel like I’m making a dent in my backlog but hey if you include dropping titles I didn’t like I’m down 10 games. - progress!

Also if you take my unplayed+unfinished from September (171) and my current UP+UF (133) I’ve made a solid 38 game dent in my backlog.
Its not nearly enough and if I follow my current pace it will take years before my backlog is gone. :/ (~20% ~5 years?)
my gaming resolution for 2019 was to halve my unstarted and unfinshed games this year. (from 80 down to 40) and (66 down to 33)…and 5 months in I’m at (57 and 76)
soo… 58% of my unstarted goal and like -30% of my unfinished goal

OOF.

The reason for this goal was to not just shove all my games into the unfinished category and to equally work on my unfinished stuff… I’m failing in that regard. maybe 50% was too optimistic but -30% is worse than even maintaining 0%… I guess I can look to the 18% overall decrease as a positive even if its againsed my goal…anyways on to games.

Played since my last post.

Detention: is a horror point and click game with cool effects and graphics but a tendency to fail in the standard adventure game way…by making nonsensical puzzles and forcing you to break out a guide at times.
for example: At one point you need to read stuff scribbled on a desk…so you find a dead body hanging by his feet and slit his throat with a box cutter to fill a bowl with blood and use that to do a charcoal(blood substituted) print of the desk…thoroughly creepy but what? how was I supposed to figure that out

ahh…I thought I could do this game.
honestly Ik its the point of it but I reached a so called check point where a L ledge protected you from falling back down and then while trying to get up past it fell all the way back to the bottom and rage quit…

Yeah, I can understand why you dropped Getting over it. I, too, never tried it, because I know this kind of game would only make me mad!

Also, as you stated, there is enough other stuff in your backlog which you can work on :) The years not over, so don’t give up yet. I guess almost all of us have backlogs that are not really realistically completely beatable in the near future. But we can still work on them nonetheless!

since I joined over 2 years ago I’ve limited my buying of games immensely to mostly only include bundles I get weak for…its letting me show progress but not doing enough to help me fully beat it.

the whole point of Getting over it is to create level design choices specifically as dick moves. Figuring out the most effective way to fuck you over and doing so is its goal and its as effective as it wants to be.

I’ve never heard someone describe Getting over it like that, but I guess that’s a pretty good description. And makes me feel even better about skipping it :D

Aw… at least you tried playing! Thanks for that :D
