Monthly Update #5: September

I finally managed to trade for Farm Together!

So yeah, most of this month is again like last month, more focused on a few large, time-consuming games. >.>

Virtual Reality - Space problems

I've been seriously considering getting VR for awhile now (as some of the games I have activated/traded for recently have shown :P), the only problem is trying to figure out how I can set it up! The room my computer is in has no room, and the closest room I can set it up is probably 3-5 metres away. Anyone have any experience with VR and their set ups? I might wait a little longer and see reviews about the Vive Cosmos and if the Valve Index actually releases in Australia... Apparently the original Vive is also being phased out. Who knows what I'll do though!

So, most of my month has been spent playing Farm Together. It's a cute game and I enjoyed it. However I've now marked it as Beaten. Why? It has gotten to the point where the endless grind ahead has made me no longer feel like playing. The last few hours I spent editing game files to change the farm terrain, but the amount of currency you need to make a pretty and functional farm would take hundreds of hours of endless grind. The game play encourages you to afk or come back hours later, then repeat. At the 50 hour mark, I'd had fun, but yeah.. I don't want to spent a few hundred more hours just to unlock more areas :P But for 50 hours of gameplay where I had fun, it was a worthwhile game to get in a trade!

Played

So this month has definitely been taken over by Farm Together and Deep Rock Galactic. After playing the free weekend, a friend and I got suckered in and have been playing whenever we are both free! It's a fun game :) I also played a little bit of some other games, such as Crafting Block World, Crazy Plant Shop and Blockwick 2, but not enough to record it :P

Nothing to see here.

Backlog Additions

I went through a lot of my older keys (mostly from Humble), and decided to keep a fair few of them. I was debating on whether to trade/giveaway a few, but ultimately...more to the backlog :P The Deep Rock Galactic Free Weekend was fun, so a friend and I ended up buying it. Forager ended up releasing more achievements recently, so that's been added back to the backlog. Some interesting games from trades this month as well!

And just to end the month on a high note, I managed to get NieR:Automata from Kinguin's Crazy Free Weekends! After not bidding for anything for months, I decided to just enter the lottery as games I thought I'd like came up. Entered for Nier, went to bed. Checked it the next day and it was in my inventory! Pretty stoked about that.

Wow, you did get a fair share of new games! And here I am, complaining that I got +4 games on my backlog. LOL.

I hope you enjoy Slime Rancher as much as I did! (When you play it, obviously :P)

And from what you’ve said, I think Farm Together is a no for me. I rather not spend real life time on my crops.

Jaded

Haha yeah juuuust a few!
I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played so far of Slime Rancher, but of course got distracted this month :P

Yeah Farm Together is alright but better to just not get sucked in to start with.

aonrao

I’ll still play it if I somehow win it on SG probably, but not going to buy it. There are a lot of other games worth more attention :p

Jaded

Yeah exactly! I wouldn’t recommend buying it. Although I still got 50 hours out of it so… meh! Luckily I just traded a couple of random bundle keys I didn’t want for it :P

aonrao

I think 50+ hours is pretty decent! I have maaaybe 3-4 games that I’ve played over 50 hours :P

Jaded

lol you need to get those hours up :P
I have a fair few games I’ve played over 50 hours… Most of them MMO’s.
Guild Wars 1 is 10,000+ >.>

aonrao

I don’t have that type of games probably. I could play Slime Rancher more, but after playing it for 40 hours during the summer (in 1 or 2 weeks) I’m kind of not in the mood for it still! And My Time at Portia requires a lot of time as well–I can’t just play it for 30 mins and then be done for the day. So… shrugs

But Oxygen Not Included is slowly building up! :D

Jaded

Ehhh multiplayer games are the easiest to get more hours in. MTaP will definitely take a long time though!

You seem to be enjoying Oxygen Not Included then!

aonrao

Yes, I am :D

skanda

the only problem is trying to figure out how I can set it up! The room my computer is in has no room

The Oculus Rift S has built-in tracking so you don’t need external cameras mounted anywhere. You still need space to move around in (depending on the game), though, so not sure how to solve that particular problem. :)

Jaded

Obviously I just need to move my desk into the living area! Easy fix :P

adil

That Farm Together game looks really nice. Too bad it also doesn’t look like I’d have the patience to play it up. I am already really annoyed with the real time waiting to craft stuff in My Time In Portia. Why do they put mechanics like that in their games? D:

Jaded

Yeah the real time waiting is a bummer :(
It’s OK if you plan to play other games and make it a daily thing, but then its a chore and not fun. >.>
At least with MTaP you can go to sleep for the day haha!
