I returned to SteamGifts this month after a nearly 2 year absence. There were a lot of unredeemed keys in my Humble & Fanatical libraries; many of which I created giveaways for, and a few I decided to redeem myself after a period of indecision (often lasting several years) over what to do with them. Also added were three games from Fanatical’s Build Your Own Cozy Games bundle (still available for one more day, at the time of writing), one from a recent Humble bundle, and Neo Cab, gifted by Teleute, my first SG win since my return. 💙

was looking for something casual, as those are easier to start than the meaty Real Gamer™ games. i like puzzles but can only play so many in one sitting, so this one remains unfinished. it is very cute though.
took the plunge and requested my first Challenge Me! this month. Kyrrelin gave me some great choices and i started with this one, as it was the shortest (lol). it's a very cool and stylish puzzle game with a light wordless narrative and a great soundtrack, so i assumed i'd get stuck right in. unfortunately i had the same issue with the uninterrupted puzzling as Cats Organized Neatly and finding myself needing to take breaks, either out of frustration with the timed mechanics or being unable to figure out the solution. i did manage to reach the end before the month finished, and the missed achievements look easy enough to return to at a later time.
i'd recently installed this before asking to be challenged, and finally started playing after getting frustrated with puzzles, haha. it's by the same studio that made Regency Solitaire and uses the same playing card mechanic to do battle with opponents on your quest. i ended up pretty far into the campaign, but it's fairly challenging to hit some of the goals even on relaxed mode, so i've stalled a bit on my progress.
"why do you have over 400 hours in a dinky casual game," you might ask.
a) it's surprisingly fun
b) after you beat the game (maybe before? i don't remember) there's a daily challenge that will give you credit towards unlocking skins for NPCs
c) there are other ways to challenge yourself, like re-running the levels with boosted difficulty. i also like to see how fast i can reach the end - there's a pretty low ceiling for that, but that hasn't stopped me from trying 10+ times lol

400h on you must build boat ! That’s real dedication !

nah, i just think it’s a fun game!

Play or Pay might be of interest if you want others to pick some games for you every quarter

thanks but the “or pay” part kinda puts me off

You have 3 months to complete a minimum of 2 games out of 7 picked for you, they can be the 2 shortest (sub 2 hours) and the site aids tracking so risk of being forced to giveaway is really very minimal (particularly if you curate your lists).
Welcome back! I didn’t post regularly at first, either. You’ll get into the rhythm soon enough! Or if you don’t, maybe it’s that you don’t need to post here to feel fulfilled.
Either way, it’s always good to be here :)
thanks! this site has been very helpful even without doing periodic reports, but i’m going to try to post every so often to help me get more in the habit of writing.
