Oh that is painful to look at. With focus being on old games my backlog is taking a hit but that’s fine who cares! Currently I’m going back through yakuza and its so interesting seeing things in 0 now that I know what its like from the original games like the fortune teller for one example.
My favourite of the month goes to princess evangile w happiness. I’ve been really itching to play the games and maybe its cuz my reading got faster but I didn’t realise how short it was. Like the common route is 16 chapters long and I got to chapter 10 before coming off like not even 4 hours later. W happiness is more of a dlc then a real sequel, it gives 2 chapters extra to the main 4 girls and 4 chapters for the remaining 5 girls which takes place during the common route. Frankly its still one of the best visual novels I’ve ever played, I got ritsuko down as my background, as my discord profile, as my christmas profile. Maybe its cuz of the anime that grisaias kazami kazuki is my best girl ever but damn does my girl Ritsuko give her a run for her money

It’s always nice to find a solid VN. What initially drew you in with Evengile? The writing? The storyline?
Hmm I think part of it was being my 1st major visual novel. It released in 2015 and I brought it 5 months later. Before this I only read plain books, always focused on a girl and 1 boy interest. Having a picture in front of my whole time was a whole new world. I didn’t need to worry about the music side of things as it had in game music! It had voices. While the story now adays isn’t unique to me it was. It was my 1st time experiencing a boy side of romance and not needing to imagine what they could look like as they were all right in front of me. The fact you could change the story (which granted not much Princess Evangile) was so interesting
Everything about Princess Evangile is pretty much perfect to me. The only fault being is that the mc isn’t a real person. He’s your generic stand in boy that 90% of the time won’t have eyes in the cg. I love the music, I love the storyline and every character there is so interesting. Its great that they made the w happiness game, it may not be fully fleshed out but its so nice getting to check out the side girls, frankly any of them could’ve been final girl material. I never cared about what the characters were like in anything before, but then I saw Ritsuko and it was like woah I want to know more about her. You really grow to care about these characters to the point that I couldnt help but cry yet again at Ayakas ending which other then a certain life is strange ending does not happen!!. Even a few days later of not playing it, I have been singing the theme song to myself all day because its so good
Honestly if I could only pick one visual novel to play ever again I would gladly pick it and play it all the time
