Another sg win down

1st game beaten for December

Valid entry for the monthly theme

I don’t know how to start this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so let’s go straight to the important stuff:
had this wishlisted and was lucky enough to win the Arctic Collection but, as usual, I’m happy for the new game acquired but I don’t install as I get it and time passes.. don’t know why but I try only few games I’m interested in; I see them in my library and think “Oh, I HAVE to play this soon!” and then it stays there for who-knows-how-long while I try other games. first world problem, I know, sorry. Look here, the intro’s made! :D

Back to the game:
I think I may have been a bit too hyped about this by others; this is not by any means a bad game! but I was expecting something more.
They clearly researched the subject a lot to create this, hats off to them for this, it was a nice peek into an unknown culture for the most.
Gamewise speaking, the game looks nice and plays almost1 always smoothly but it’s far from being bug-free. I experienced several that forced me to redo parts. Luckily checkpoints were more than enough. On a more personal note, I found keymapping not too comfortable and the time to activate the bolas too long.
I wasn’t aware of the co-op possibility but I’ve no friends to play with so I went with the solo mode and I have to say that I’ve also died many times because my partner was led to death by its IA.

Little problems aside, game is a nice platformer, not too hard and not too long/short.
They managed to create a nice world even in such hostile ambient :)
Sounds and music were minimal, which is a good thing for this game, and conveyed the right “feeling” everytime.

I know, I tend to give more importance to bad aspects rather than good ones :\
It’s to not hype you too much, so you can’t be disappointed later =P

7.5/10

If you are looking for a good challenge do not pick this game.
If you are looking for a good platformer.. you may try it.
If you are looking for a good story, play it :)

Next up probably will be Assassin’s Creed III on Uplay (thanks Ubi) and maybe more Stardew Valley, which I had started last month and I admit it was addicting, but lately I’ve had some problems with achievements not unlocking and I paused it to soothe all those negative vibes I got from that.

Wondering if BLAEO works?
This is a quick graph showing the number of the steamgifts wins I’ve finished over time:

15 games in the 202 days I’ve been part of this project; only 5 during the 688 before I joined (890 days total).
Thanks

  1. I generally suffer from poor performances but it’s my fault that I keep chrome open with hundreds of tabs and it eats all my RAM, so I can’t be completely sure about it.

I loved the graph. BLAEO helped me a lot too. Having a kind of motivation to play like a monthly theme helps a lot. About AC3, I’ll recommend you to avoid side missions so you don’t get burn out, especially those repetitive escort and tail mission. Anway, gratz on finishing Never Alone and have fun with your next games!

malabagaa

Didn’t write it but when I joined I had almost 90% of unplayed games (88% if I recall correctly) and now is down to 74% :)
I’m liking the monthly themes so far, they surely help :)

Thanks :)
I didn’t 100% any of the previous ones right because of this repetitiveness =P

Thanks ^_^

Arbiter Libera

Use BLAEO - 4x increase guaranteed. Of your backlog slain, that is.

malabagaa

Yup ^_^

Nice Post!

I’m new here, i’m wondering how to link games like you did, it’s not in the help as far as i can see (http://backlog-deepness.rhcloud.com/help/markdown).

malabagaa

Thanks ^_^

Welcome! ^_^
Here we are not bound to markdown like on steamgifts, we can use html ;)
Sadly, there isn’t a way to add those “badges” automatically/easily (yet), so you have to add them by hand.
The quickest way is to go on any of your list containing the game you need and, once set the thumbnails view, right click on said game and select “inspect”.
From the tab that appears you need to copy the full element relative to the game. You can collapse it and then right click -> copy -> copy element.
If you know a bit of HTML, it’s a list element you are looking for. If not, it’s a portion of text between <li> and </li> tags.
To avoid this to fill the whole length of the page, you need to copy the father list element too, which is <ul>.

I know it can be hard to understand if you never seen HTML before (and I’m not that good at explaining) so, here’s the code I used to make that appear:

<ul class='games' id='games' style="text-align:center"> <!-- This is the father element, you can find it at the top of any list.
                                                             Or just copy this and keep it somewhere :) -->
  <li class="game game-completed game-thumbnail" data-item="am543v7"> <!-- This is the beginning of the element of the game.
                                                                           Look for something like this and copy the whole element -->
    <div class="title">
      Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)
    </div>
    <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/295790" target="_blank">
      <img alt="Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)" src="http://media.steampowered.com/steamcommunity/public/images/apps/295790/d7e4cec47a01b6e913e495450be669c4997d0a17.jpg">
    </a>
    <div class="caption">
      <p>12 hours playtime</p>
      <p>19 of 19 achievements</p>
    </div>
  </li> <!-- closing tag. if you copied the whole element correctly, you'll have text up to here. -->
</ul> <!-- closing tag of the father element. You need to add this by yourself -->

btw, Akantha put some nice helps into profile description :)

malabagaa

There, made a gif for you ^_^

Thankfully i’m a computer science major and know HTML ^^ Thanks for the detailed explanation!

malabagaa

Oh, good :)
Guess you can come up with whatever you like then ;)
Hopefully you’ll amaze us with some great layout :D

Nice to hear you have started playing/finishing more games! BLAEO does wonderful things with one’s playing stats. I just finished my last game for this year (still playing a few more, but don’t have enough time to finish any of them since they all need 20+ hours each), and counted a total of 85 finished games during the year, most of which are thanks to BLAEO. So happy we have this great tool to help organizing the fight against the backlog.

malabagaa

Yup ^_^
Joined a bit late ‘cause I was using Completing the Backlog and it felt sufficient when it was an active group (you know, with the ranking and such).
But here, well, we are on a whole different league! :D

Wow, congratz! I’m at 43 right now (Steam only, plus a couple more non-Steam), don’t know if I’ll get to finish anything else by the 31st.

tso184

At Completing the Backlog was where I started as well. I enjoyed the weekly count-ups, too bad it all went south, but good that BLAEO came in as an even better alternative!

I wish you a successful year of backlog slaying in 2017 :)

malabagaa

Yup, I was kind of sad at first but I’m happy we have a better alternative now :)

Thanks, same to you ^_^
