Oldest Unfinished 30

I wanted to do this challenge for quite some time and I still won’t put myself a deadline for this. However for events I attend, I will try to pick at least one from this list so I can finish these games in the foreseeable future. The list is simple. I sorted the games with “Date Added to Library” and picked the oldest and unfinished 30 games. There aren’t any games I don’t want to play here because. I also didn’t included the ones I couldn’t delete but hide. This list has a lot of fairly long games so let’s see how long will this take.

# Game Date Added to Library Playtime Notes Status
1 SpellForce - Platinum Edition 2013-01-03 11.3 h Played this offline a lot but it's time to finish the long campaign.
2 Uplink 2013-08-13 1.7 h Time to become Neo. Again.
3 Darwinia 2013-08-13 14.4 h Already installed.
4 Multiwinia 2013-08-13 2.2 h -
5 FEZ 2013-09-11 6.5 h Actually played this fairly enough but I guess I bailed it because it got somewhat complicated. Probably will need a guide.
6 Port Royale 3 2014-01-16 5.3 h This was added to my library over a hype since I like Port Royale 2 a lot. However this was kind of a disappointment like Kalypso did with a lot of IP. At least gotta try to finish the campaign.
7 Sid Meier's Railroads 2014-02-12 3.2 h Played this a lot before Steam but never finished the campaign.
8 Age of Empires II: HD 2014-03-09 24.3 h Already have the Definitive Edition as well but oldies are goodies.
9 Eryi's Action 2014-03-14 8.8 h I think I left this game because couldn't beat the last boss. We'll see.
10 Home Sheep Home: Farmageddon 2014-04-19 1.6 h I have this game since the name was Home Sheep Home 2. Somehow forgot this existed. Not anymore.
11 Go! Go! Nippon! 2014-04-22 5.2 h I don't have any of the DLC so should end quickly. Right?
12 Tropico 5 2014-05-14 71.8 h One of those rare games I pre-ordered because I really liked Tropico 4. This game has some quirks and I will need to play all over because my save files are missing. ~Sigh!
13 Skyborn 2014-05-29 5.1 h I started this but barely even remember the story.
14 Fallout: New Vegas 2014-06-24 3.6 h I'm not really fond of this game because of the apocalyptic setting. Will try my chances again.
15 The Bridge 2014-08-25 4.6 h I think I was halfway through. It's an interesting puzzle game by the way.
16 Total War: SHOGUN 2 2014-09-12 3.8 h I almost like everything about Total War games (at least the historical ones) but I always found the gameplay too slow for my taste.
17 Super Meat Boy 2014-10-26 4 h I have a love/hate relationship with precision platformers. Hopefully won't hate it much this time.
18 Sid Meier's Civilization V 2014-11-27 10.2 h One of those long games I kept for later but that later never came. Maybe it is time.
19 Tomb Raider: Legend 2014-12-01 10.2 h Started but never finished.
20 Tomb Raider: Anniversary 2014-12-01 1.6 h Started but never finished. v2
21 Tomb Raider: Underworld 2014-12-01 1.3 h Started but never finished. v3
22 DARK SOULS: Prepare To Die Edition 2014-12-25 4.1 h I'm not done with my suffering.
23 Banished 2014-12-27 0 h Played this fairly offline but didn't play much anyway.
24 King's Bounty: The Legend 2015-01-26 0.5 h -
25 King's Bounty: Crossworlds 2015-01-26 0.1 h This is basically 2 games since it also includes "Armored Princess".
26 Total War: EMPIRE 2015-03-30 3.7 h Same comment with Shogun 2.
27 Prison Architect 2015-5-17 20.1 h Peak Introversion. Almost all of my playtime is from early access times. It was good until Paradox ruined it. At least we can play the Introversion version under the betas section.
28 Final Fantasy III: 3D Remake 2015-06-16 46.9 h I like playing Final Fantasy games without finishing them. :)
29 Cities: Skylines 2015-10-04 3.7 h Again, kept it for later and that later never came.
30 Valkyria Chronicles 2015-11-11 19.1 h SG win. Actually I liked this game but couldn't pass a 1 hour-long boss fight three times so I bailed. Later I learned we can level up the units outside of main missions. Hopefully it won't be so bad this time.

Cool new challenge idea! I’m genuinely surprised you chose to play The Bridge over Puzzle Agent - I found the latter fun, and the former far too hard to complete… maybe ever.

Mitsukuni

I was like this for a moment: “Wait, Puzzle Agent is still on my library?” and then realized the other post. Well, some of the deleted games were already played and Puzzle Agent is one of them but I wanted to delete many of the Telltale games and sadly I activated them on Steam with only one key. So if I wanted one of them to be gone I had to delete every other as well. Since I played what I liked from those, it was no big deal. And I agree, it is a very fun game.

On the other hand, yes The Bridge is hard and can be mind-boggling time to time but I also find it fun. Though I probably was stuck on some hard puzzle so that’s why it’s on this list since I don’t like looking at guides for puzzle games, it defeats the purpose.

I got Final Fantasy VII on my played but not finished. Was my 7th added game. I think I saw it back then and thought oh my dad loved this game and I know its like the most well loved game so may as well pick it up. This was during a time of not really using steam though so I didn’t pay attention to what other games where there or picking them up. At least not until ffx came out and bang had to complete the collection

Mitsukuni

Heh, FFX is my reason to get into Final Fantasy as well. And since FF is like the mother of many old-school RPGs, as well as play the originals. I was actually keeping the older FF games because they can be played on my toaster laptop but I realized those times are yet to come. No need to immortalized the backlog. :)

Cece09

Yeah I grew up with ffx, like I can’t even point out how many copies I owned off it and the sequel. I mean at 1 point we had 2 copies of both games, right after I gained a ps3 it decided to release on that too so there was another and then of course it came to pc right as I joined steam.

By this point I’ve done the original 4 games thanks to the pixel remaster and own every single one away from the remake of ff7. I liked the pixel remasters much better then the 3d changes of number 3 and 4

Mitsukuni

When it released for the first time, it looked so beautiful to me. And I thought it was the peak gaming. It’s nice for Square to release it on Steam, I wish they would go DRM-free way and release it on GOG too but I guess they are just too greedy for that.

In FF community, FFX is one of the most loved games in the series, if not the most. While FFX-2 is one of the least. I assume you love both like me. :3

I still haven’t got the pixel remasters since I have absolutely no rush because of the backlog. I never played the first two games though. I’m guessing all 6 are nice for potato gaming.

FF7 remake is just too expensive with every part being $70. I wouldn’t mind to wait for a complete package.

I mean i get the hate for ffx2 (not that it deserves any) but when I 1st played it, which wasnt much because I was too young and it was to confusing for me, I loved it. I loved the opening song, Rikku is my favourite character ever (my town of salem name is after her) and the new girl was awesome to me. I remember when I finally got to the end of the game and so many thoughts were flowing in my head. I wanted to go on an hour rant about it because it wasn’t until steam I got to witness everything. The thing I hate about ffx2 is not even about the game, its about the fact its part of the updated bundle and I can’t stand the little bonus story it gives you. I mean I appreciate learning how to say Tidus but I will never forgive that video or the people who voiced it

FFX I have always said is my favourite game. I loved watching it growing up, we named all the aeons based on my family. Valefor the 1st bird was my mum. Ifrit the fire dog was my youngest brother, Ixion the lightning unicorn was the older of them. Shiva the ice queen got named after me, dad of course picked to be the Bahamut. He named Anima after his brother which is now funny seeing that anima is a lady but he was like anima is ugly and stinky gotta be your uncle. Yojimbo was named after his grandpa and the The Magus Sisters were named after my nan, his nan and his mum.

Yeah ff7 is one I didn’t buy because well its super expensive, but it also wasn’t fully out either. They are still bringing out parts and I’m not sure how they all fit together anymore but its gonna be a long time before I attempt to consider buying that. Maybe when ff25 releases

Mitsukuni

To be fair, when I first played it I didn’t understand it much either. All those mythology dump on an early teenager is heavy. I love the opening too and Rikku was my favourite as well. She’s just a madcap <3
Huh, haven’t see that bonus story. I assume it’s because of the dub? I cannot stand dub on any Japanese related media. Too bad Square didn’t include original Japanese voices in Steam release but if you didn’t know it’s possible with “Untitled Project X”. It’s more than just voices though.

Heh, must be fun family. Anima is really ugly. :)

I’m not so sure if they will merge them into one game (though cannot imagine the price if they ever do). They did that with X/X-2 but did not with XIII trilogy. Yeah, maybe 20 years later after the last chapter. That could come across to release of FF25.

Love how clean this list looks. Keep up the good work man! I have a backlog of lists like that too waiting to be played.

Mitsukuni

Thanks. Finally had the courage to make this list. If I manage to complete this list, I will feel kinda relieved and hopefully get more motivation for the newer games.

I guess your lists need some events. :)

Vasharal

I am doing it to myself instead of partaking in Play or Pay. I’m choosing games I’ve got Unfinished/Installed/Beanten.

Mitsukuni

At least your lists look nifty. ;)
And I really liked the colour spectrum.

Vasharal

Thank you! I’ve done that after getting inspired by another member. It does look pretty. 😀
