Update 148: August 2025

Summer is nearly over, where did the year go?

Half-Life 2

The WereCleaner

7.5/10

The WereCleaner is a quirky, free indie game with a clever twist: you play a janitor cursed as a werewolf, forced to work night shifts while wolfed out. The premise is simple but fun—you’ll roam around cleaning up the aftermath of your own midnight rampages, as well as tidying messes left by others. The mix of dark humor and mundane cleaning tasks makes for a surprisingly charming experience. It’s short, polished enough to enjoy in one sitting, and perfect as a palate cleanser between bigger games. Not deep or complex, but it nails its weird, cute concept.

Stray Cats in Cozy Town

Stray Cats in Cozy Town is an adorable hidden object scene rather than a full game. Your task is simple: find 100 hidden cats scattered throughout a charming town, along with a few extra items. The hand-drawn art style is cozy, making the hunt feel warm and inviting. Difficulty is moderate—some cats are easy to spot, while others are cleverly tucked away, keeping the search engaging without becoming frustrating. It’s short and sweet.

Half-Life 2

Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator

Fresh Start Cleaning Simulator is a cozy and relaxing game where you wash away grime and restore the environment, giving each level a satisfying sense of renewal. The visuals are bright and cheerful, and the overall vibe is meditative, making it easy to lose track of time while cleaning. I loved how calming the gameplay felt. That said, I did run into two frustrating softlocks that forced me to redo entire levels, I got stuck in a wall and behind a fence, which broke the flow and was pretty annoying.

Half-Life 2

Dogs Organized Neatly

7/10

Dogs Organized Neatly is a charming little puzzle game that perfectly captures the joy of its concept—arranging adorable pups into tidy grids. Each level introduces new breeds with quirky poses, making the challenge feel fresh. The puzzles strike a nice balance between relaxing and brain-teasing, never overstaying their welcome but always leaving you smiling once everything clicks into place. The art style is irresistibly cute. It’s short, sweet, and incredibly wholesome—a delightful entry in a series I already love.

Half-Life 2

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

6.5/10

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a good RPG that shines with its massive roster and engaging story. I really enjoyed recruiting so many different heroes, each with their own personalities, and the fact that the game is fully voiced added a lot of charm and immersion. The world feels alive, and the narrative kept me hooked for most of the journey. That said, the way characters and their skills are explained could have been much clearer—I often felt lost about who was truly useful. Because of that, I ended up relying on the same party most of the time.

Half-Life 2

Max Payne

6.5/10

Max Payne is a classic that shows its age. The story is still fantastic, told through stylish comic book panels that remain a highlight even today. Its noir atmosphere and bullet time mechanics were groundbreaking, and the narrative kept me engaged throughout. Unfortunately, the gameplay hasn’t aged well—the graphics look dated, the UI feels clunky, and I often struggled with movement. Getting stuck in walls or fighting with the camera was frustrating, and the nightmare sequences were more painful than fun due to the poor controls. Still, beneath the rough edges, there’s a gem of a story worth experiencing.

Here are the games I'm currently working on. Reviews will follow once I'm done with the games:
I've won 9 games. And got gifted 1 game, thanks PV. And activated 1 free one. I've beaten 6 games, and 4 DLC's so that makes a total of +5 for the month of August. So my yearly count is at +37 games. I did beat Max Payne, so my count on beaten old games is still at +6 for the year. Need to beat some more old games.
