MouseWithBeer

Forth week of July

It has been a pretty meh week where I didn’t feel like doing fuck all, but I still completed 3 games + I started working again on a puzzle IRL that has been sitting there and waiting for the past 6 months since I got a nice puzzle bowl to sort my pieces in made by Ninglor (thank you again, I love it <3).

Completed games

Cat President ~A More Purrfect Union~
Playtime: 3.3 hours
Achievements: 21 of 21 (100%)
Review: A really weird VN about trying to get a cat to win the presidential election and dating them. There is no lack of cat related puns in it, that is for sure. I quite enjoyed it and it runs fine on Linux.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Playtime: 5.7 hours
Achievements: 14 of 14 (100%)
Review: I started the game once before back in 2016 and I absolutely hated it because it gave both me and my boyfriend who was playing with me really bad motion sickness. I was challenged to play it by PoP and while I still got a bit of motion sickness, it was still OK and it is an OK walking sim. It has some issues with proton (crashes, graphical glitches, inconsistent framerate) but it was still completely playable).
Paperbark
Playtime: 2 hours
Achievements: 25 of 25 (100%)
Review: An adorable wombat walking sim. The only real issue I had with it is that the movement is a bit buggy and I wish you could control the wombat with WASD instead of the mouse. Runs perfectly with Proton.

I’m so happy to read you’ve put it right to work! <3

Paperbak looks very pretty - at least here. Maybe I should… have a look? O.o
Edit: It’s already on my WL, I’m a hero :D

MouseWithBeer

Yes, I made really good progress on the puzzle too! I hope to have it finished by the end of next week if not earlier :)

Lmao, it is a pretty simple and short walking sim but I think it is a lovely experience.

ninglor03

I would like to see a pic of it. But no need to ;)

Looks a bit like Beyond Eyes, but is not the same company. Oh well :)

MouseWithBeer

Shall take one once I set my puzzle space back up again today (its on my bed so yea…).

It does indeed, I liked Paperbark more however, no slowass walking around on long distances, just wombat appropriate (I guess? :D) walking speed on short distances :)

ninglor03

Oh SO much green! But very pretty! And I love seeing the bowl in action! <3

True, Beyond Eyes was very slow indeed. But then it would probably be weird for a blind girl to run around thinking

MouseWithBeer

I did everything that is not green already. All that is missing is just green, green and more green. Pls send help. Or come help :D

Yea, it makes 100% sense but it is also annoying at the same time :/

skanda

Pridem jaz pomagat, gib puzzle!

MouseWithBeer

Sorry, prepozno, sem lih kar zložila do konca :D

skanda

Hmpf! skanda doma cannot into puzzles because doggo (in nič prostora).

MouseWithBeer

Jst jih zlagam na postelji in ko jih ne so potleh med dvemi kosi kartona, ker čene jih tudi jst nimam kam dat :/

skanda

Where does one buy floor space? :D

MouseWithBeer

Nepremicine.net ;D

ninglor03

Well there are different shades… of green :]
50 shades of green! \o/

Oh and yes, I could totally help… somehow… you buying me a ticket? :D

MouseWithBeer

I officially hate the color green but I just finished it :D \o/

ninglor03

Haha, can’t even imagine why xD
Congrats!

MouseWithBeer

Thanks ^^

Trent

I need to dig The Vanishing of Ethan Carter out of my backlog…it’s been in my Itching to play list for a long time, just like many others.

MouseWithBeer

I can give my thumbs up for Skyrim, Her Story and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (althrough I didn’t finish it yet and I really hate the combat, but the rest of the game makes up for it) off that list as being really nice :)

Trent

Yes, Hellblade was #1 on my wishlist so I just resubbed for the monthly to get it. (And was happily surprised to see Road Redemption also). I have so many great open-world fantasy RPGs to play– it’s maybe my favorite genre, but I can’t seem to play one in under 100 hours. So I tend to stick to shorter games, for better or for worse.

MouseWithBeer

I was tempted to do that too, but in the end Samwise gifted the game to me <3
Same for sticking with shorter games. I have so many great long games, but the fact that I can complete so many shorter ones in the time it would take me to complete one of those turns me away from playing them :/

Zeruel

I personally really liked Ethan Carter. A great adventure with amazingly beautiful visuals.

Never seen Paperbark before, but after reading your thoughts and checking out the store page, it’s now on my wishlist!

Great post! :)

MouseWithBeer

I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it didn’t have so many issues with running the game and motion sickness :/ But I will go back and 100% the redux version sometimes soon too (hopefully).

Hope you will enjoy if you end up buying it! ^^

Aww, thank you :)
