January’s Stats

aka. Less than impressive start of the year

Hope 2023 started well for all of you!

In here, not much to report, played some games, finished a few, added as many thanks to some last minute gifts… So far the status is quo, which is not very good. And one of the game I put 20+ hours in seem to be bugged in the probably last story quest (and I guess I’ll have to replace it in my 20/23 list unless it gets somehow fixed). Delightful.

Thankfully I also had a lot of fun starting a cult and killing zombies, so gaming time this month was mostly well spent.

I just realized I haven’t seen you gamba in a while, actually reformed

EvilBlackSheep

Toldya. I actually haven’t gamba for the past 2 weeks.

franplants

Dang, you got all of those as gifts?? You must have the world’s coolest friends/family haha. Most of these are games I want to play too. I also just picked up Eiyuden, I literally gasped when I saw it was on sale for $3 lmao. Which was the bugged game? And how’s Sail Forth? I played the demo sometime in 2021 and found it to be pretty enjoyable. Usually sailing games end up being mega-intense and only accessible for naval buffs, so I appreciated this one being more approachable.

Edit: Oh, and I’ve been tempted to pick up Sandrock too, but then the reasonable voice in my head is like YOU NEVER EVEN FINISHED PORTIA

EvilBlackSheep

Some of those gifts were press keys too, not everything is super exciting. The bugged game was… Sail Forth. I did enjoy the 22h before that though, I just got very frustrated by the bug. The story was sort of uninteresting (to me) but the sailing was very chill.

I didn’t finish Portia either, at some point I just dropped it (even though I loved it, I guess I just had saturated a bit at the moment) but there was a good sale on Sandrock and I saw they were finally almost done with the co-op so I grabbed 2 keys (one for me and one for my other half). Haven’t played yet as we’re waiting for the coop to be out of beta.

Au contraire, that’s double exciting because it also means you’re famous enough to get press keys :-P

That’s too bad to hear about Sail Forth, though I kinda guessed it was that one from process of elimination haha. Do you know if the dev managed to fix the bug since then? Hopefully it was just due to it being a newly released game from a solo dev!

EvilBlackSheep

Not really famous, no. We’re just a small site made by a few friends who like to review geeky stuff

So yes, they did fix it. Actually the dev was really really nice about it. I had posted on the steam forum and he didn’t reply immediately so I thought it was lost, but then he came back and profusedly apologized that he was on holidays for a few days (uncessary to apologize tbh but I thought it was nice). He then made me email him my save, fixed the bug for me and sent me back a fixed save + fixed the bug he found overall on the next patch. He seems VERY reactive and for a solo dev that’s impressive. I ended up being able to finish the game quickly after that (I was almost at the end when I encountered the bug).

franplants

That’s really cool! I’d love to know the site, if you don’t mind sharing it :-)

And that’s great about Sail Forth, I’d seen the dev actively participating in the forums before, so I figured it’d play out something like that! There really are some great, attentive solo devs out there.

EvilBlackSheep

Sure, I don’t mind, but it’s in french. It’s called Dystopeek.

franplants

Google Translate + my rudimentary knowledge of French to the rescue! :D
