June 2022

I don't have much to report for June except that one of my objectives for this year (spend no more than 100 euros on games) is now in a fail state :/ Too many good bundles and interesting bargains, I guess. I'll have to be careful and seriously work on the backlog during the second half of the year if I don't want to fail all my other objectives.

  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

    3DS

    26 hours

  • Road 96

    Steam

    12 hours

  • Arcade Spirits

    itch.io

    8 hours

  • Ame no Marginal -Rain Marginal-

    Steam

    3 hours

Not to rub salt in the wound, but what was your most exciting new addition so far?

Lengray

That would be the Utawarerumono trilogy on Steam and Cadence of Hyrule on Switch as a very close second. But the most exciting addition for me this year will be Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I still have to play through 2 and its extension but that will be my objective for August.

Vito

I never played one of those myself, but I hope they’ll bring you a lot of joy :)

How did you like Road 96?

Lengray

It’s a neat story-driven game. I liked how the mini episodes are semi-randomised and how the overall narrative holds together. It’s a tad too black and white when it comes to politics but the caricatural characters make things very funny. My first playthrough took about 8 hours and I liked the game enough to play through new game + (I’m about halfway at the moment) to see the scenes I didn’t get to see the first time around and sometimes make different choices.

100 euros seemed awfully low, especially with one new big release already taking at least half of that budget, not even taking into considerations all the other small purchases that tend to happen throughout the year.

Lengray

Well, it is low but I had to find a way to limit the expansion of the backlog. With just about 800 games in my Steam backlog, 35 in the Switch one and 43 in the 3DS one, I just had to take action!
