Update 15: First week of August

After the really long posts of the last few month I’ve decided to try my hand at the weekly format. Hopefully that will reduce the time needed to make these posts XD

Games that I’ve won/purchased/was gifted

I only won one game so far and no purchases:

Onto the games I’ve beaten/completed or have given up so far:

LUXOR: 5th Passage

LUXOR: 5th Passage

no achievements

It is surely not the best Luxor game I played so far, but it is not the worst either. It was some nice fun for a few hours. Nice ingame achievments. Not sure why they are not brought to steam.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Really beautiful game. Quite disturbing in places. Only thing I did not really like was the fighting system. Especially the fights in the dark were not a favourite of mine. Could have done without that.
Not sure if I was asleep during the instructions, but I could not remember a single one and combat was not fun without knowing what to do and since you were dead after three hits there was not much room for experiments either.

Tooth and Tail

I gave up on this game for the foreseeable future. Did not get along with that game at all. You cannot command your troops to go anywhere. You have to actually run around in front of the enemy and wave your flag so that your troops attack. Did I mention that you cannot fight at all. Just not my kind of game ¯\(ツ)

Games I’m playing right now :

  • 7 Wonders: The Treasures of Seven
7 Wonders: The Treasures of Seven

    0.2 hours playtime

    no achievements

  • Homefront
    Homefront

    3.6 hours playtime

    4 of 47 achievements

8%
80%

Overall SG Wins Progress

24%
18%

So overall this means I’m -1 on my backlog journey so far.

Is it bad that when I refreshed the BLAEO page on my phone and for some reason only Luxor and Hellblade were visible I knew exactly who’s post it was? :D

I am glad you are not torturing yourself with tooth and tales anymore at least.

samwise84

Yeah well, maybe we talk too much to each other :P
But then it’s always fun and why should we have less fun XD

And see i can even listen to what you are saying. Weekly posts to lessen the workload and I stopped torturing myself ;)

MouseWithBeer

You should always listen to your mistress :P

samwise84

Yes Mistress 🤪

I remember that I saw a lot of streamers playing Tooth and Tail when it came out, but it vanished super-quickly again. I figured that’s a bad sign. Reading your short review gives some indication that it really was.

samwise84

Yeah, as I said in the post. Simply not my type of game. I’m not much for being a target and standing infront of an enemy without being able to fight back, also your troops are pretty much stupid. An enemy can attack the structure they are standing next to and they won’t do a thing. They’ll only defend themselves when directly attacked :-/
There might be an audience for that, but it’s definitly not me.

Ugh, doesn’t sound pleasant.

Not sure if I was asleep during the instructions, but I could not remember a single one and combat was not fun without knowing what to do and since you were dead after three hits there was not much room for experiments either.

MsKotor said the same thing in her review. She said it has “Batman-style combat” but no tutorial (at least on Normal). I’ve never played a Batman game so I’ll probably just die a lot and ragequit. :p I didn’t want to spoil anything else for me, but I might have to go online and/or watch some gameplay to try to see how to fight.

Why on Earth would they not show you how to play the game? Maybe not to spoil the “immersion?”

samwise84

Yeah well the “voices” warn you to focus somethimes. That’s great if you know how to do that, but otherwise your first thought is “WTF”. And they’ll warn you if someone is behind you. Great warning if you know how to dodge. Otherwise it is just empty words.
In the end fighting is okay if you know how to use it (I simply checked controlls to give me an idea which button/key does what). Problem though you can’t really test it out, because you can only fight when attacked and then it’s pretty much three hits and you are out. By the way SPOILER perma death is not a thing the darkness simply lies to you, as it does a lot of times.

Trent

Thanks for the reply…I guess I’ll muddle my way through the combat until I kind of figure it out.
