Update 17: Third week of August

Great sucess this week. 8 more games beaten/completed this week. But then I’m on vacation, so except the usual housework glares at mountain of dishes I’ve got nothing better to do.

Game was an okay shooter. Nothing special about it. Maybe a bit short in single player campaign. Sometimes I was a bit annoyed at the AI, because my supposed allies were constantly running into my line of fire or not really supporting me at all. But then I'm used to stupid AI. And then I'm not sure who had the brilliant idea to put collectibles in a shooter, but I was stupid enough to go looking for all 61 newspapers, even during firefights XD

Really liked the game. The game play mechanic with rewinding time is nothing new, but it is really well implemented here. Several times I had to scream at my screen when the clock automatically rewound because the day was over, but I had to just go into the next room to finish this level grr
It made me think really hard sometimes on how to prevent some of these murders without running out of time.
A bit annoying are some of the collectibles, that can only be obtained after getting some new skill for preventing the murders. This means constant backtracking.
Also I was unfortunate in that I could not save my game, since I was affected by an error that prevented the save game from actually saving. Devs were aware of the problem, but for some reason never resolved the issue and none of the provided solutions worked for me. So i had to play through the game in one sitting after loosing two save games beforehand :(

Not my kind of game. Found it boring for most of the game and honestly I found the story simplistic or even childish. Of course GREED is bad and why does the evil, evil protagonist have to work for such bad people. Simply give up your job and die because you cannot feed yourself anymore. At least that is what the game tries to tell you. Not the dying part, but it's the logical consequence.
Another thing that annoyed me about the game was having to walk around seemingly endless ways in that walking crawl, that they used. It was simply time consuming and pointless in my opinion.

I previously only played 6 minutes of it and I was reminded why. Ame no Marginal -Rain Marginal- is a kinetic novel, which for the most part plays in a world where it only rains. Cue here for endless panels of rain (and I mean endless, I would guess about 70-80% of the panels are just rain). This could all be made up with a great story…well in my opinion you could have done without at least 1/3 of the story since it did not give you a lot of info. Officially you have two storylines. That of the male protagonist (who never really gets fleshed out properly) and another one with Rin, a little girl that lives in the rain world (this one is slightly better).

Overall if you would have cut the story to the last 1/3 of it, which was the background to Rin, it would have been better. At least in my opinion.

A really funny and sometimes not really politically correct point-and-click adventure in 3 episodes. They don't take themselves or anyone else too seriously as you soon will learn. The whole game is completly voiced over, which is really nice. I can't tell much more without giving away the plot. You will have to see for yourself.

If there is a sequel I will definetly put it on my wishlist.

Since I played this game, when it first came out, there were some new DLC's and campaigns added. Therefore I decided to play it again for the BLAEO challenge to finish unfinished games. To be honest the game became even better than before. There are a lot of new vehicles and equipment added and also new "big" events, like a music festival, an earthquake or a blizzard. Also the new "search" tasks, where you only get the approximate location of the perp/victim were new to me. Overall I spent nearly another 17h in the game to get all the needed achievements and i loved every minute of it.

green = PoP thanks enkabard & Cjcomplex for the picks
red = Challenge Me thanks Tristar for challenging me
blue = PAGYWOSG
grey = BLAEO monthly theme

Games I’m currently playing/completing:

List of shame:

This week it is really short yeah
I won exactly 1 game and did not buy any.

So that means that for this week I’ve beaten/completed 8 games and have gotten 1 new one, which means this week it’s a -7 for my backlog and overall for the first three weeks of August, it’s +0.
So hoping I won’t cave and buy a lot more games this next week and will beat at least a few more, I might even make a dent in my backlog, even if it is a really small one.

I had a great time with 911 Operator too, the DLCs and new campaigns were fun. Although there are some issues with the game it somehow has a special place in my heart. Glad to see others enjoy this somewhat nichey game as well :)

Are your vacations over? I had the week off too, but got to start working tomorrow (Monday) again. Am not thrilled to do so, however I have to admit that I’m looking forward to somewhat more structured days again :D

Well as stated I played it the first time around shortly after it came out and I really liked it. And no I still have another week of vacation time left. I normally work in a 24/7 environment with a rotating shift cycle (2 early, 2 late, 2 night, 3 days off then rinse and repeat) , so I really make the most out of my free time. I really enjoy not having to live my life after the clock right now.
