Well, I’m very happy with my self this month. I finally managed to drop my un-played amount of games below 50%! That is a milestone for me. I’m not focused on beating all my games, but at least to try all of them and beat those I really enjoy. Probably in future it will become harder and slower since I’m staying away from some big titles in my library that I know I want to beat but also know that each of them will take more time than I have for gaming during one month… But that time will eventually come. Also I feel like I can semi-control my self in terms of obtaining new games, so I expect to see the number of un-played games continue to drop.

New games I got this month are mostly short and most of them were beaten (like Mushroom Cats, A Building Full of Cats, Ever Seen A Cat? - very pleasant small games to play with daughter). Also I’ve refused to even think about playing some of games I got for free (like ARK: Survival Evolved) and removed them from my library. I think it is one of ways to take control of my library back and lower the psychological pressure during my crusade against backlog :) The only reason why I got them is because they were free…

Games highlights of September:

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition: I was ignoring Shantae games every time I saw them. Solely based on the visual part and my opinion formed from it. I thought it was a children’s game aimed at slightly horny teenagers… Well - I was completely wrong. I finished main story (with 100% completeness) and I plan to get back to it and play all included DLCs. Playing it was a pure joy for me. Also it is my first Metroidvania and I’m re-evaluating my perception of games of this genre. 8/10 - If I knew what this game is actually like - I could buy it years ago :)

Going Under: I really liked the story (who turned out to be the main villain was a surprise for me). The story itself is very stupid, but stupid in a good way :) I liked that a lot. Unfortunately, outside of the story, the gameplay is too repetitive. Once I’ve finished the story line going through the same 3 dungeons (even albeit with options) is not that fun at all. 6/10 good for grab on big discount.

Thomas Was Alone: I bought this game on May 16, 2014 and never played it until September 2022… And I’m sorry about that. Awesome little game. Not complicated at all, very meditative, with excellent sound design. And what a great voiceover! I even became curious who gave the game this voice. It turned out to be comedian Danny Wallace, and for this voice acting in the game he received an award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. In 2022, this is still a great game for a couple of evenings. 9/10

Congratulations on your assassinations! Also congrats on cleaning up your library, I tried Ark but tbh I never made it off the beach. First time, I died of hypothermia, then I died of hypothermia again, then, too nervous to go blindly into the forest, I walked along the beach and got eaten by two tiny raptors. I uninstalled after that.

Thank you!

I tried Ark at friends house at the moment of it release years ago… And was like “meh, that is not good”. And I have no idea why I decided to grab it for free while knowing I don’t like it -_-

Congrats! Thomas Was Alone was one of the first games I played on steam and it really got me into indie games. So simplistic yet smart. Also, now I want to check out the Shantae game. I also thought nothing of it but it sounds like fun!

Thank you!

I want to check out the Shantae game

Recently I recommended to a person to play Bisohock games and he was completely disappointed after beating all of them… So now I feel some sort of obligation to add to any of my recommendations something like this: “All my recommendations are subjective, based on my personal perception and my personal playing experience. There are many people who didn’t like the game. The game itself is not perfect and have or may have flaws. Be careful and do not rely only on my words when choosing how to spend your time or money. Find out more about the game in other sources before making your choice.” :D

hah I feel you. I always worry when I write reviews that someone will take my recommendatdions and regret it. No worries though I do a lot of research on games I buy to make sure I’ll like them. Or I just get them in trade/ on sale. Hope you enjoy your next batch of games!
