I didn't play much in July but did some serious soul-searching. Without going into details, the conclusion is that video games simply use up too much of my free time and I can't keep up with the growth of my backlog. For those two reasons, I've decided to leave SteamGifts, stay away from games deals websites and just take my sweet time enjoying the games I already have. An immediate consequence is that I'm going to fail the 2022 goals I had set for myself, which were all about numbers. I'm going to scrap the lot and replace them with the simple wish to finish the year with fewer games in my backlog than I have now.

I wish you all the best :) Don’t let numbers control the fun you have with video games. Some soul searching can work wonders. I hope you stay on this site, but should you not post here anymore I want you to know that I always enjoyed your reviews and hope you continue to play a lot of great games :)
Thanks! I absolutely want to stay on BLAEO since posting about my progress and reading about other members’ keeps me motivated. I appreciate your words about my reviews. I always tried to word them in a simple and fair manner but recently found it too time-consuming considering nobody reads them after a few weeks. So I just write the odd reviews on Steam and link to them in my posts. If one day BLAEO makes it possible to tag games to a post and has a search feature, I might start seriously writing again.
Good luck! Consider deleting some games out of your library you no longer want to play if it’s too overwhelming. I went through mine and found a odd number of games I added in 2016…
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I did that years ago when I joined BLAEO and have been very careful with the new additions. So I guess the only solution is to beat more games and add fewer.

I try my best to lower my presence on SG, but there is always something that lures me back… ^^ But I feel little better than a few months ago about it, so there is still some hope for me. ;)
Thanks a lot. I tend to be passionate about my hobbies and regularly lose perspective so that thinking time was helpful. Regarding SG, I find little interest in the site these days and missing out on bundles will be healthy for my backlog and my wallet.
Sometimes it’s helpful to slow down and look at some “problem” from afar, it helps us to gain a different perspective which can then make us more happy. :D
Yeah, I can understand that… I was spending a lot of time on SG and instead of fun I felt drained and moody. I have realized that I am putting my energy into something that doesn’t bring me happiness so I thought about leaving… for now I am somewhere in the middle, just luring around from time to time. :)
And bundles, yep, I feel you. I managed to stay clean some months and then I just can’t resist… my fault for checking those sites even though I know I won’t be able to resist. ^^ Luckily I am not that kind that has to own everything. ;)

I try to focus on the fact that I am writing the reviews for myself, so I know after many years what were my thoughts about the game. ;D
