Report #80: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

#7 for the month

The Journey reached a milestone but not yet the end… Wow this game is great. Has been a long time since I played such a rich RPG like Witcher 3. And I would have never thought by the start of the month that I might finish it in November, ok not yet finished completely, but the main story is beaten. This will me not stop continuing to play it. I have a lot to do in Vellen, Novigrad, Skellige, etc. to fill at least another 30 hours. And then there will be the DLCs which I don’t have in my library, yet.
Not sure if I want to play in highest difficulty. According to the wiki there are a total of 3 endings. I reached the good ending, wohoo Ciri is now a Witcher, too and I want to experience at least one other ending. But I fear that I won’t like the game anymore, if I die too often ;)
We’ll see.

Forsaken

This is definitely one of the best games ever and my most favourite RPG of all time. I still need to finish Blood and Wine DLC though, I left it somewhere in the middle of it. And I really should try Deathmarch for 100% completion but I really hate the combat in Witcher 3. I don’t feel comfortable at all and I feel like I’ll die all the time. If meditation replenished your health I’d try it but that isn’t available on Deathmarch.

That was also the ending I got including Geralt being alone and dumped by both Triss and Yennefer because I am keeping him for me :P

Did you like Gwent?

IcyGlare

I have a “no romance” policy when playing games because most of them are cringey (cough) Dragon’s Dogma (cough) or just lame. Geralt+Yen was the exception. :p

Forsaken

Why did you have to remind me that horrible Dragon’s Dogma scene? :P :P :P I need brain bleach now! As for romancing in Witcher, it was all part of my sinister plan :D I read spoilers about the consequences of the romantic relationships and while I love Yennefer and I believe they belong together, I romanced them both on purpose so they would dump Geralt for good. His heart would be so crushed and he’d lose so much hope that he’d come crawling back to me ;) All done on purpose :D I love roleplaying :)

Forsaken

Ok, that cutie definitely did the job :D :D

Daerphen

I didn’t use meditation much to replenish my health. Perhaps this makes it easier for me to play on Death March.
No honestly I hated Gwent. I tried a few games but I never won a single round, except the opponent skips right at the start of the round. I always run out of cards and the opponent always has the better cards.

Forsaken

Aww that’s unfortunate. I really loved Gwent :( Once you get a couple of decent cards, it’s so easy to trick AI into using all their cards and they have nothing left for remaining rounds :P

Daerphen

mhm, I guess the AI always had those couple of decent cards as I sometimes used all but 2 or 3 in the first round. Maybe I try it again someday in a new play through with Gwent difficulty lowered to the lowest. I just don’t get it how to play it correctly. It always feels like my cards are pure rubbish whereas the enemy always has so nice cards.

codasim

U hated Gwent,… Wha!?
I found Gwent to be interesting and fun to go hunting for other cards.

IcyGlare

Deathmarch! is difficult early on but it becomes easier the deeper you go into the game. Igni and Quen also make it easier.

Daerphen

Yeah, I read that once you reach Level 15-20 it is as easy as on normal. I used Quen a lot and Igni as well, so I am used to those signs already.

Forsaken

I found Igni to be effective only in early game. Towards late game it became totally useless for me so I bought one of those potions that resets my skill points. I put everything into Quen and Yrden :) Igni was my favourite sign but during DLCs it was replaced by Quen :D

I “might” try Deathmarch on NG+ after I’m fully done with Blood and Wine. Danis says if she can do it, I can definitely do it too but I doubt it haha :D

Daerphen

I used Igni even in the later boss fights. But without using ability points for it. Almost every points went into melee-fighting. And Quen

codasim

OH man when finally the DLC’s get cheaper I will have to replay this game.
Thanks for reminding me :)
Congratz on beating the game… almost..

Daerphen

I was hoping for a discount on the expansion pass. If you purchase the DLC’s on sale right now you save 2.5€ if bought separately. Perhaps in the next christmas sale.
