August 2023 report

After seeing a few other people do it, I’ve decided to give reporting at the end of each month instead of each individual game a try.
August has been quite a productive month.

  • Decided to finally mark a few games as won’t play, seeing as I’m simply not skilled/patient enough/don’t like those games/am stuck/not interested.
  • Tried a bunch of random games instead of sticking to the game I’m playing.
  • Finished a couple of games that were unfinished for ages.

Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online

7/10
21.7 hours
42 of 50 achievements

I've got a weakness for cute anime games, especially the neptunia series because it's full of jokes, puns, and breaking the 4th wall.

In this game you play as the goddesses playing an online mmo. The goal is to beat the main story and, oh, save the gameworld while we're at it.
It's fun, but also quite grindy.

Half-Life 2

Disney Epic Mickey 2

22.8 hours
21 of 44 achievements

This game has been quite a ride: Started and stopped playing it quite a lot of time; including on the PS3 because I got frustrated.

It's an ok game, it's a lot of fun and I love disney.
However, Oswalds AI is at times so damned annoying, it rarely does what I want it to do which makes it quite frustrating.

All in all a happy disney game, and, it's finally completed. :)

Half-Life 2

Oozi: Earth Adventure

6,5/10

Fun little 2d platformer

Half-Life 2

Koala Kids

5,5/10
6.8 hours
11 of 17 achievements

It's another 2d platformer. It's not bad, I just didn't like it.

Half-Life 2

A Normal Lost Phone

7,5
3.5 hours
13 of 13 achievements

Short little game where you have to figure out what happened to the owner of the phone you found. Surprisingly fun

Half-Life 2

Monster Prom

6.8 hours
3 of 52 achievements

I've reached the ending twice, so I consider it done, even though I don't have a lot of achievements

Half-Life 2

Turbo Golf Racing

0.2 hours
no achievements

Played 1 round and the tutorial. Guess that makes it beaten.

Half-Life 2

My Coloring Book: Food and Beverage

0.1 hours
35 of 35 achievements

Well, not much to say really. It's a coloring book 'game' with achievements.

Half-Life 2

Bit Blaster XL

3.7 hours
2 of 17 achievements

Played it for a bit. It's endless, so I kinda consider it beaten.

Half-Life 2

Withering Kingdom: Arcane War

3.7 hours
no achievements

This game is bad. Won it. Played a round. Nothing else to it, really.

Currently playing:

Half-Life 2

Coromon

Half-Life 2

SENRAN KAGURA Bon Appetit!

I thought this was done. Turns out it's not.
It's a fun rhytm game burried underneath lewt pictures of girls.

Half-Life 2

Unicorn Tails

1.3 hours
no achievements

Not quite sure what to think about this game.
You're an unicorn, and have to figure out what happened to the unicorn island.

Half-Life 2

Alchemist Adventure

39.3 hours
13 of 32 achievements

Been playing this game on and off since Early acces.

Cute little game

Half-Life 2

Puyo Puyo™Tetris®

A crossover between puyo puyo and tetris.

*abandoned*
Half-Life 2

Half-Life 2

Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms

5,5/10
603.8 hours

I'm finally getting over my idle games addiction. Had a short fall back, but decided I really don't like idlers.

Half-Life 2

BIT.TRIP Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien

9.8 hours
13 of 26 achievements

I've been playing this game on and off for years. Currently stuck at a stage where I've got trouble with the timing, so will probably be abandoned for a while again.

Half-Life 2

Asterix & Obelix XXL

2.0 hours
5 of 28 achievements

It's not a bad game, just not in the mood to play it I guess

Half-Life 2

Euro Truck Simulator 2

1 hours
2 of 82 achievements

So, I don't have a driving license for a very good reason.
Kept on hitting other stuff, drive against traffic, and what not.
Also lack the patience to sit through all the long routes

Half-Life 2

Big Fish Legend

0 of 12 achievements

Another 2d platformer I randomly tried.
This one just isn't for me

Half-Life 2

Outland

16.1 hours
3 of 12 achievements

I want to finish this, I really do.
But after trying on and off for years I think it's time to admit I'm simply not skilled enough to do so.
Will probably keep on coming back in the hope of finishing it, someday.

Half-Life 2

Doodle God: Alchemy Jam

0.3 hours
no achievements
Half-Life 2

The USB Stick Found in the Grass

0.2 hours
0 of 3 achievements

I want to like this game, however, I dislike it for messing with my actual harddrivve and having to use my own programs in order to open files, instead of having it all done in-game.

Half-Life 2

Barnyard Mahjong 3

3.7 hours
no achievements

A not-so-goodlooking mahjong game, I believe it's mainly aimed at kids.

Half-Life 2

Ball of Wonder

2.6 hours
2 of 36 achievements

The concept is great. It's an arkanoid like puzzle game.
However, in reality it takes forever to hit the last brick and I just lost my patience with it. Got plenty of better games to play.

Half-Life 2

Ball laB

0.1 hours
8 of 20 achievements

This game is simply to hard for me. I admit defeat.

I also prefer posting individual games when I feel like it over this wall of games of which I hardly remember some.
devonrv

I’m simply not skilled enough to do so

I think it’s more that Outland just doesn’t have a good difficulty curve, so it doesn’t properly prepare you for the challenging parts. I beat it several years ago on my brother’s Xbox 360, and I remember the whole game being very easy and boring until the end/final boss, where it suddenly gets a massive difficulty spike out of nowhere.

Yindy

Thanks! Will probably get back to it at some point

I’ve decided to give reporting at the end of each month instead of each individual game a try.

Yeah I like to do this because it takes up less of my time but mostly because it makes me look like I’ve been completing more games than I have lol You’ve done a lot of progress though, congrats! I also recently marked a lot of games as “wont play.” There’s no use wasting time on games that aren’t enjoyable when our backlog is so big

Yindy

I see what you mean, I was quite surprised by the progress this month.

And exactly, there’s no point wasting time when I know I won’t enjoy a game.
Generally try to play at least 30 mins of games I don’t know before marking them as won’t play, though

Zelrune

Congratulations on all of your assassinations! I personally greatly prefer end of month reports, it makes backtracking and looking at what I’ve done and will do a lot easier.
mmm Hyperdimension, or Cyberdimension games. I played the first, loved it, then the second, which I didn’t like, and then never got into the third game even though i’m fairly confident I own it.

Yindy

I can see why you didn’t like 2. It’s not the best game, but the series kinda grew on me.
The humor and writing is enough to keep me interested and play a game once in a while. The neptunia games, at least the ones I’ve played, aren’t the best but they’re cute and fun.

Kinda like a comfort snack I guess :)

Re: The USB Stick Found in the Grass. I don’t remember how I got it but I have it in my library, and the other day I wanted to give it a try since the concept sounds interesting enough, but after reading many online complaints similar to yours, I too found the execution very discomforting. One day I might even move it from my “Never played” pile to the “Won’t play” one.

Yindy

What you just wrote is pretty much exactly what happened to me.
Got no recollection of buying it, mail says it’s an activated code so probaby a bundle. Got intrigued by the concept. Installed and played a little but the thought of it messing with my actual pc instead of a sandbox/game mode/whatever makes me feel uncomfortable and is the main reason it’s in my won’t play pile.

xurc

Yup, it’s from Humble’s Ukraine bundle: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/usbstickfoundingrass/info/

And I just dug up another game from my memory called A Normal Lost Phone. I haven’t bought or played it and know practically nothing about it, but I’m bringing it up because of the superficial resemblance of their titles (and possibly concepts) and hopefully you’d find it interesting maybe.
