End Of 2025 Review!
Looking at the stats, I was a little disappointed in the small amount of games I beat. I beat 19 Steam Games. This is 4 games less then last year. BUT, those are just the steam games! I was a previous user of the PC game pass. I’ve since cancelled that, so that will be more focus on the backlog. I’ve also started collecting and playing retro games on old consoles! I’m attempting to play at least one retro game a month! Lastly, I just bought a PS5 for my boyfriend on his birthday. He bought me some PS5 games as well so I’ll be playing that as well 😅. So many games, so little time.
I didn’t beat any games in December, so instead I’ll do my usual 2025 recap and stats! These will be Steam games only, everything else I mentioned is excluded. I hope everyone had a great year. For those who didn’t, I hope this year is much better!
Favorite Games Beaten This Year
I beat this game plenty of times in 2008. This remake does it a great service while adding some new content. Am I upset about the changed soundtrack? Very much so. The charm, the unsettling feelings, and the nostalgia I get from playing this is still present and I enjoyed it.
Yes I cheated by putting two favorites. Stray was really unique. As I said in my review, this game had to be made by a cat lover. The stray cats actions, movements, and little details were so accurate. The graphics were great, the setting felt authentic and the story tugs at your heart strings.
Favorite Runner Up
I don't know if this counts, but I finally deciding to mark this as finished. As you can see, I've sunk a lot of hours into it. It's a runner up and not a winner, because the modding content/community is what makes this game so good! The vanilla game is quite the disappointment. It provides very little songs and then charges you money for each additional song and song pack you want to play. I wouldn't recommend it honestly.
BUT, if you mod the game, you can add your own songs and maps that other players have made. Thats where the fun begins. The game is great exercise, its a lot of fun. I wish more songs got added more often, but I'm picky about the maps. This is really the only game I play on Vr due to my VR motion sickness.
Least Favorite Game Beaten This Year
These games are cheesy, we can be honest. Still, the game before this one had charm and the actors had chemistry. This sequel is devoid of all of it. The dates are all stereotypes, the actors and characters have no chemistry. The dates felt terrible to be on. I didn't want either protagonist to find love with any of the options.
Nothing against the actors of course. This just wasn't for me.
Biggest Surprise This Year
This is the last game in the To The Moon series. This game surprised me because of how much it hit me emotionally, even though I've been dipping my foot in and out of the series since the beginning. I did play all the games eventually, but I had very little recollection of the story as a whole. This cheap, short little game, reeled me back in gently with a sweet game about friendship, love, and a vacation with people you care about.
Biggest Disappointment of the Year
I actually had so many answers to this category. I normally have zero expectations when playing games, but most of these had some exciting potential. Some games that almost made this list are: Road 96: 0, Stray Gods, Fireside Feelings, Resident Evil Village, Kind Words 2, and Control. Some were sequels that didn't live up, others were just my expectations that weren't matched. Most of these have great reviews. The indie games weren't bad, and I did still enjoy CONTROL and Resident Evil: Village. I decided to choose Silent Hill F due to my recent obsession with the series.
I started the series recently with the Silent Hill 2 remake. Loved it. Went back and played 4 of the older games. I pre-ordered Silent Hill F just so I could play it early.
I did not enjoy the combat, I didn't really find it scary. I HATED the locked ending. In the other games I played, your actions change the ending. The story is given to you throughout the game, but the ending changes what happens to the protagonist. This game locks you into one ending the first time, and you get very little story context, forcing you to play multiple times to get different endings and uncover the story. I'm a one and done kind of gamer, so this just isn't for me.
Most Anticipated New Addition!
I've beaten a couple episodes so far of dispatch and enjoy it. I miss Telltale choice-based games so much! The humor, the characters, the difficult choice.s Sign me up!. Also, I'm starting Death Stranding 2 on the PS5 and Alan Wake 2 on EPIC. I'm very excited about these as well!
Next Time:
The next games I’ll be focusing on are SILENT HILL 4 on GOG, DEATH STRANDING 2 on PS5, EXPEDITION 33 on PS5, ALAN WAKE 2 on EPIC, and some games from my POP list. These are the Steam games I plan to play in the next 2-3 months:

Only 19 games this year!! Betcha can’t hit 20 for 2026!
Congratulations on your assassinations though, 19 games down is 19 stabs at the backlog beast!
