Weekly Update #2

I beat only two games this week, none of them legit in BLAEO standards. One is profile features limited, the other non-steam. This is mostly due to me playing Hollow Knight whenever I had time, and that game does take a lot of time. Between getting stuck in the map and dying over and over, I progressed little and wasted a lot of time. It’s fun though!

Steam Summer Sale 2019

I’m not very fond of this game. It did have a very reasonable price, but even with that, I felt like it was just not worth it. To be fair, it does have fairly good graphics, but it’s such a short game that it just left a sour taste in my mouth. (I probably should’ve checked the average time people played this before purchasing–my bad.)

It’s not a bad game, but there’s simply not much to do in it. A couple of clicks, a couple of maybe-time-consuming achievements–other than that, there’s only one thing: Work Hard Simulator (or maybe Hard Work Simulator?). It’s basically a clicking contest–you’re trying to get as much clicks as possible before you fail. It even has 5 achievements! I only managed to go upto 3k clicks and couldn’t be bothered to try for 5.

Anyway. It could be checked out, but don’t expect too much out of it. The story itself wasn’t that great either. Not bad, but just mediocre imo.

Non-Steam

Playing this game is cheating, since it’s not available on (apparently) anywhere anymore. I’ve tried to find it, but it’s not on Steam store (and from what I’ve seen, hasn’t been on the store since 2016), so I’ve resorted to pirating, unfortunately. I’ve been playing this since last week with my boyfriend, and it has been fun! I wish it was longer though. Three chapters was definitely not enough for us.

You have to defeat enemies by spelling words with the letters available to you. As the game progresses, your character (Lex the Worm) also gets higher health, more defence, and more hit power–with some potions and relics to support him throughout his journey. It’s basically a spelling game, but was a lot of fun. Since it’s a kids game, it’s not very hard, but we still managed to die a couple of times. =P

If anyone knows any game similar to this, please tell me in the comments! Would love to play more of such game. =)

Made Progress

I absolutely loved this game! I previously played it through family sharing, but couldn’t get past the first 2 hours of it, so I just uninstalled and never went back to it. During the summer sale, a friend gifted it to me as a birthday gift, as he loves the game so much and wanted me to play it. And I’m so thankful for that! If it wasn’t for him, I would’ve never went back to Hollow Knight and missed out on so much.

It’s not an easy game for sure, but it’s also not too hard. It’s possible to progress in the game in several different ways, as there’s no single path set for your character. The map does prevent you from accessing some places/things before you’re advanced in the game enough, and this does get frustrating at the start, but it’s not bothering me anymore.

I had 3.5 hours on it last week, ans this week I’ve bumped that number by adding 10 hours! I think I’ll continue playing this for a while. =) Do recommend!
I also have a lot couple screenshots up on Steam for this one.

I didn’t progress much in this game, mainly because of playing Hollow Knight all the time. Cool puzzle game where you have to move blocks to make other blocks touch each other. Not too easy, not too hard–just how I like it. I’ve been playing the first two levels alone, but around the middle of level three, I’ve started playing it with my boyfriend mainly because we’re out of games to play.

Steam Summer Sale 2019

This is another game I’ve had my eyes on since a couple months, and I finally bought it during the Steam Summer Sale! However, this also doesn’t show up on BLAEO due to it being profile features limited. I didn’t even know this was a thing before joining BLAEO, and it quickly became one of the most annoying things on Steam ever.

Anyways, I’ve seen the game described as a puzzle/walking simulator, and the 0.5 hours I’ve played can confirm this. Apparently this is a very short game–but only if you know what to do in it. I’ve progressed a little, but only by looking at a walkthrough. I didn’t want to do that, but the game itself seemed very hard to figure out, to me at least. I’m still trying to do things by myself, which is why this isn’t on “beaten” this week–I haven’t managed to do much!

But I’ll probably be done with this by next week (hopefully!).

If you’re looking for a game similar to Bookworm Adventures, Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered might be interesting:

Thank you! I’ll check it as soon as I can =)

Oh profile limited is annoying. Apart from space pilgrim academy 3 I havent really had trouble with it but its sure annoying if you are an avid buyer of those games. For not counting them as blaeo games there’s plenty of people including myself who count non steam games as done since hey everything can be a backlog

Also i keep seeing about how hollow knight is good. Apart from the gameplay I have no idea what the story is, which im assuming there is one. So hopefully the rest of the game is just as fun

About Hollow Knight: I’m not sure what the story of the game is as well, but I think it will make sense as I progress in game. From what I’ve seen, I’m still at the beginnings of it!

I’m also counting non-Steam games as backlog! I just don’t have much of them, since all I have is the free games given by Epic Store =P And I’m not planning to play most of them anyways.

Amitte

Personally, I can’t help but grab the games on Epic Store whenever I remember to. I’d love to play most of the ones I have (missed out on Thimbleweed Park, for example :c), but I can’t help not counting them on my backlog, since I really don’t care about Epic Games in general, lol.

aonrao

Yeah, I also don’t care about Epic much. Tbh, I would rather have them on Steam =P (And some of them I do have!) But it seems like a waste of money to buy them on Steam when I got them for free on Epic as well.

Amitte

Same, Steam is the best! But I know what you mean. Dealing with multiplatform games is hard, especially if you, more or less accidentally, buy the same game twice. There are a few games I have on Steam that I either already played before on a different platform (which is why they’re still untouched on Steam), or I played them on Steam, and they’re waiting for their turn on PlayStation, haha.

Amitte

There was a game I think looked very similar to Bookworm Adventures going around on SG recently, but I forgot the name :c As far as other typing games go though, I can surely recommend Epistory - Typing Chronicles and The Typing of the Dead - Overkill :)

Spamlynguist

Spellspire maybe?

Amitte

Yeah, that’s it! Thanks :)

aonrao

Thanks! Epistory is already on my wishlist (will definitely check that!), but Typing of the Dead doesn’t seem like a game I would like.

Amitte

Epistory is magical… though it can be buggy. Shame you’re not into killing zombies with a keyboard though :/

aonrao

Zombies in general is not for me =D

Amitte

Aw, so that’s why you don’t plan on playing The Walking Dead either? That’s a shame, too. Let me tell you this though, I once thought that I probably really don’t like zombie stories… and then I played TWD and it all changed. Must be the game being good :D
