Goodbye 2017.
Another year had passed and this one really flew by.
This year I have managed to complete (not including beaten games) 162 games which is a whooping 132 more than the 30 I have completed in 2016, brining me to a total of 232 games. Hopefully 2018 will go just as well.

Changes
There is a few changes I would like to implement in the next year for my sanitys sake:
- No more forcing myself to play what I don’t want/feel like to anymore. Which means I will probably stop doing “Challenge me”s and similar (after I finish the current one). This one is the main change I really need to do for my own sanity and to cut down on the stress level a little bit.
- Try to actually finish games when I start playing them so I am not stuck with +100 installed games stuck for years in the limbo of unfinished games. That doesn’t mean I will be finishing imediatly everything I have started because see the first point.
- Due to the fact of me trying to clear as much of my backlog as possible in 2017 I neglected my real life backlog and it became huge. Already in mid December I gave myself a rule that I have to spend at least an hour a day clearing my real life backlog. It has been working quite well so far and I am really happy about it.
- Fix my BLAEO profile and make it more “fancy” looking. I will probably do that in the next few days.
I have also changed my ABC list. After a really strong start I became really unhappy about it and thus unmotivated it to finish it. I have yet to update my post about it but what I have done is:
- Switched out games
- Filled in most of the letters with games I have played between the creation of the list and now
- will finish it when I feel like it and the call it a day.
Hopes for 2018
First of all I hope you all to have a happy and safe 2018! As for what I would like to achieve for myself: A finished (beaten + completed) percentage of 25%. Is it actually possible? Probably not as I would have to beat even more games than this year (over 170, depends on how many more games I get), but I sure will try my best.

Those changes sound good too. I guess it doesn’t make sense to feel uncomfortable with gaming because you put yourself under too much pressure. We don’t want that!
But what is your rl backlog, if I may ask? I tried to kill my book backlog and my rl puzzle backlog, even wrote about that in the beginning, but then summer ended and with that my book reading failed. Puzzles? Erm… yeah, dunno what killed that. Oh right, I stopped watching around lunch time this cooking show. Yeah, that. :]
I have no game related hopes/planes for next year. Well, maybe one: Don’t start with MMOs again. It’s not good for me.
But health and money making wise… yeah, gotta try working on that. And yep, that’s exactly why I couldn’t go back to sleep last night and played in the middle of it again. I hate how it stresses me out -.-

There is lot of stuff on it actually. I got a bunch of books I would like to read as well (currently reading the books that inspired The Witcher series that my amazing SG secret Santa got me <3), some smaller projects I wanna do, my thesis, some stuff that I want to watch, lots of organizing/cleaning/selling to do and I am probably forgetting some more things. So yea I will be busy next year ;)
Yea I don’t dare to touch MMOs with a ten feet pole because I know exactly how it would end up for me. I wish you the best of luck with that! And remember to take it one step at a time! :)

Oh yeah, The Witcher books are on my to read list too - somewhere. Since I don’t own them, they are pretty far away though so that is good :D But since I used to read a lot - and I still put books on my rl wl - I got a couple for bday and xmas again. It’s kinda a standing order order something :D I mean, I like it but, then I read a bit to little atm I guess :]
Selling yeah. Gotta do that. I mean not only my online shop project, but I should really get my shit together and sell some things on ebay. I kinda still don’t dare do that hide Buying yes, selling… urgh -.-

I always wanted to read them but I never looked into buying them so receiving them randomly way a really nice surprise :3 I got another book in shipment that was supposed to arrive yesterday but it still hasn’t even left the USA…. note to self: never order anything Barnes & Noble again, their shipping is expensive AF and you don’t even get it in time. I can already see that they will deliver it to some random address in the US just like they did with my keyboard… I swear the US post system is incompetent. sorry for the rant, I am just upset and will raise hell with them if I don’t get it in the next 2 weeks

Urgh, don’t remind me! I once got like… 6 books from the Legend of the Seeker Series from the US. Since it cost like 60€ or something it went into customs duties (sry, that’s a pretty unknown word to me o.o), which took ages to get it and I had to open it there so they could look inside if it really where books. All in all stupid! Totally stupid! And all just because I couldn’t get the books in English that easily -.-
So yeah, I know what you’re going through with that. Hope it works out. In case it doesn’t: Raise hell! ;)

In a way I get that point. But only in a way, because I have days were I am completely unmotivated to do ANYTHING. But I think that is part of suffering from depression. I just do something on these days - or hang around a lot and annoy my mum with it, luckily I’m over crying through these days - and are bloody bored while being occupied. It’s a strange condition really o.o

Weird that you actually had to be there when they opened it :o In Slovenia they just open them themselves and then don’t give the package to you till you pay them for their “services”. Did I mention that they can just randomly choose any package they feel like even tho they have no reason at all to check it out and make you pay for it? Dickheads. While I normally wouldn’t, for this package I sure will raise hell because I paid 3x more for the shipping than the book which it is ridiculous.

Also, really nice new rules. I might “borrow” your IRL backlog rule, I was really disappointed at myself when I saw how little I managed to read this year, and my book backlog pile is getting huge. Your point number 2 is what really helped me make progress too, I use to scatter my attention a lot in gaming, start a lot of games and then leave them in the middle.

Feel free to do so! It really helped me feeling less guilty that I have all those unplayed games waiting and I am doing something else. It might sound really weird but I made me feel way more happy and relaxed :)
