November Recap

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Reclaimed my 100%

I spent a lot of time getting 100% but they just had to add a new achievement. I actually re-downloaded it to do a few runs randomly, and I was shocked to accidentally get an achievement. I also did a bunch of daily runs this month, and the game is still fun despite the 1000+ hour grind to get all of the achievements.

Detroit: Become Human

30.4 hours, 48 of 48 achievements
BLAEO: Become Deviant

Very cool game, I was blessed to win this gem. Connor is the best but I liked the others despite the occasional cringe. It's a well made game that was very thought provoking, and I would definitely recommend it. I also tried Heavy Rain this month (it's made by the same developers) and the controls were terrible so I gave up.

2024: Mosaic Retrospective

Minesweeper

It's just minesweeper, but I like minesweeper

Law & Order: Legacies

Not worth $600+

I enjoyed this old Telltale game but no way I would pay what it costs to get a key in 2025. The investigations have red herrings, and it's never explained if they are good or bad to find, seems like it's just neutral and does not impact the story or the score. They tried to tie the different episodes together with a cold case but it kind of felt clunky the way they did it.

Kaze and the Wild Masks

Solid platformer

Nothing crazy here, but a fun 2D platformer with a nice art style some neat speed mechanics and power-ups. Beating the levels was generally fairly easy but the bosses were challenging and some of the 100% objectives were pretty tough too. For every level there are bonuses for collecting 100+ gems, finding the two secret challenge areas, beating the level without taking damage, and beating the target time for speedrunning the level. It was a fun time, I recommend it for fellow platformer enjoyers.

Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince

9.7 hours, 13 of 20 achievements
Zelda-lite

Generally not my type of game but I did enjoy the first Blossom Tales and I enjoyed this one too. I didn't find it too challenging, but I also didn't feel compelled to go for 100% on this one. I did a lot of extra stuff but there was too much left to do and it seemed like it would be far to tedious, partially because it's not even clear what I was missing. Maybe this is not the deepest game but that allows for somebody like me to tackle it and not feel overwhelmed.

Unpacking

IRL too!

This was a neat little puzzle game, and it did a good job of portraying a story without actually telling a story with words. I had to look up a couple things that just didn't seem to work no matter what I did, probably because I was not 100% sure what all the items were so I couldn't tell where they were supposed to go. It was funny to play this game while also moving IRL, and I was able to move successfully! I had only moved once before but only like 5 minutes away so this was (and is) pretty stressful, completely leaving my friends and hometown behind.

Doki Doki Literature Club

Who doesn't like cupcakes?

I'm not gonna spoil stuff, but there was some surprising difficulty in playing this one on my Steam Deck.

KILLBUG

Endless battle

KILLBUG is similar to Devil Daggers, an endless arena shooter that gets progressively harder the longer you survive. Shoot, rocket jump, special attacks, and dash through enemies to reload and heal yourself. I saw people saying it's an easy game, but I've also seen people say the moon is made of gorgonzola. I will try to get further but I may be incapable of achieving 100% in this one. Not the type of game I would spend dozens of hours playing but I could definitely understand other people doing it. I'm happy just to have gotten 80% of the achievements but I am sure I can get at least a couple more.

Sokpop S02: spider ponds

Permadeath sucks

Nice little game but adding permadeath at the end is unnecessarily punishing. Beat it on my third attempt and still only took 40 minutes, but restarting was not fun it was just annoying. I am glad somebody made a guide to help explain things, because the game basically explained almost nothing.

Sokpop S01: Moeras

Easy

First attempt, I died. Second attempt I killed the one and only enemy and beat the game in under 2 minutes. Then I went searching through the vast procedurally generated swampland looking for guard towers that were far too spread apart. Then spent a minute standing in a puddle. Then spent 3 minutes staring at the intro scene. Easy 100% but 30 minutes of padding after 2 minutes of actual gameplay was kind of annoying.

Xtreme League

Xtreme Lame

Bad game with broken achievements, but at least it was technically playable. That's more than I can say for a handful of other games I tried this month.

Congrats on your move! I’ve only done it twice, and even with my parents’ help I would not want to do that again. >.< Being without friends and familiar places around can be lonely, tho once settled in discovering new places around where you live can be very fun. :3 Wish you all the best in your new place!

RobbyRatpoison

Thanks for the kind words! I am here with my family so it’s not all bad, and despite my fears I am also excited for what the future will bring :)

Traqie

Ah it could be so much worse with Isaac… I decided to try get the new 3 achievements and I ended up trying to get Dead God on 2nd save slot (currently beated nearly everything on normal mode, struggling with The Lost now…).
How was your experience in online mode? I tried to do a few runs, but everytime I got some tryhards that spam reset button to get a good seed :/

RobbyRatpoison

I don’t remember having any issues like that, I’m pretty sure it didn’t take me that long to get the online achievements. The Lost was difficult but Tainted Lost was BRUTAL. Gotta use those Holy Cards wisely.

Zelrune

Congratulations on your assassinations!!!! ᓚᘏᗢ
Someone was busy this November, I hope you had a successful move!

RobbyRatpoison

Thank you! The move went fine, now I get to move on with my life again. I somehow ended up with a lot of free time leading up to the move, and with my PC packed I was only able to use my Steam Deck. This turned out to be influential in my game choices, instead of playing multiplayer games like Rocket League I ended up trying a bunch of single player games.
