In my last post, I mysteriously mentioned a new way of reducing my backlog but didn't go into details as I didn't know if it was going to work. Well, it has so I can now share it with you.
It's actually quite simple. When I beat a game from my backlog, I check out its all-time low price, add 25% of it into a virtual piggy bank (a spreadsheet, really) and that's all the money I'm allowed to spend on new games. For my old Wii and 3DS games, I use the price I paid for them (which I kept track of). This way, it encourages me to play the most expensive games first before their value drops too much and favour games I actually bought over freebies and emulated games since they count for nothing. Another restriction is that I must not buy more games than I have beaten over a three-month period. I still have hundreds of great games to beat so there's no reason my strategy shouldn't keep working.

1.5 great Mario titles but the set perspective can be frustrating.

The single player adventure is short but playing online is pretty good.
