March’s Stats

aka. Just one more run, I promise…

Hello there, it’s been a month already ? 2021 looks awfully like 2020 and I’ve lost track of time. In this past month I managed to play a lot… but (yes there is a butt) most of that playtime went into roguelikes and endless games. Let me tell you that playing four roguelikes plus two endless games at the same time is not helping with the backlog fight.

On the plus side, I didn’t cave into Valheim but again, my friends convinced me to install Sea of Thieves and go sail with them. It’s a lot more fun than I anticipated and the water in this game is beautiful. Since then, we’re having very unproductive but funny weekend afternoons. Consequences of that are that I barely kept the backlog balanced, but I had a lot of fun. I hope you’re all are well and stay safe.

Supraland

30 hours playtime, 58 of 98 achievements

Supraland was a surprising one for me. It was really good and a lot of fun. I had picked it as part of the tag challenge for Sandbox but little did I know that it wasn't really one in term of gameplay, but rather the sandbox is the universe in which the game is going on. You play as some little toy in a world built by a kid in a big sandbox. It's sort of a 3D plateformer metroidvania I guess? But what it is mostly, is really good. If any of you played the DLC, is it worth getting?

Neurodeck

4 hours playtime, 14 of 26 achievements

Neurodeck was a game I really wanted to like, but felt short in a lot of aspects. It's a mental health/phobia themed roguelike deckbuilder, but it kind of ressort to some clichés for the mental health part that could end up sending the wrong message. Visually it's quite well done but it sadly ended up being a less good Slay the Spire were the theme wasn't properly done, imho.

Kirby's Dream Land 2

Game Boy, 27 of 37 achievements

It was a bit more complex than the first Kirby's Dream Land (and longer too) while being still a lot of fun. Getting to the true ending took me a bit of time but it was all worth it.

Cyanide & Happiness - Freakpocalypse (Episode 1)

6 hours playtime, 47 of 54 achievements

This game on the other hand was just a massive disappointment, and even tho I got the key for free I still felt scammed. The game is merely a prologue to the whole supposed story, yet priced like a whole game. The story only start in the closing sequence of the game, which will supposedly have 2 more fully prices episodes after that. So 60-70€ for a point and click WELL THEN. Without me. Oh and don't let my playtime fool you, I forgot the game on the start menu for at least 1-2h and I did a lot of clicking everywhere (because EVERYTHING is uselessly clickable 3 times). The game can be done in less then 2h playing normally. My advice is a solid don't buy and don't waste your time playing.

Dorfromantik

5 hours playtime, 9 of 47 achievements

My great surprise of the month. A super chill tile-placing city countryside builder with a great artstyle and a relaxing yet addictive gameplay. Think about Carcassonne but solo, and way prettier. Strong recommendation. Plus it's super cheap.

Creaks

6 hours playtime, 28 of 28 achievements

Creaks is a beautiful puzzle game by Amanita Design. It differs from their previous games gameplaywise, which were all point and clicks, but the artstyle and the storytelling is still equally great. I really loved the game and it was a perfect counterbalance to all the roguelikes I played this month. I definitely would recommend it if you like puzzle solving games.

Oh that explains the mixed reviews for cyanide. Yeah the price is way to high for a point and click when its not even finished

EvilBlackSheep

It’s not well priced for what it is but like i said even free I felt scammed. The story only starts in the closing sequence, the game has some tedious/bad mechanics for a P&C (when there are tons of good P&C out there to be played) and let’s not forget that this is the result of a kickstarter that has been delayed and delayed. Overall I really don’t recommend.

Skatrzoo

> Pretending you didn’t go back and play like 20 hours one more run of monster train too :laughingboye:

EvilBlackSheep

Oh, thanks! Something went wrong in the copy pasta, Supraland had got squished out too. Fixed now :3

Py

So is loop hero any good? I’ve had mixed feedback about it.

EvilBlackSheep

Personally, I’d say amazing. I had a few reserves at the beginning because I couldn’t get over how… ugly? it was (idk it’s not very pleasant to my eyes). But I really love the gameplay. I mean considering I love roguelikes, I really am enjoying this one. There was a demo if you want to try it for yourself and see if it would be your thing too.
