What are your favorite soundtrack(s) on video games? Here are mine:
God of War Soundtrack:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3647sH-HXWs
Guild Wars 2 Soundtrack:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YySrK_dY898
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqj1acMv6Zc
In God of War, the soundtrack makes the game really epic and iconic. Imagine ripping through Gods and Titans while the soundtracks above are playing, absolute insane and epic feeling :D
In Guild Wars 2, some of it’s soundtrack is epic too and makes combat really awesome. Another part of it it slow-paced and emotional and makes exploring area really relaxing and smooth. What are your favorite soundtracks in games how do they make you feel while playing? :)

Lengray

By a mile, the original sountrack for The Old City: Leviathan by Atrium Carceri.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8zO6_OhNy8
The game also happens to be one of my favourite “walking sims”.

Blue Frost

Didn’t listen to all of it, but I definetily liked it. Dark, hidden, mysterious and a bit twisted. Good taste my friend! :)

Lengray

The entire Atrium Carceri discography is amazing. The very best of dark ambient IMO.
It’s the soundtrack to H.P. Lovecraft’s writings.

Nothing can beat Warcraft soundtracks for me. My ears dictate that they are completely unmatched and unrivaled.

There are just so many more but I have to stop myself.

Alliance based music makes me calm down, I tend to listen to them when I have a headache and just want to relax. Whereas Horde music makes me wanna get up, pick up an axe, sword or whatever weapon I can find and start slashing humans (did I mention mandatory FOR THE HORDE?). Horde music pumps my blood, makes my heart beat faster and increase my blood flow while Alliance music has the opposite effect. Now that I explained how the music from the both factions make me feel, trust me you’ll know which one is Horde and which one is Alliance from the small list I shared above :D

If I have to venture off into non-Warcraft territory, there are amazing options too:

  • Round Gunpoint from Gunpoint gives me neck aches due to how much I sway my head with the rhythm of the beautiful jazz music which I lose myself in.

Some examples from The Cat Lady and Downfall (both games are top notch in the soundtrack department):

  • Street Band from Machinarium is also great.
  • Spanish Sahara from Life is Strange. Easily my most favourite piece from the OST of that game.
Blue Frost

Ok I’m home and I’m listening to the links of soundtracks you posted. Here are my impressions

  1. Wolf at the Gates: EPIC!😵 Imagine playing while listening to the soundtrack, the suspense, the action! FOR THE ALLIANCE, FOR BLOOD AND HONOR!!!👺😾
  2. Anduni’s Theme: Wow…😢 first that flute calmed my soul, then that violin gave me goosebumps!!! The structure of the song is so fucking awesome. Then the vocals, not so much, but then the violin started again… my heart!!!😱😭
  3. Lion’s Rest: Awesome!👍A perfect song when you are exploring and doing little adventures, a reminder that the soundtrack of the game is TOP NOTCH👌
4.A Siege of Worlds: Yes babeeeeeeey😃Straight into the fucking core of action. Reminded me a lot of God of War soundtrack. Perfect for a nasty big-ass epic boss fight😼
  4. Times Change: Background vocals HAAA HUUU HAAAA HUUU👿. Reminded of a gw2 soundtrack, perfect when you get to the point of a game where you are in deep shit fighting an army of enemies or a nasty boss and you’re not sure if you are gonna make it or not.
6.Talador: Yes…😇That’s right my dear soundtrack suggested by my friend, my sweet melody which is dancing with my soul. Oh and the perfectness and purity of the harp… PERFECT😍
  5. Alliance Battle March: Hollywood level!🤩Not my favorite melody of war, but definitely epic!😎
  6. Ways of the Ancient Ones: 57:38 minute I literally put my arms in the air and closed my eyes😚The violin reminded a lot of Naruto soundtrack. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH so good🤯
  7. Round Gunpoint: So smooth, so delicate, so beautiful, I imagined for a moment I was in New York in the 1970s in a smoking suit dancing with a lady in a red dress.🤓
  8. Countdown: Dark, a bit intesne, rhythmic, “sadisitic”. Love it, love the piano to death
Will use it when I am writing horror stories😱
  9. Revelations:Sorry didn’t feel it that much, not my type. Still not bad.😏
  10. Whispers: Somehow trance mixed with punk and house music. So trippy, so cool, so good.🤪
  11. Don’t follow the light: The jazz: YES. Classy! The piano: YYYEEEEESS love iiiiittt. The somehow rock element: nah… Overall good with a little part of nope😁
  12. The Noises she Makes in Their Bed: Are you fucking kidding me? Did the composer read my mind when he made this? Slow emotional piano with rain effect… ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ The vocals emmm ok, the effects also very good.☺
  13. Street Band: Of course Machinarium soundtrack is awesome! Loved it!😆
  14. Spanish Sahara: The reason why haven’t played Life is Strange because I am afraid my heart will break into millions of peice. This song was a confirmation that that will 100% happen. Very good and emotional😞

FOR THE ALLIANCE

Someone is clearly asking to be chopped up into billions of pieces :P

FOR BLOOD AND HONOR!!!

Seriously? This is a Horde saying and you put the Alliance phrase before that :’( I don’t think you could get any more offensive than this :P

you’re not sure if you are gonna make it or not.

I play Horde, I know I’ll make it ;)

I’m glad you liked majority of the soundtracks I shared and thank you for sharing the parts you did not like. I agree with some of them as I don’t like vocals in my music but for Wolf at the Gates and Lion’s Rest it’s different. I really like the vocals in those two. Especially Wolf at the Gates makes me feel like I am in some grand hall, listening to opera. This is not something I can realistically do in real life which is upsetting as I like opera so that is one mega plus for that music as it makes me feel like I can afford to attend an event like that, all from the comfort of my tiny little room.

I also really enjoyed the first link you shared for Guild Wars 2 and God of War while the 2nd links for both of them were not to my liking I’m afraid :(

Blue Frost

Someone is clearly asking to be chopped up into billions of pieces :P

Hahahahhaahahh I laughed, my provocation was successful :P.

Seriously? This is a Horde saying and you put the Alliance phrase before that :’( I don’t think you could get any more offensive than this :P

But it was poorly executed :P

I play Horde, I know I’ll make it ;)

Touché :D
Yes, indeed the soundtracks that you showed me were epic and emotional, exactly my taste. I loved the flute, piano and the VIOLIN( <3) on them. I’m glad that you enjoy soundtracks in general as much as I do. Thanks for you honesty too :D In fact I haven’t shown you the soundtracks that lie deep in my heart, because I would have send you hours of soundtracks to you lol. Thanks again
hug

Oh oh keep the soundtracks coming :) We can keep sharing a few of them every day on Whatsapp or something :P Yea I truly love soundtracks when they are done right and we tend to like the same instruments which is a big plus for us to find new material to listen to by sharing our favourites with each other :P

That gif is adorable!

Blue Frost

Haha yeah I had no idea we had similar tastes on soundtracks :P That sounds like a brilliant idea, that is why I will listen to the 2 bonus tracks tomorrow. If you listen to an awesome soundtrack per day, it will make the whole day awesome lol. Btw, it is indeed, and if you watched Monsters Inc, heartbreaking </3

Forsaken

Considering how different our tastes are in like literally everything, I’m kinda shocked to see we have similar tastes in soundtrack. Yay! :D

Forsaken

Here have two more bonus soundtracks, they are from Ori and the Blind Forest :)

Ginso Escape
Main Menu

Blue Frost

Ginso Escape

A really cool combination between intense and delicate, really liked it :)

Main Menu

Wow :’( The vocals are heavenly, and piano and violin is a deadly combination that rips my heart to millions of pieces…. I absolutely love it. Gonna find a piano cover and fall more in love with it. Also I must play this game

Lady of The Wood

The flute is so on point :D The whole soundtrack has such a “possessed” and wild feel to it, and it is straight up classic! :)

Quinze

Hollow Knight
Mass Effect
The Witcher
Dishonored
Cuphead
Dragon Age Inquisition
Bioshock - I couldn’t find a video for the whole trilogy.

Blue Frost

Hollow Knight

First off it’s cute :P The whole track has a tiny-mini(?) feel to it :D I like it, it’s very good.

Mass Effect

It has a trance/dancy feel to it and it has its unique emotional parts. Very good overall :D

The Witcher

With all the awesome soundtracks I’ve heard today, I realised there needs to be a Hall Of Fame of soundtracks of video games and The Witcher definitely deserves a spot there :) Straight classic.

Dishonored

Not exactly my liking. Couldn’t find “the feel in it”, but I have no doubts that it matches perfect with the game(play) :D.

Cuphead

I haven’t even played Cuphead, but looking at that picture in the video and listening to the soundtrack makes me ragey for some reason LOL. Still, pretty solid jazz , really rhythmic.

Dragon Age Inquisition

I felt some type of way when I listened to this… it was really really really good, I loved. Not too much “DUN DUN DUN” on the epic parts, where it makes it even more epic :D My favorite of the ones you showed me, slightly better than Witcher, because Witcher was so good.

Bioshock

Hey hey hey :D :D Mysterious, dark, twisted, unique. Again loved the violin parts. Oh, also reminds of someone really generous who gifted me the whole series of Bioshock and I need to play it asap :P

Overall reaction to your favorite soundtracks:

Forsaken

Speaking of Witcher soundtrack, I can’t believe I forgot to share my favourite one from the 3rd game. I feel ashamed cause it’s my ringtone :D I really can’t believe I forgot something that is my ringtone! Music is brilliant but I hate the woman screaming, I’m glad she isn’t in the music all the time.

Lady of the Wood

uguleley

Probably my all-time favourite soundtrack is The Sims, more specifically the Build and Buy mode from the original game. The songs have been ingrained in my memory for over 15 years and will probably stay there forever.
Build Mode 2
Buy Mode 3

Some more in random order:

Life is Strange - Golden Hour: I remember stopping in the main menu for a few minutes when launching the game, just chilling with this tune for a while.
Transistor - The Spine: All Supergiant games have top-notch soundtrack, Transistor OST being my favourite from their games.
The Last of Us: amazing work by Gustavo Santaolalla, this playlist includes more of the good stuff.
The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Forgetful Forest: Composed by Mikolai Stroinski, has also done work on the Witcher 3 soundtrack.

There’s also a few more “gamey” soundtracks that I always enjoy listening to, because they’re goddamn addictive.

Super Mario World - Castle: Okay, this OST is here mainly for nostalgia. These songs will never leave my memory, either!
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse - Darkest Night (Village of Lost Souls): Jake Kaufman is a genius. I need to check out and play the other Shantae games if only to hear more of his music.
Undertale - Death by Glamour: Addictive.. super-addictive soundtrack, one of the best parts of the game for me.

P.S. Nice idea for a post, it’s fun to come here and listen through other people’s favourites :)

Sims Buy Mode 2 & 3:

What a chill piano :) All goofs and silliness aside that this game brings, I think the game can be pretty relaxing and chill. You know, just building a home, choosing furniture, interacting with your character can be relaxing with this cool soundtrack in the background :)

Life is Strange - Golden Hour:

This instrumental that you showed me doesn’t even try to be too emotional or sad, you know in it’s core it’ just a chill, guitar based soundtrack. But it still finds a way to touch my heart. I’m saying it again after my friend Lenor linked me an other Life is Strange soundtrack; when I play that game it is gonna break my heart :)

The Last of Us:

I have the game for my PS3 and I am glad I will play and enjoy these beautiful soundtracks along the way :D

The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Forgetful Forest:

The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter is another game I really wanna play. I know it has some stunning and beautiful visuals and it seems that it got really good soundtrack too.

Super Mario World - Castle:

I think most of gamers have at least one Mario soundtrack that they will never forget even if they wanted to. This was unique tho since I didn’t get the chance to listen to it that many times.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse - Darkest Night (Village of Lost Souls):

Sailor Moon was the first thing that came up to my mind haha. This soundtrack is really cool and dance worthy. Thanks for the amazing flashbacks of Sailor Moon :’)
If you are curious how they are similar, here is a link to the opening of Sailor Moon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5txHGxJRwtQ (Sorry you put me on the mood of kawaii dances so I had to put some Naruto dancing gifs there xD :

Undertale - Death by Glamour:

YEEEESS! LOVEEE IIIITT :D

Thank you and yes I agree the soundtracks that I have been posted here have been nothing but great, it’s so fun listening and to replying to them. Compliments to your soundtracks taste I had a blast listening to them :D

uguleley

Ahah, these gifs are great. :D Is that a young van Damme bustin’ a move? Incredible.

All goofs and silliness aside that this game brings, I think the game can be pretty relaxing and chill.

It was exactly that, I remember spending a lot of time just building & decorating new houses. And I’ve always considered the piano parts in this game genuinely beautiful pieces of music. Here’s an excellent live take of Build Mode 5 (aka “Now what?”).

This instrumental that you showed me doesn’t even try to be too emotional or sad, you know in it’s core it’ just a chill, guitar based soundtrack.

Kudos to Jonathan Morali, the original score of this game is his work. He matched the atmosphere and the mood brilliantly throughout the game, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

I’m sure that The Last of Us still holds up well, even on an older console. I also played it on PS3, that game doesn’t need current-gen graphics in order to deliver a great experience (at least for me) :)

Oh, I’ve heard of Sailor Moon, I think I have seen it on TV in my childhood. I don’t remember watching it a lot, though. Nice to hear that Shantae songs reminded you of it :) here’s some more of my favourite picks that might get your toes tappin’ (this OST has so many good beats!): Streamworks (Saliva Island), Rave in the Grave (Zombie Island), The Nightmare Woods (Run Run Rottytops!), Scorching Dunes (Sunburn Island) and last but not least the legendary Boss Battle theme (impressively covered by The8bitdrummer!).

Thanks haha and indeed it is :D

Heyy… I’m way into piano music and this was excellent :)

I’m sure that The Last of Us still holds up well, even on an older console. I also played it on PS3, that game doesn’t need current-gen graphics in order to deliver a great experience (at least for me) :)

Yeah, I can’t wait to play it this summer :D

Omg these soundtracks are so incredibly funky and addictive. My favorite one from these is Rave in the Grave (Zombie Island). It’s so funky and rhythmic, I think Micheal Jackson would be perfect singing on this one :P. Oh and that performance was so hype and incredible. It takes a lot of talent to keep up the rhythm all the time!

Joe

Nice topic and it’s been great listening to some of the tracks mentioned! Wonderful to see Guild Wars 2 highlighted from you, I love that soundtrack too, Snaff’s Workshop and The Tengu Wall are my personal favs from it. And Jeremy Soule is easily my favourite video game composer!

Blue Frost

Yeah, I’ve been enjoying all the soundtracks that have been replied to me! Oh God Tengu Wall gives me goosebumps ««33333. I actually got a bit sad when I got 100% exploration, because during doing it I enjoyed completing quests, hero points, vistas and points of interests and just enjoying the different views of different areas and chilling to the soundtrack :) Other soundtracks that I really love on GW2:

As for GW2 Heart Of Thrones, I haven’t been really into it. Feels more like… random, even though I need to listen more in order to make a complete statement. Also, if you play GW2(which I imagine you do haha) you can drop your username here and we could do some stuff together sometime :D
P.S @Lenor check the soundtrack The Tengu Wall that Joe posted. The violin is fascinating!

Joe

Haha yes Tengu Wall is magical, goosebumps every time! That was one of my favourite aspects of the game trying to go for 100% in every area, I managed it on one character and I definitely felt sad to have explored everything. “Farahr” is lovely! Nice picks :)

Unfortunately I no longer play Guild Wars 2, I stopped around 2014 and so I haven’t tried the new expansions or seen how they’ve updated the game, I’ve heard there’s been a lot of change! I was a massive fan of the original series and it just couldn’t match it for me with all its differences which I think affected my enjoyment somewhat, although the soundtrack certainly impresses. Thank you for the kind offer however! I may revisit it in the future but my backlog is way too big to start playing an MMO right now :P

Blue Frost

Yes indeed. I got The 1st expansion Heart of Thorns and it is really enjoyable(they have also recently released a 2nd expansion called Path of Fire). Getting whatever expansion upgrades your account and unlocks many things. I hope you will one day get back to it. I’ll be waiting with my 2 axes and my greatsword since I play as a Warrior :P I also have a huge backlog, but I just kind of ignore it haha :D
