I will remove this post in a day or two. As it’s ugly.

    37 hours playtime

    15 of 35 achievements

But god, I’m so fed up with Final Fantasy XIII it’s go on “won’t play” pile after 37h. I won’t spend few tries and at least 15 - 20 min per one attempt to beat boss just because it has 3,5 mln HP. When I’ve beat few min earlier enemy with 1 mln HP in 2 min. It’s like icing on the cake of enormous list of cons of this game. But I can’t endure it anymore. Will watch cut-scenes of last chapter on yt, as this game is also so terribly linear and corridor-like (more than some FPS games…) than I won’t miss anything as it’s not possible to diverge from “proper path” by even 1 mm.

Those bullshit battles that are based only on fact that boss has enormous number of HP and immunities so they soak attacks like rubber. Their attacks aren’t interesting or there is no fun pattern in them. They just repeat the same 2 - 3 attacks through whole battle and drag it way too long because they have that much HP.

Will I ever play in another jRPG that is based on linear story, no choices, weird evolutions of strategy/real time combat and is super grindy with copy-pasted enemies that differ only in HP and colors?

I think I will avoid them from now on and won’t touch them with 1m stick. All of them. WRPGs are way better for me.

I agree about the damage sponges, in particular in the late game. It’s not hard, just annoying.

You should be proud of yourself for trying so hard to finish this game. I couldn’t get past the the second hour. xD

The game actually gets better. But FF XIII is a game that seems to not respect its players. Not only do they have those incredibly damage spongey enemies & bosses, but the game drip-feeds you game mechanics, at a far too slow rate. There’s a good combat system underneath there, it’s just that it takes 20 hours before you can get to properly use it (20h before the game turns good in a 40h game….), and it takes 2h before you can even level up! Defenders of the game says that it introduces its game mechanics at a slow rate to make sure that you properly know how they work before it introduces something else, but that just seems to me like they say that the developers thought that the people who would play it are too dumb to figure things out faster…

I believe I spoke about it in my review, but FF13 is the kind of game that would be greatly improved had they cut out most of regular fights. It has systems really geared towards boss fights.
