Oh crap, I have piled up two-months-worth of gaming to write about.
Some games have been beaten and I’ll try to say something about every of them, over some posts to ease the pain =P
Let’s start with the less recents:

Fortix!

There an unwritten rule about it on steamgifts, which is: you cannot buy it, you must win it.
So this is, of course, an sg win :)

Love these kind of games, simple yet engaging :)
It starts easy but can get quite hard towards the end (meaning you can’t easily conquer great areas anymore)
Enjoyed playing it, I’m half-way through hard mode and it’s, well.. harder =P
But I’ll beat it (someday) :)

There’s not much to say about it since it follows the principles of Qix, which I think everyone knows, even if the name doesn’t ring any bell. Instead of simply having to conquer the playfield, you have to move the hero (Fortix in the flesh) around to conquer castles and towers, while avoiding dragons and cannons.

Compared to Fortix 2, graphic is a bit more unpolished, the rest is pretty much similar.
The biggest difference I noticed is that here you can’t conquer catapults directly (like in F2) but you have to conquer symbols which act as triggers.
Objectively speaking, I can easily understand how/why many of you could tag this game as boring.. but I like it nonetheless! =P

Plates is a short puzzle game, it reminded me of Hook but it’s not as good as that.
Here gameplay feels messier, less clear than Hook, which had a minimal style yet it didn’t like it missed anything.
I also think I was left wondering what to do a couple of times (not like “I can’t solve this” but “what does this do? what does this wants me to do?”), thing that didn’t happen in Hook. Not sure but I also think I’ve encountered a bug.
If you like these kind of games I’d say go and play Hooks first, it deserves more. Then, if you’re still in need for more, play Plates. Experience will be a bit different, and with this I don’t mean necessarily “worse”; I expected more, there is surely room for improvement, but for the time you’ll need to reach the end, it will keep your mind busy (perhaps even more than Hook).

That post symmetry, though.

Thanks ^_^
Took a couple of tries to get it right =P

Indeed really awesome looking post. I wish i can do html like that.

Nothing too difficult.
Actually, if you right click and select inspect, it shows the code, a bit optimized though.
To see what I really wrote, you can right click and select show source code; it shows the code of the whole page, so you have to scroll down a bit until you find my post. :)

Sadly, I didn’t win either Fortix or Fortix 2. :(
Yep, they’re fun games. Although the last level on impossible difficulty in Fortix 2 was rage-inducing, and Zombie mode even more so.

malabagaa

well, if you owned them before joining, there was not much you could do (I had bought F2 way before sg)

ooh, 100%-ed both, congratz ^_^
Yup, it was turning from fun into frustration so I stopped paused playing.
I’ll get back to it eventually.

I didn’t know about the games before SG. I entered a lot of gibs for those but couldn’t win. I was curious about the games so I gave in and bought (F1)/traded (F2) for them. I was weak. Now, I’ll never know what winning Fortix/Fortix 2 feels like. :(

So far I’m 0-for-66 on Fortix giveaways, including a couple of times with decent odds (e.g., 5/22 chance, 1/14 chance). I did get Fortix 2 in a bundle at some point. Is it okay to trade for Fortix? It’s been on my trade list (“I Want” section) forever.
I enjoyed Hook. I should probably keep an eye out for Plates as well.

malabagaa

Won it on my 35th attempt (1/13).
Lost in that 5/22 too! :D and I also in a 1/10, 2/29, etc.etc.=P

Don’t know, you should ask to the sg elders =P

Perhaps my experience/judgement was biased by my constant comparison with Hook.
It’s not a bad game, but I think I can objectively say that it could have been better too.. it compensate with its cheap price =P
