Preface:

Been a quarter since I last updated and I actually haven't played much games as I've been busy with uni for the last 3 months. I preordered both Yakuza 0 and MHW in August and I think it was a mistake to get those in the same month lmao. Those games are very lengthy and I haven't finished the former. I did have fun with both though.

Despite not as content-heavy as the other MH games that I've played, I did have fun playing this game with my mates. What I didn't like about MHW though is how the event quests are delivered. They are time limited, basically forcing people who don't want to miss out to keep on playing. On one hand, it's great that they keep on making the game fresh with free content updates. But I'm never one who likes Games as a Service model especially if the game is never an MMO in the first place. The number of my backlog also makes it hard to keep up with the limited content. Comparatively, older MH titles make the event quests downloadable permanently even long after the update drops.

At the moment I'm playing MHW on and off every time there's a new limited event but I'm not sure how long I'll be doing this for.

I know I was on a wild ride for preodering both Yakuza 0 and MHW on the same month. This game was much, much better than I thought it would be. The town felt so lived in with tons of content. Lots of side quests, story is very lengthy and combat is also very great without being a button masher. The combat can be a hit and miss to some, but I actually enjoy its arcade-y feel as it suprisingly has so much depth and options. Furthermore, I also like how the game can shift from a serious tone to being goofy depending on the content you're doing. It's very lengthy though, and I haven't finished it yet. 27 hours in and I'm just stuck playing bowling, baseball, RC toy racing, and old SEGA arcade games.

Planning to continue it again as soon as my burnout from lengthy games is gone.

This game was a pretty decent loot shooter but falls flat in the end. Some of the weapon types are unbalanced. The enemies also hit quite hard and can even one hit KO you. Coupled with the awkward teammate AI, this game can be frustrating at times. It's rare for me to say this, but this game is way too expensive for what it's worth.

Next up will be mostly about games that I play for this monthly theme: Impulse purchases. Stay tuned!

Pretend I’m pounding my fists on a table rhythmically while chanting ‘Ya-ku-za, Ya-ku-za!’ over and over again. I’m excited to hear about your thoughts on the story, once you finish!

You obviously can make your posts however you want, but it hurts my heart a little to see you include a link to skip over your post. Your progress report is just as important as anybody else’s - if someone wants to pass it over make ‘em scroll!

A couple of friends of mine play monster hunter, and I’d love to make my cats as Palicos, but timed quests? Noooo that sounds awful!

I see a fellow Yakuza fanatic here! Will do, it’ll take a long time before I can play it again but I do want to play it again.

Lol, the skip to the next post part was added as I want to make my post as mobile friendly as possible. I sometimes browse BLAEO on my phone and some of the elements in the site are not mobile friendly. It can be a real pain to scroll down the post on a mobile device. Plus it’s a good practice for me to use these kind of things when writing a post, as learning some basic web development language is one of the things that led me start posting in BLAEO.

I can tell the appeal in modeling your cat as your Palico. To be fair if you don’t really care about collaboration cosmetic gears you can just ignore the timed events. Only a select few event weapons are considered “meta”. While most of the events do return in seasonal festivals (once every quarter), I simply prefer the model of the older games where every quests are added permanently by downloading them and can be taken whenever you want.

That’s a really nice reason for including the skip link - and it’s good you’re stretching your HTML muscles! GOOD THING I’ve NEVER done ANYTHING that would be aggravating to scroll past! Forgive me for my sins, Zephyrus

every quests are added permanently by downloading them and can be taken whenever you want.

That’s my favored way, too. I want to make sure what I have never leaves and that I can get to it on my own time.

This “click here to skip to next post” is supposed to work on your profile? As on main page it skips me to tsuperstundere post.

It is handy, I think I will steal it in my next post :blobevil:

ZephyrusRaine

Yep, feel free to steal like I did when learning bootstrap for BLAEO. :evilface;

This page is very useful if you want to understand the theory behind it.

You need two separate tags for it to work. One for directing which part of the page you want to jump to.

<a id="jumptothis">*leave as blank if you don't want to make it noticeable*</a>

..And another as the hyperlink to take you to that part.

<a href="#jumptothis">Click here to jump to jumptothis</a>

Basically I put the latter near the title of my post, and the former at the very bottom of my post while leaving the text blank.

Oh and BLAEO automatically formats the id attributes in each post as its own separate thing, so using the same id name in all of your posts without changing it is possible. Hopefully my explanation is easy to understand as English is not my mother tongue.

Mskotor

I do understand logic behind it, but I’m not able to replicate it. For me it creates unclickable hyperlink.

Both your way, and other I found on w3schools don’t work.

It doesn’t even work when I make completely blank post, with nothing else in it than those 2 lines of code xD

Edit. You know what? I sat on it yesterday for like 2h, today like 1h exta and couldn’t make it work. But I missed this “BLAEO formats ID”……… and made it work after I wrote this comment.

So even when you set id of October post as <a id="Oct2018"> site will see it as <a id="post-dsgfggfd-Oct2018">. And trying hyperlink to a id="Oct2018" (so the thing I WROTE IN MY GOD DAMN CODE) won’t work.

It is counterproductive in this regard.

And your english is perfectly fine, it’s BLAEO backend that’s weird :D Like carousel image showcases doesn’t work here as well, and I spend hours trying to make it work.

ZephyrusRaine

Right, the automatic formatting of the id property might be counterproductive to those who are more proficient in HTML/CSS but I do understand the logic behind it. At least it prevents the interpreter from going haywire when you have more than 1 posts that have the same id property. With a site that is as “free” as BLAEO is, it’s not hard to “break “the site. In fact, more than a few times I’ve screwed up the container of my post in the activities page due to not using the end tag lol.

Glad you could make it work though!
