Forgive me brothers and sisters, for I have sinned! The Steam summer sale… a horrible time for backlog slaying.. I bought DLC for Renowned Explorers, which means I put even more time into that instead of my backlog and a friend convinced me to buy GTA V cause he wants to play online heists with me… this is going to be quite a time sink… :-(

On the bright side: I did finish two SG wins: The Collider and My Name is Mayo, though I did use an autoclicker for the last one to mop up the achievements ;-) So yeah, I need to keep faith and continue working on my backlog.. If some of you can share some words of encouragment, it’d be appreciated!

You’ll have to tell me how the DLC is, I am still on the fence.

I really like the new DLC! There’s two new expeditions: a 3* one (Andes) and a 5* one (Lost Island), with both some interesting exploration mechanics.. In Andes there’s fast travel between some points which gives more opportunities to get to the interesting node. I won’t spoil Lost Island but it was pretty fun! And some fights were tough (one especially on Lost Island!), but I don’t think I’ve died in one of the new expeditions yet so not too hard.

The other big addition is the campfires. Basically at every expedition you have a campfire were something happens to your crew. Either simply get +8 treasure for instance or you get a special crew member story with benefits. Some of them are really awesome so it makes the game a bit easier. The campfire stories are basically a deck of cards and you unlock new cards by playing the game and at every campfire you can only pick between 4 selected cards so you still have to be a bit lucky to get the good cards.. It gives you some extra opportunities in crew building, so that’s really nice, but as I said, it feels a bit easier (or maybe I’ve just gotten better at the game ;-))

Wait.. this is no encouragment to work on my backlog.. this just makes me want to play Renowned Explorers again! :-P

Well… you’ve sold me. Next paycheck for sure.

I know that feeling, I bought GTAV and Witcher 3 (among many other games), there goes hundreds of hours of my life :/

Starlynk

I could stop myself from buying Witcher 3 fortunately.. I feel for you!

Hopefully my tactic will work and I won’t be looking at a 88% grey circle anymore soon :-)
89% never played

Your tactic worked, but not in the way you originally intended…

Starlynk

Oh no… it’s even worse than I expected! :’(

Take your time, just keep checking back on BLAEO and it’ll eventually make you start killing your backlog again \o/

GTA V is definitely a time-sinker if you and your friend get into it! I got it when it was released on PS3. Me and my friend spent countless hours in GTA online, the most fun I’ve had in a multiplayer game in recent years. Haven’t played it for almost a year though.

I checked my Social Club stats.. 576 hours online. Oh god.
