Playing awesome games and Merry Christmas!

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!

Life Progression

So I thought to just add some good news here, I got accepted to do a Masters degree in Engineering next year so my gaming might be effected. I will try my best to keep crunching the games :D
Ok onto the games now…

Game Progression

I have completed two games. Both of them are not on steam :/
I finished Spider-Man on PS4, it was incredible. I might get the DLC I am not sure. Completed that 100%, getting my first ever Platinum trophy :D

spiderman

I then finished Subnautica today. I got if for free on the Epic Store. WOW I highly recommend it. It is incredible, I checked the achievements, and it seems quite easy to 100% but that doesn’t matter with the Epic Store :D It is still free until 28/12/2018

subnautica

I couldn’t find the generate button on blaeo bar generators

Conclusion

The computer backlog grew one game but also reduced one game. The PS4 backlog grew with God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Last of Us Remastered. Now that I have finished Subnautica I am keen to play Last of Us, though I have installed Metro 2033 Redux which I might start. I have a lot of awesome games to jam now :D I need to stop buying hahahaha

Until next time

I bit the bullet

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!

Game Progression

So I carried on playing a lot of Shadow of War. Got to a point where I am ok to put it down for a while. Just three achievements to get, though the time requirement for them is not worth it for me at this stage. I am content to get my games above 90% completed to mothball it.

  • Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™

    78 hours playtime

    69 of 72 achievements

There was a flippen great deal on a PS4 which I snapped up, hence I have spent the last week or so playing Spiderman. It is an awesome game. The PS also came with Red Dead Redemption 2 which I am planning on playing this weekend, put a dent in that.

Conclusion

Life is casual, the PC backlog is slowing down but the total one is increasing XD hahaha.
Do any of you guys use HLTB to handle console games as well? I like the stats of that site.

Until next time

Getting more frequent :D

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!

Game Progression

Over the last few days since my previous post my backlog has not increased, beside picking up Destiny 2 for free [I probably will not play it, we will see]. I have mostly just been playing a load of Shadow of War. I am not sure if I will get all the achievements. I finished the main campaign, Act 4 was a slog and I am quite grateful they reduced it to 3 stages instead of 10. I am now working my way through the expansions, starting with Blade of Galadriel. Enjoying it. It is just more Shadow of War with a some different abilities and what not.

  • Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™

    68 hours playtime

    52 of 72 achievements

Keen to get this done so that I can free up the +- 100GB it is taking on my SSD XD I was hoping to pick up some dope games on the Halloween sale but it sucked for me. Hoping the remaining sales this year are better :D

Conclusion

Also really considering getting a PS4, the number of incredible exclusives on that platform are amazing. Just not sure if I should wait for PS5? I wonder if it is worth it getting a PS4/PS4 Pro now this holiday season. I dunno.

Until next time

I am still alive :D

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!

Life Progression

This year was so hectic on so many levels. Had a massive project that ended with an Airshow in September, I have had 2 surgeries to try fix the same problem, hoping this second one sticks now and I went on holiday for like 3 weeks to Germany and surrounding to see friends and family. So will all of that I haven’t been playing too much having said that I am going through a gaming type renaissance at the moment [Again, exactly like last year XD] and really getting into it again :D

Game Progression

Enough of the boring life stuff, here are the games!

So I gave up on The Witcher 1. Halfway through act three I got so over it and just went to The Witcher 2. The backlog increased with the following items over the year:

  • Oxygen Not Included

    46 hours playtime

    no achievements

  • Broforce

    71 minutes playtime

    2 of 17 achievements

  • Kingdoms and Castles

    9 hours playtime

    7 of 12 achievements

  • Orwell: Ignorance is Strength

    11 hours playtime

    19 of 19 achievements

  • Day of the Tentacle Remastered

    22 minutes playtime

    1 of 58 achievements

  • Sid Meier's Civilization VI

    7 minutes playtime

    0 of 191 achievements

  • Owlboy

    0 minutes playtime

    0 of 12 achievements

  • Far Cry 5

    50 hours playtime

    no achievements

  • The Flame in the Flood

    0 minutes playtime

    0 of 36 achievements

  • Apotheon

    34 minutes playtime

    1 of 30 achievements

  • Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™

    44 hours playtime

    38 of 72 achievements

It seems the backlog grew quite a lot this year XD but it also shrunk quite alot. I have had this account for almost 11 years, and as a dumb kid trying to horde every game under the sun I had alot of games that I would never play. So I removed a number of these games to have a more curated steam account. It was a weird feeling deleting them but felt good to clear the clutter :D Minimalism extends to digital irrespective of what the Minimalists might tell you The one bummer with deleting these games is apparently the achievement status still counts to your completion rate but oh well ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I finished Far Cry which is the first game since Far Cry 3 and it was awesome. I really enjoyed it. Sad that there are not achievements because I would have been find to grind that game for all of them :) I have been trying to keep up with all the Oxygen Not Included updates but that seems like a fools errand XD. I completed the second Orwell game which as a bit less interesting than the first one and to get all the achievements this time as a bit grindy. Shadow of War was the most high profile game I have ever won on Steamgifts and it is also one of the coolest games I have ever played. Really REALLY enjoying it :D I bought the expansion pass on Gamersgate for $14 so I have access to all the achievements. I can’t remember when I completed Assassins Creed 3 The servers in South Africa still suck for Team Fortress 2

Conclusion

So thats that. I will try to be more active. I do keep the game list updated and creep the site quite often, just never sit down to write a post.
Thanks for not kicking me out XD

ALSO:
Can someone direct me to that api that runs on your steamgifts profile and tell you your won games completion rate? It was a screening tool for a group a while back but I can find it again :/ Thanks.

EDIT: I found it here –> Tracking Tool

Until next time

Getting the hang of this now

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!

Life Progression

Life is getting a bit blegh at the moment. I think I am hitting that “end of year I want leave” vibes but really enjoying the job still. This first year of working and paying my own way has been tough but I feel great about it. The feeling of independence is awesome.

Game Progression

Now for the real reason we are hare. GAMES! And boy do I have a story to tell you…

Since the last update I have 100% completed 3 other games and won two more \o/ I am really enjoying this single player renaissance that I seem to be going through at the moment. This is quite an achievement seeing as Rebel Galaxy was the first ever game that I 100% got. Now I am up to four and the bug has caught me solid XD
I won Borderlands 2 and Day of the Tentacle [just need to get the link, will update accordingly] so these will be added to the library, keen to play a new point and click. I loved the Monkey Island series so I am happy to give this one a bash now as well. I also bought 6 new games during the Halloween Sale namely Inside, Firewatch, Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Last Light, The Solus Project and World of Goo

I finished Evil Genius for like the 12th time, first time on the Steam Version that I have. It is a brilliant little game and get flippen tough towards the end but I am incredibly keen for the sequel. I suggest you pick it up some time during the upcoming sales if you like management games.

I completed Firewatch to be honest I am a bit sad that it was so short. Walking through the forest was quite great and the achievements were pretty easy. I need to go back and play it with making all the opposite decisions to see what happens but for now there are other games that need my attention.

I completed Orwell this game as great! I feel like it has been over looked somewhat but being a fan of George Orwell’s 1984 this game was so cool. It takes a bit long and requires a butt load of reading but the premise is awesome. Looking forward to the next installment :D

Not sure what I will be playing next, I will probably dive into Inside as well as get back to The Witcher 1 we will see what the future holds. Also keen to get back into Fallout 4, will get the DLC for that soon then dive back in. I also am thinking about diving back into Team Fortress 2 now that the new update has dropped.

  • Evil Genius

    31 hours playtime

    no achievements

  • Firewatch

    4 hours playtime

    10 of 10 achievements

  • Orwell

    11 hours playtime

    27 of 27 achievements

Conclusion

Happy to be getting back into gaming, life seems simpler now :P

Until next time

AHHHHHH FINALLY!!

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!
So it has been an age since my last update XD So here is what has happened :D

Life Progression

So I managed to find myself a job pretty much a week or two after my last update so that has done a lot to carve into my gaming time. With getting a job and being independent came opening up new bank accounts, paying off my car, getting insurance and all those fun things. Having said that I am practically a full blown adult now :D \o/

Game Progression

As of the gaming side of thing, not much has happened either. I won The Stanley Parable in the beginning of the year, bought PUBG a few months later and then just recently bought Rise of the Tomb Raider. I am close to perfecting The Stanley Parable. I just need to wait for a Tuesday and I have FINALLY perfected Rebel Galaxy. It was super grindy at the end but for my first perfect game it feels great :D Now I know why people are so keen on perfecting games :D Every one should get PUBG! I failed the long game monthly theme with The Witcher but I will go back to that game soon :D

  • Rebel Galaxy
    Rebel Galaxy

    52 hours playtime

    37 of 37 achievements

  • PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS
    PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS

    142 hours playtime

    no achievements

  • Rise of the Tomb Raider
    Rise of the Tomb Raider

    3 hours playtime

    7 of 143 achievements

Conclusion

But yeah, a short update to make sure people know I am still about. Life is calming down somewhat so I have more time fore game stuff :D Keen for the sale in October, hopefully I get some prized acquisitions.

Until next time

Things happened.

Hello Backloggers! Here is my potato!

Game Progression

I have been playing a lot of Battlefield 1 as it is much easier to just play that for a short time every/most nights as it is a quick jump in and out. The 200ms ping doesn’t help though but that is alright. I deleted a few games out of my library, 13 to be exact, these were games that I just activated with no intention of ever playing. I would rather have a library of games I might want to play as opposed to games I don’t even want to look at. I played the DOOM Demo, it only took like 30 minutes to complete, to try it out before I entered into the giveaways and it was a cool game. I kinda started SOMA as I have a DRM free version from the humble bundle the same with Jotun as I will be playing these games on the side as they won’t be part of the library. I also accidentally bought the FEB humble bundle monthly as I forgot to cancel the sub XD so that added XCOM 2 to my backlog and the rest I will probably giveaway.

  • Rebel Galaxy
    Rebel Galaxy

    41 hours playtime

    31 of 37 achievements

  • Sid Meier's Civilization V
    Sid Meier's Civilization V

    55 hours playtime

    42 of 287 achievements

  • Valiant Hearts: The Great War
    Valiant Hearts: The Great War

    7 hours playtime

    no achievements

Rebel Galaxy has been a really dope game. I was hoping to have completed it 100% before I made this post but the grind was getting too much for me to do the last few achievements so I have moved on to other things. I will come back to this one in just a little bit :D

Sid Meiers Civ V I love this game so much, so I have been playing it on and off to make some more progress on the achievements but there are so many so I am just working through them slowly. No point in killing the backlog if I am not enjoying it ;)

Valiant Hearts Wow this game was amazing. Although short [I completed it in one day] the game was so good I had to finish it as soon as I could. The emotions were crazy, grateful that there are games like this out there. I highly recommend it.

Conclusion

I haven’t been playing much as I have been distracted reading books, watching TED Talks and trying to find a job. I have had one interview and a few rejections which is never fun but I am hopeful :D I am excited for what this year has in store and I will most likely pick up the backlog pace in the coming weeks. Thank you for not kicking me out :P

Until next time

It's Time

Hello Strangers :D

You might not remember me as a few months ago I kind of just dropped off the face of the earth and limited my Steamgifts presence to entering a few giveaways and posting every now and then in the discussions. This was due to University leveling up for NG+ But now having completed my last exam yesterday, oral exams are super weird, I am ready to devote a lot more time to killing the backlog menace :D

Things that have happened these last few months:

I won a few more games on Steamgifts namely Stardew Valley, Rebel Galaxy and Shadow Complex Remastered
I then promptly started playing Stardew Valley and talked 4 people into buying it :D
I also purchased a two new games namely Ryse: Son of Rome and Valiant Hearts during the Autumn Sale as well as a number of Endless Legend DLC’s
I also purchased the Mass Effect Trilogy on Origin because every gamer should own them :D
Had both my life and Steamgifts cake days
Purchased and have been playing a lot of Battlefield 1, as it is easy to just hop in quickly in the evening. The 200 ping sucks but South Africa is getting servers early 2017 which will be dope :D
Went to Hong Kong for a short 5 day holiday

I am currently playing Stardew Valley, but on the list for this holiday is The Witcher Trilogy. I feel like I will enjoy The Witcher 1 if I just keep going through the initial phase of the game. It is just tough to get into :( I have heard a lot about The Last of Us so I borrowed a PS4 from a friend to play that this weekend so I might not make much progress with Stardew Valley.

My series backlog is a lot more manageable :D Started and finished Westworld which was an absolutely brilliant series and I highly recommend it to anyone.
Vikings, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine Nine and The Walking Dead started again which has been great so I need to catch up on those episodes.
So excited for Sherlock and Grim starting early Jan 2017 XD XD XD

Excited for the holiday, it has been a long time coming. Sorry for the long post, the next ones will be shorter and have pictures XD
