December 2020 is the month of Begin (gaming) Again.

For almost the entire 2020, I was trying to finish my degree, and was afraid to play any game.
Then came December, I finally wrapped up my dissertation, defended, and graduated with my degree (yay!). Finally I dared to play again, and was able to tackle this past year’s gifts and blaze through a few other backlog items.

I think going from 0 games for 11 months then 10+ games in a single month is quite the achievement, no?

I enjoyed these

I tried and am sad that I didn’t enjoy these :’(

I tricked my boyfriend into play these in co-op with me

Tricking him into playing with me involves scrolling through my game libraries for something fun that involves action (for him) and adventure (for me) and that can run on my lap toaster. It’s a challenge every time.
(so leave a comment if you know an action/adventure co-op game that is either local or isn’t computationally taxing! xD )

Hope for a great 2021!

Well done on getting your degree and getting some games in quickly. To me battleblock feels like you should play multiplayer and yes you can do a single player map on the game its not the same. I got gifted it and surprisingly played it with my ex, it just felt more fun then I was just speeding through by myself. Just getting characters was nice with someone else. Cant say I’m really happy about having the items stuck on my profile though, steam really just needs to let us delete items that we don’t want.

Thank you! :D
Yeah, you’re right, BattleBlock Theatre might be much more fun in co-op since a lot of the level designs utilize that. Perhaps that is the way to go. I might try to trick my boyfriend to play it sometimes in the future, since BattleBlock has a similar feel to Rayman, and he seems to like that one. :d

Congrats! And that’s quite a list of awesome short games.

Yukin

Thanks! I think nowadays I prefer ~2 hours games, and gets too impatient if the game is 6+ hours xD

Would you recommend Minit? I tried it for a few mins but … I’m not sure what I feel about it

Yukin

I personally enjoyed it. But I’m into adventure, secrets-finding, and quirky (but non-punishing) game mechanics. It really depends on what you are into. Though I would say if you played it for an hour and still don’t feel it, it’s probably safe to drop it.

One Step from Eden was a huge disappointment for me as I enjoyed Mega Man Battle Network (from which it is copied). Reviews were raving but it just didn’t click for me. Still playing it, though I have set the difficulty to the minimum.

Yukin

Oh! I didn’t realize there was a difficulty setting for One Step from Eden.
The reviews were so overwhelmingly positive that I got high hope for it, which makes this even more sad :( I might attempt it again with the easiest difficulty level when I find the time again.

I recommend adjusting it as it fixes some of the problems I had. At least the ludicrous game speed with pretty high difficulty factor (roguelike and quite complex mechanics). I still feel that the mix core mechanics still just don’t work for me but changing difficulty made it more bearable.
