August’s Stats

aka. Another small victory

Another busy month IRL but I managed to cram more gaming time than in the first part of summer, and finish a few games, plus play a lot more of some others. I hope your summer went well and you’ve been playing interesting games. Stay safe and see you in a month.

Serial Cleaner

7 hours playtime, 23 of 28 achievements

Okayish but pretty repetitive and unoriginal when it comes to stealth mecanics. I ended up not even going back to check the special movie themed levels I unlocked via collectibles, even though I had planned to. Unless it's already in your backlog and you have nothing better to play, I'd say pass.

GRIS

5 hours playtime, 10 of 17 achievements

The most beautiful looking game I've played in a long while. It's a game about loss and grief so it might not be the happiest one, but it's soothing, relaxing and a great visual adventure. Definitely a strong recommend.

The Adventure Pals

11 hours playtime, 27 of 31 achievements

A really fun and colorful action plateformer with a bit of RPG flavor. I loved it more than I thought I would, maybe because I wasn't expecting much. The whole thing can be played in co-op too, and it seems like it could be a lot of fun.

A Case of Distrust

2 hours playtime, 10 of 10 achievements

An underwhelming disappointment from what I was expecting. Visually it was as good as what I thought, as I love that stylized minimalist art style. Sadly, the story was very cliché. It only took me 2 hours to finish it, and yet I felt it was already dragging. Meh.

Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure

2 hours playtime, 3 of 26 achievements

A dodgeball game, not much to say except it's fun to play, but I'm sure it would be a lot more fun with friends.

Dropsy

4 hours playtime, 30 of 30 achievements

Well, THAT was a surprise. With a clown as the protagonist, I was expecting some horror freak show, especially from some of the creepy visuals I had seen. The game is actually a mix between super sweet and super creepy stuff but not in the way I expected. I actually ended up being quite attached to the clown (she never said ever). A great point and click with the Devolver Digital twist on the cuteness. Recommended.

Maybe you have a clown fetish and you were totally unaware of it… until now ;)

aonrao

Idk about that but where’s your monthly post? :(

polsdestrella

I’m super late, I’ll have to do a super catch up at some point because these last days of Summer are being crazy with changing the floors of the whole apartment cries

aonrao

Ah good luck with all that. I’ll be waiting for the post :)

aonrao

You have 700+ hours on Terraria - you must love the game a lot. I have less than 30 and I feel like I’m done with it.
I’m also looking forward to Spiritfarer! What do you think of it so far?
Also, I agree with what you said about Serial Cleaner - I’m struggling to continue with it. I really want to get it over with but it’s just so boring. I’ll be very happy when I finally push myself through the remaining half of the main game, and I’ll also ignore the additional levels when I get there.

EvilBlackSheep

I have kind of done everything there is to do in Terraria BUT i like to build stuff. I see it like an endless box of lego bricks, and I find it very relaxing to empty my head when I’m stressed out with IRL. (which was the case this summer so it was pretty helpful to go back to it)

Spiritfarer is everything i expected from it, and then some. I am only a few hours in (and the devs were announcing about 50h to explore all the content) but so far I love it. It’s very chill and relaxing, there is no pressure into playing it. The theme might feel sad but the result is actually pretty wholesome. Did you try the demo? It’s pretty much what you could see in the demo but more elaborated and with various things to do. If you liked the demo I can say you’ll like the game.

As for Serial Cleaner, it’s a bummer. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t get more exciting sadly. I just pushed through it (with the addition of cleaning all the blood in each levels to add a bit of a challenge cuz it was getting a bit dull and easy). It’s sad cuz I thought the concept was a fun idea but the execution is really meh. Weirdly, they’re making a sequel to it.

I haven’t tried the Spiritfarer demo but it looks really good. I want to buy it but I can’t justify buying more games now, especially without a discount. I’ll definitely check it out during the next big sale. :)

EvilBlackSheep

It’s on the gamepass too if you have access to it, and there is the 1 month for 1€ deal still going on. (plus all the other good games currently on it)

Zelrune

You played Spiritfarer?? How did it go?

EvilBlackSheep

I’m only a few hours in so I haven’t completed it, but so far, so very good. Like I told aonrao just up, it’s really a chill, relaxing and overall wholesome game. I feel like the demo was a good sample of it (loved the demo and the game was exactly what i expected going from there), but then of course the gameplay expends on it and has a lot more to it.

LeoTurambar

I’m very curious about Spiritfarer too, I think I may go for the Xbox GamePass and play it :D

EvilBlackSheep

The Game Pass is a great deal to try any game that’s on it, to be honest I keep recommending it. I hope you like Spiritfarer, it’s such a nice and chill game.
