Recap of 2025 & Outview 2026

2025

2025 I was able to reduce my backlog quite a bit. The amount of beaten/completed games is less than in 2024 but this was due to that I played more longer games. Additionally I added the least new games in a year since 2016 and that even with the whole bunch of snowballs in December :D

Thanks to the successful challenge for at least 150 wins played and “only” 47 wins I was also able to reduce my win backlog a lot too. I have 43.5% finished wins so it’s still a long way to go but maybe I will reach the 50% at the end of 2027 :)

2026

For 2026 I set up again some goals I want to reach within the year:

Beat all games on the Yearly Challenge 2026 list

This time it will be Simulation games of all kinds thanks to the votes of our lovely PAGYWOSG/PoP discord. I think it’s a good mix of hopefully good and most likely bad games :D

Beat all games on the Secret Santa 2025 list

Okay this will be a though one as there are quite a lot long games on it and it might still grow. (Just got snowballed again while doing this post :D) But I will try my best to finish them all :)

Beat all least 50% of the games on the Runs on a Toaster list

As I wrote already last month my laptop gave up at the end of November so I’m currently on my work laptop (which is not bad but only has an integrated graphic card). Therefore I will concentrate on the games with lower hardware requirements. For this I made this challenge and selected 100 games which would even run on a way worse laptop. The goal is to beat at least half of those games till the end of the year.

Beat all least 50% of the games on the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Play Them list

I already had a lot of fun with games with animal protagonists in 2025 like A Short Hike, Little Kitty, Big City or TUNIC so I put together a challenge with 80 games with animal protagonists and plan to beat at least half of them.

Beat all least 50% of the games on the Trust Issues list

In this challenge I put together 40 games which are at least recommended by one Steam friend and not recommended by another. I plan to beat at least half of them. Let’s see who I can trust more in the end :D

Beat all least 75% of the games on the Old wins

As I wrote earlier, I made good progress on my wins but there are still a lot of games which I won ages ago and still haven’t played. To change this I selected 100 games I won in the years 2017-2019 and plan to at least beat 3/4 of them.

Beat all least 50% of the games added in 2025

I added so many great games to my backlog in 2025 and already played 20% of them. My goal is to increase the finish rate to at least 50% by the end of the year.
