8th Week of 2023
Hey everyone :-) !
A few weeks flew by without me noticing, but this is mainly thanks to two factors: one is that university is starting to get tough, and the other is that I finally got a Steam Deck! It is an amazing device, I’m really happy with it - I was a bit hesitant at first since I sold my Switch after just about half a year of using it irregularly, but after I played with the Deck for a few hours all of my fears disappeared. I’m still a newbie so I didn’t configure it 100% - maybe someone here has some experience with PowerTools? It looks like a useful thing but I cannot really understand it…

I really enjoyed Lake. Any interest in restoring a save and seeing the other endings? I’m not sure if endings can get “locked out” by earlier choices, though.

Hmm well I won’t lie to you, I was a bit disappointed :(
I really tried to like the game since it was a perfect cozy game at first, driving around felt like a relaxing experience; I really liked where the story progressed, but around halfway through the game, everything started to feel like a chore to me.
But this wasn’t the actual problem for me - while it indicated that it is available on the Deck, I literally got barely 2 hours of battery time with it, the GPU went all the way to 100%, and without a headphone the fans were that much loud that I barely heard the game xD
I’m sure it would be different on PC, but this way I didn’t really feel much relaxation…
However, I would be curious about the endings!
(I choose the ending where I stayed in P.O with Meredith but was really disappointed that Angie literally just disappeared. Like, wouldn’t they maybe say goodbye at least to each other? I know from the achievements that one ending could be with her, so I’m a bit tempted to see that. Sadly couldn’t do the savefile thingy since I played it on the Deck, and I don’t think I want to play it again from the beginning…)

Interesting, the Store page lists it as Verified Steam Deck compatibility. Other posts report playing it fine on a Deck, so maybe it’s worth a forum post outlining your issues.
Anyway, yeah I think if you don’t say or do the right thing at a critical juncture, she’s kind of written out. I think the game allows manual saves (unless that’s disabled on the Steam Deck?) so I just made saves before ending each day so I could backtrack as necessary.
This Store Page compatibility from what I gathered since I got the Deck is sometimes a bit tricky - for instance, in most cases Lake runs completely fine, however as you also know the game is “open-worldish”, so for instance my GPU started running high when I got into the forest, which is a really dense environment and most likely wasn’t optimized for a handheld console like this. I prefer ProtonDB since it gives real user reviews and trips on improving performance ^^
I also did a quick save every single day (even multiple times per day!), but I will be honest - I don’t have the desire to see all the endings in almost every game that has multiple. This isn’t Lake’s issue, I just don’t see a point in playing another couple of hours or so just to see a different cutscene.
One of my favorite games is Life Is Strange, however, I only saw one ending till this point, and I don’t plan to see the other :D ! I would like to keep the memory as it is - it is my stupidity I guess, but that’s it xD
No worries– not trying to say you should play the other endings. I was only responding to your, “I would be curious about the endings!” after describing the technical problems.
