LOG #2

HI! This is my second week on my crusade to beat my Steamgifts wins. How has it been? Marvelous. I’ve beaten not one, not two, but three games (well, being honest here, I don’t even know if one can be count as “beaten”), here they are:

  • Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut
    Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

    29 hours playtime

    18 of 39 achievements

  • Ys Origin
    Ys Origin

    12 hours playtime

    5 of 46 achievements

  • Okhlos
    Okhlos

    6 hours playtime

    9 of 38 achievements

And now is (crappy)reviews time!

  • Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut: Do I love this game? Yes. How much? A lot. Really. This was my first approach to the Dragonfall franchise and I enjoyed every hour expended here. It was difficult as fuck in normal difficulty, and I fucked it up a few times, but whatever. The story is great, very mature, and their characters are no less. The roleplaying aspect is very well done and the missions have a few different paths to take according on how you play, which is a nice touch, but there aren’t any branching paths until the end. Oh, and I would advice going decker.

  • Ys Origin: What can I say? I didn’t found a single mistake on this masterpiece, well, maybe that the story is a little bit plain, but it’s understandable since this is just one game in a major saga. I beat Yunica’s story (I plan to do the other two stories I have left) and I just had such a great time with it. The bosses were great, the villains too and moving throught the tower was a pleasure. I highly recommed the game. I hope I can win the other Ys’ to play them all!

  • Okhlos: Do you like roguelikes? PLAY OKHLOS! You don’t? PLAY IT ANYWAY. It’s fun, challenging, the humour is very nice and it’s just… awesome! I’m not a great fan of roguelikes, but this just conquered my heart. The only bad thing is that my computer seems to have problems with it and it crashes a lot, so be careful if you have a shitty laptop like me.*

*I don’t know how to mark this… I’ve beaten it twice in different modes, but I feel I can’t mark it as “beaten”, being a roguelike and all that. Anyway, I’ll keep playing this, because I still have a lot of things to unlock and bosses to beat.

Well, what’s next? This:

  • Okhlos
    Okhlos

    6 hours playtime

    9 of 38 achievements

  • The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

    0 minutes playtime

    0 of 27 achievements

I’ll keep playing Okhlos and this new and flashy game I won yesterday, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky another JRPG from the creators of Ys. Actually, I played it a long time ago on PSP, but my poor PSP died before I could finish the game, I didn’t have the time to play it much, though.

But, let’s see what howlongtobeat.com have to say about the game:

Why?? I’m sure I won’t have time to finish the game this month, but I’ll keep playing it and maybe someday I will finish it.

Just before I left, a curiosity: I have less wins on Steamgifts than here. The missing game is King Arthur’s Gold. Apparently the reason is this:

Way to be a dick, creator… That’s all, happy gaming to all of you!!

PD: I need to learn how to do better posts…

Arbiter Libera

Hey, glad to hear you’re making headway into your backlog.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut

Widely considered to be the best out of the entire Shadowrun Returns trilogy and definitely a very good game on its own. I would suggest going with a mage because there’s no mage companion at all in the game, though. In fact, I think that’s a valid recommendation for the entire trilogy.

PS.
Nah, your posts are fine. Succinct and readable.

noakubrick

And I see it’s the best for a reason :D My next stop is Hong Kong, which I’m sure it’s great too. I suggested a decker because I missed Blitz call and I was deckerless for half a game (I know I could hire people, but I was always short on money too) and almost screwed my playthrough. But true, your’s a good recommendation too, I’ll try it in Hong Kong.

Arbiter Libera

Yeah, problem is game assumes you’ll roll with your established characters. But Hong Kong makes Dragonfall absolutely generous with how stingy it is with money. Even if you’re not a hybrid class you really need to find all the marketable data/do side missions to have enough dosh to get most of your upgrades. Most, mind you.

noakubrick

Great, just great T.T. Well, I think I’ll use all that I learned with Dragonfall and your advices to have a better run with Hong Kong, and I’ll try to manage the money better.

UlverHausu

I must have Trails in the Sky, maybe i gave it away :I

I also reroll for regifting, just following the rules of the site and reroll are answered quicker

noakubrick

What a pity :(

Oh, sure, what that creator did deserved a punishment, wish I could blacklist him, regifting is not cool at all, but it took me by surprise, not all days you wake up with an activated gift less on your wins page. By the way… did the last part sounded like I was the one who did the regift? Because that would be a problem.

UlverHausu

No, actually it looks obvious. i read reroll, but actually it clearly states deleted, I have no idea why….
So the GA had already ended, it was deleted later by support…that makes sense, never followed one around to see what happens afterwards

Forsaken

Your post already looks awesome. You don’t need anything more than that :) Congratulations on your new win and I hope you enjoy it and get a chance to finish it this time.

Adelion

Well, I got Blitz so I didn’t need an additional Decker for Dragonfall. Also don’t like the class to much. Tried a druid in my first run which sadly crossed with the already existing one and he is to support focused for my taste. In my second run I did a Street Samurai I think (it was a melee character with a bladed weapon) and I liked that one very much. This will probably be my choice too if I soon start Hong Kong.

And congratulations for getting one run through the Tower. I’m not sure anymore if 12 hours is fast O.o I think I took longer but I also searched everywhere and did my first run already on Nightmare (not so sure about that anymore). And it seems you spoilered yourself already. Or is the third story already unlocked after completing the game once as Yunica. I thought you have to play at least one time with Hugo. What difficulty did you play on?

noakubrick

I wanted to try a Street Samurai, seemed cool, maybe on another run. A decker is definitely boring, but usefull, considerig my situation.

Is fast according to howlongtobeat, yeah, I was playing on easy so I didn’t need to grind (but I think I did get all the Roda fruits, Roos and ores), because I needed to play something lighter after Dragonfall, I do plan to increase the difficulty with Hugo and the other character (Toal, I think, and yes, you can unlock it completing the game as either Yunica or Hugo).

escollo

Nah, you post is already good.
And what a dumbass is this regifter. Well, tbh I’m regifter too, but at least I was never caught ^__^

noakubrick

Oh, I’m curious: What’s the purpose of that? I just don’t understand the motives behind it…

escollo

Just joking. I once got 2-copy pack instead just 1 game. When I asked GA creator if he wanted 1 copy back he said to create my own GA with it. So technically I’m regifter too, even if I didn’t break the rules =D

noakubrick

Fuck, sorry for assuming and not understanding the joke. I suppose I’ll have to live withouth knowing the answer to that behaviour, tho haha. But that sure is an interesting way of regifting ^^

LastM

I always wanted to try the Ys series. I loved the legend of heroes. I finished it in ~34h and I did sa lot of extra stuff because of the achievements. It’s still a long game, but it’s not as long as they say on HLTB. The game is really good. The soundtrack is amazing.

noakubrick

Do it when you have time, I’m sure you won’t regret it. And that is certainly reassuring, thanks, 30-35 hours is something I can get behind.
