StupidUselessHuman’s profile
- Genre preferences: Story-focused, choice-based, cozy, RPGs, and visual novels. Also trying to get into horror games as horror is my favorite genre ever when it comes to in other media but when it comes to video games, I find them too scary. I'm hoping to desensitize myself a little bit.
- Rating system: My ratings are extremely subjective. I tend to overrate and underrate things (as of writing this, 31% of my Letterboxd ratings are 5/5 lol). I also rate games relative to their genre/type, so a 10/10 visual novel isn't always "better" than an 8/10 non-VN game. One more thing, if I seem to complain a lot but still rate the game highly, that's because I find it easier to talk about what I hated compared to what I liked. It probably didn't annoy me as much as it appeared to be.
- About my Unfinished and "Never" Played lists: I've decided to put games that I did play before, never beaten, but have plans on restarting from scratch when I do play it again, to Never Played instead of Unfinished. I prefer to use the Unfinished list for games where I plan to continue my save (e.g. Ace Attorney) or I've done one ending/route but still have more to do (e.g. Katawa Shoujo).
- Backlogs Tier lists: I'm pretty much just judging things by their cover.
- Tier A: I either bought it or really wanted it and if I had money I'd have bought it myself anyway (e.g. Dredge, which I got from a Lenovo giveaway).
- Tier B: I got it for free, would never buy it, but looks pretty good.
- Tier C: It doesn't look "bad" enough to be in D, but also doesn't look interesting enough to be in B.
- Tier D: Mostly the same as the "Trash" tier but they're a bit better since I don't dislike them enough to private them.
- Trash (privated): I used to just add any game I saw on r/freegamefindings but after a while I hated how cluttered my Steam library looked. I removed a lot of games from my account, but these ones survived. I still don't really like them, but I feel like there was actual effort put into it so I'm not going to remove them yet. But I still don't like them cluttering my library so, they'll be privated for now.

July 2026
Little Problems: It was harder than what I was expecting. I thought it was okay but I don’t think I like this type of puzzle. My brain really struggled figuring out and remembering who did what. The cats were cute though. 6/10.
Arcade Spirits: Also just kind of okay. I didn’t vibe with the humor but I did like most of the characters. I had very low expectations with the voice acting but it wasn’t as cringe as I was expecting. It was actually pretty good. The routes I did were QueenBee, Ashley, and Naomi, though I can’t rank them because I feel like they were all relatively the same quality. 7/10.
Starpoint Gemini 2: I liked the gameplay loop, but I think forcing myself to beat the campaign made me dislike the game a little bit. I did not care about the story at all, I actually stopped paying attention to it. If I didn’t make myself beat the campaign, I think I’d have stopped at 10 hours in and have a better experience. I just felt very underpowered in the story quests even though I thought I had the best ship/equipment I could get for my rank. There were also a lot of times where you have to fight multiple enemies in a row, and when you die, you start from the nearest station you were in, fly back to the mission area, wait for the long unskippable dialogues to end, and fight again. So it also just felt tedious to do. The free roam was more fun because combat actually felt balanced and more fair. Either way it’s a 6/10.
Jolly Good: Cakes and Ale: One of the more unique Hosted Games/Choice of Games because it’s a British comedy instead of yet another fantasy drama. While it’s well-written, the story just feel incomplete. It’s supposed to be a trilogy but the second game is taking way too long to be released. I mean this one was released in Nov 2020 and we’re only getting the sequel in Dec 2026 and it won’t even be the full game, just 1/3rd of it (apparently the second game was too long so the author has to slowly release the rest). There’s a lot of replayability but the story as a whole is just lacking at the moment. I’d still give this an 8/10 but honestly, just check out the author’s other game set in the same universe called Tally Ho which is actually a complete story. I’d recommend waiting for this one to be fully released (though that might be in 2030 minimum lol).
Our World is Ended: The art, voice acting, characters, and OST (for my fellow VOCALOID fans, 164 made the vocal songs in the game) are great and it felt like a very well-polished visual novel. The story itself is mediocre though and the dialogues felt repetitive at times. The humor wasn’t the best either. I didn’t really find most of the “jokes” funny. It’s just perverted for the sake of being perverted. There was also a lot of anime bullshit that might be hard to ignore if you’re not used to ignoring them. But the characters were really fun and they definitely made this game better than it should be.
I was initially planning on giving this an 8 because I really enjoyed the characters but I think Tatiana’s route disgusted me too much and also the secret route (Reina) and just that character’s ending in general disappointed me. I did their route last because I thought it’d be the game’s true ending in the sense that we could save them but no, it’s more of a bad ending and even the end screen says so (“Our World is bad end”). I really enjoyed the early to middle point but I think the later parts and the endings were too underwhelming and disappointing so I’m giving this a 5/10.
Route rankings: Natsumi >>>>> Asano = Yuno > Iruka > Owari >>>>> Tatiana = Secret Route.

Goals for August 2026
I didn’t manage to beat most of the games I had planned for this month because OWiE took too much of my time. I’m really glad to be done with that VN. Anyhoo, I’m dropping the RE4R 100% idea for now. I joined Play or Pay last month and I want to start beating my picked games. I’m not sure if I have the time for 100%ing RE4R. I still want to 100% Pentiment though. Danganronpa 2 and Wantless are probably going to take me multiple months before beating again, similar to OWiE and SG2.

June 2026
I forgot that there wasn’t a June 31 lol. Almost posted this in July. Anyway.
Summerhouse: I’m way too uncreative for this game. I also felt like it was a bit limiting but then I checked the screenshots over in its community page and other people made really great things, so might’ve been a me-problem. 6/10.
Little Nightmares: What a gorgeous, amazing game this was. Very atmospheric and creepy. While I did find it scary, I don’t think I ever got so scared that I didn’t want to open it. Although I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve watched some streamers play it (+DLC and sequel) before. That was years ago though and I didn’t actually remember as much as I thought I did. The constant checkpoints might’ve also helped. Part of why I get really scared with horror games is because of the loss of progress and backtracking when you die so I just freeze up and pause the game whenever there is danger. I hated the forced controller rumble though, there’s no in-game settings to turn it off and turning off game rumble in my Steam settings didn’t work (in hindsight, I might’ve needed to turn on Steam input or something). I really just dislike rumble, it doesn’t do anything for me and it just makes the controller drain its battery faster. I have nothing bad to say about the game itself though. 10/10.
Heavy Rain: I’m one of the people who unironically loved Detroit: Become Human. Not just Connor’s route, but Kara and Markus’ too. Even with Heavy Rain being way worse than DBH, I still had fun. Until the plot twist. Gonna put everything in spoiler tag as it’s hard to talk about this without spoiling it. I draw a line at the game lying to the players. That was the worst “unreliable narrator” trope I’ve ever seen, if you can even call it that. I’m sure there were other ways to do it without having to resort to just lying and giving the user false information because Cage can’t figure out how to make his shitty plot twist work. 2/10.
Pentiment: I’m not a religious person and I also don’t know much about history, and yet I absolutely loved this game. I don’t think I was ever bored except maybe in the beginning when it was introducing a lot of characters and setting the world up. I also tend to be wary of things that have religious themes since it’s hard to know at first if it’s just meant to try and convert the audience, but this game was not that at all. I think both religious and non-religious people can enjoy this game, even more so if you love history. Every character has their own beliefs and I don’t think it was ever really forced upon you. You can push back on certain things or lean into them if you want to. It just feels like a very human game, most characters were nuanced. There were only a few characters that were genuinely unlikable. And I like seeing how your choices affect people’s lives. The art and OST were fantastic as well. 10/10, probably the best game I’ve played this year thus far, not counting replays. I’m really glad to have won this game over at SteamGifts.
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante: I didn’t enjoy this game as much as I was hoping to. While I felt that the supernatural aspect made it more unique, the story itself felt boring to me. I don’t know if me just having finished Pentiment affected my enjoyment of this one. Pentiment was really just such a phenomenal game/story but anyway, I was pretty close to dropping this one. I actually ended up looking into the different routes of the game and spoiling myself a bit. The rebel/Lotless route sounded fun so I decided to restart my save and intentionally went for Lotless instead of trying to be a noble. I stopped taking the game seriously and read some of the boring parts faster. Doing those made my experience better so 5/10.
Dishonored 2 (replay + 100%): I did 3 playthroughs. High Chaos Emily, No Powers Corvo, and NG+ Corvo (from the High Chaos Emily save) for the Possession and 60% loot achievement. My favorite experience was the NG+, love having access to both powers. I’ll probably just stick to playing as Emily in the future though. The main story seems to fit her more. Speaking of the main story, it’s the worst thing about this otherwise amazing game IMO. It was just boring and underwhelming considering how great the lore and worldbuilding is. I also dislike the pacing and how the missions were ordered. I feel like it was a bit too random. For example, I think the Crown Killer stuff should’ve been a bigger subplot instead of being done by the third mission. That said, the game itself was great. It was really fun to run around and find different ways to progress through an area. I don’t think I was ever bored even though I’ve played this game four times by now. Having no powers was a fun experience too and it wasn’t as hard as I was expecting. As for my favorite levels, it’s Dust District and A Crack in the Slab, though my favorite story-wise would be The Good Doctor (I don’t think I can ever get myself to kill Dr. Hypatia even on a high chaos run).
Honestly, it’s really just the main story dragging it down for me. It’s hard for me to separate the gameplay from the story because of how interesting the world of this game is. It’s not like Hitman: World of Assassination where even though I have 121.4 hours on that game, I can’t tell you a single thing about its main story. I’ve never understood what it was really about and I just stopped paying attention. It just feels completely separate from the gameplay, so I am able to ignore it and still give the game a 10/10. For Dishonored 2, though, I think I’ll stick with the 8/10 rating I gave it last month. I was thinking of bumping it to 9 but it didn’t feel right. I am looking forward on playing the first Dishonored game again, managed to grab it during the Steam sale because it was 90% off for the GOTY edition.

Goals for July 2026
Mostly gonna focus on Our World is Ended and Starpoint Gemini 2. I liked the gameplay loop of SG2 but it’s being a bit of a slog, I’m not really paying attention to the story of the campaign so I’m kind of rushing it now. OWiE is fine, I like the characters even with some of the typical “anime bullshit” I’ve had to make myself ignore. Probably gonna beat that first before I start Danganronpa 2. I’m really excited to start my second playthrough of Pentiment though. Probably gonna 100% that and RE4R. I don’t pay much attention to Hosted Games/Choice of Games releases anymore so I’ve completely missed that Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven had finally released Part 4. If you’re not familiar with HG/CoG games, sequels (which are actually continuation of a story instead of typical game sequels with new stories/characters) take years to release, part of why I’ve left the community, the waiting was too much. I’m excited to get into ZESH again though, it’s one of the best HG/CoG games IMO.
EDIT: I just realized I didn’t have any achievements on ZESH. I think they remade it when Part 4 came out. When I opened it, a bunch of achievements popped up. Now my stats look suspicious because they have the same date and time but not sure what else I can do here. ¯\(ツ)/¯

May 2026
Monster Hunter: World: I found the combat a bit slow at first but after a while I got used to it and it became pretty fun. The story was really boring but thankfully it didn’t take up too much time. The worst part of the main quest IMO was probably the two Zorah boss “fights” which took ~20 minutes each. I think it was supposed to feel epic but it didn’t work for me. I mean it was cool for the first 5 minutes then I was just sick of it. But its main pull, hunting monsters, that was great. I’m rating this one a 7/10 but I think it could get a higher score on my replay. I don’t think my experience did it justice (had to play with 30fps since 60fps was stuttering too much, I underestimated the system requirements lol, also won it at SG so no refunds). I’m definitely going to buy the Iceborne DLC and replay this game once I upgrade my rig.
Not Tonight: I feel conflicted with this game. It’s a game like “Papers, Please” but you play as a bouncer. I liked the sound design and the art. I thought it was cool how the OST sounds muffled at first then when you let a customer in, it gets clearer and louder. Unfortunately, the gameplay loop is rather boring and it’s way too long given how little variety it has. There were barely any new rules and there were too many days where it’s just the same as the previous ones. I also didn’t care about the story and I never really felt any moral dilemmas. There was actually only one time where I felt bad. It was during chapter 3 when it was revealed the “food bank” was a trap to find people to deport. But even with all that, for some reason, I have this urge to replay and 100% it. I think I got used to the gameplay and also I didn’t get the good ending which has been annoying me a little bit. I initially rated this game as 2/10 but I’m bumping it to 4/10. It definitely would’ve been better if it was shorter though.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent: I said in my previous post that my goal for this one during this month was only to get through the midpoint but I really wanted to be done with this game so I forced myself to just beat it already. 10/10, will probably never play it again. It’s really scary, what else do you want me to say? I’ve already heard about the water monster before but it’s still way scarier than what I was expecting. The story was also pretty great. I mean it’s not as good as SOMA (the developers’ other work) but to be fair that’s a high bar to clear lol.
Beyond a Steel Sky: I really enjoyed this game. I loved the setting/world and the characters. They’re quirky, but I mean that in a positive way. They’re all just such a joy to talk to, especially Joey. I don’t think you need to play the first game (Beneath a Steel Sky) but I feel like that improved my experience a bit since I was able to get the references the game makes (there was also one returning side character). I was almost going to rate it 10/10 but I’m “only” rating it 8/10 because I did not like the ending. Either way I’m glad this was my first SG win as I’ve never heard of this game before that. I hope they eventually make a third game.
Dishonored 2: It’s been years since I’ve played the first game so I can’t compare them but I really liked the gameplay of this one (I played as Emily). I was save-scumming a lot though, I decided to go for the no kills and detection achievements for my first playthrough for some reason. I’m not going to uninstall this one yet, I want to replay it and do a high chaos run and maybe even try to 100% it. Throughout my playthrough I was just itching to kill the NPCs lol (and I might or might not have done it a few times and just reloaded a save afterwards…). I feel like there was something missing though. I think the story felt a bit lacking/underwhelming but that might’ve been my fault. I’m giving this one an 8/10 for now. My rating might change once I replay it and actually take my time.
For the People: I won this one over at SG just a few days ago. Figured it was short enough and it looked interesting so I went and played it. Unfortunately I didn’t like it that much. The game’s world and lore were just confusing the hell out of me. A lot of the explanation about the world is in this “map” that you can read but it was pretty long and I didn’t find it interesting enough to actually spend time reading. I feel like the game itself was also too short and the storyline and characters felt underdeveloped. My first playthrough was around 3 hours and the remaining 6 hours was spent figuring out stats combination for the achievements (as the only guide in this game is in Russian and pretty vague on things, you have to figure out how to get the right stats on your own), not like, different paths in the game or something. Had potential but otherwise, 5/10.
SOMA (replay): I love SOMA. I’ve been itching to replay it and I remembered I had a save from January 29 that I’ve never finished, so I went and continued that one. I need to do a full replay again soon. Maybe if they finally release some new info (new trailer? release date? please I’ll take anything) on ONTOS (SOMA’s “spiritual” sequel made by the same devs) during the upcoming showcases. That game is my GTA 6. I need it NOW god damn it.

Goals for June 2026
Everything except for Our World is Ended, Starpoint Gemini 2, and Station to Station were picked from this month’s Challenge Me thread. I have some progress with Our World is Ended, Rollerdrome, and Starpoint Gemini 2 already.
Rollerdrome & Starpoint Gemini 2: No thoughts yet besides that I’m liking both of them so far.
Our World is Ended: Way longer than what I was expecting it to be. I think most of the completions in HLTB were skipping the voice acting (I’ve listened to the vast majority of them so far, I’ve only skipped the VA a few times). Granted, I was also alt-tabbing and idling occasionally since I have a poor attention span. My actual hours would still be around ~20 hours minimum though, and considering I’m not even finished yet, it’s probably going to be way more than the average over at HLTB for just the main story (average is 26.5 hours and the only one with a note about not skipping the VA is 40 hours). Definitely underestimated how long this one is.

Beneath a Steel Sky: It was okay, though I got stuck a lot and had to rely on guides. I think if I was better at these point and click games and didn’t use guides at all, I’d probably enjoy it more. Still a pretty solid 6/10.
Neo Cab: Can I be honest? I thought you could drive around in this game lol. In hindsight, if that was a feature, they’d probably mention it in its Steam page. Either way, I think I ultimately liked this game, but there were definitely parts I hated. Like the main story. I hated the main story. It was boring, I didn’t care about it, and everything that was about this character in the game, Savy, was the worst. But everything else, your interactions with the other characters that isn’t about the main story, was great. I especially loved Oona, Klaus & Marek, and Gideon. I’d give it a 6/10.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc: I almost dropped this game because of the 2nd case but I’m glad I pushed through it. It really redeemed itself around the 4th case. I like the cast we had by then. A lot of the characters early on felt like they were just there to fill a character quota lol. It was also really easy compared to Ace Attorney and Zero Escape, but I think I didn’t really mind that since it kept the game going and it was just a nice change of pace. I’m giving this one an 8/10.

Goals for May 2026
As much as I want to get started with Danganronpa 2, the amount of unplayed SG wins I have is getting too much for my liking so I’ll focus on those for this month. And yes, still haven’t beaten Amnesia (been trying to beat it for 2-3 months now I think), game is too scary so I keep procrastinating it lol. But I have been making progress… er, very very tiny progress, but still progress nonetheless. My goal for Amnesia this month is to reach halfway through the game. I should probably clarify that I only have 1h 49m playtime on my current save, not 5h. The remaining hours were probably me in the pause menu or my prior attempts of beating it.
March 2026
The games I originally planned to beat this month were Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Choice of Robots, Danganronpa 1, and Dredge, but unfortunately I was only able to beat 2/4. The reason is that I won My Time at Sandrock at a giveaway over at SteamGifts and I had been wanting to join one of those “beat the game you win” groups. I had chosen MTAS as my game of choice (you had to pick an unplayed game and then beat it to be approved to join). And it’s a really long game.
My thoughts on the games that I beat this month:
Choice of Robots: Better than what I remembered. I really love this “game”. I think I did 2-3 playthroughs? I’ll probably revisit it at some point as there’s still a lot of content I haven’t seen. It does make me want to play more games of the similar genre. I do have one that I’ve never beaten at all in my library (Life of a Space Force Captain), I might play that soon. I guess I’ll see what I feel. I still have other games I want to beat first.
Dredge: The early to mid game was a great experience, but endgame was pretty boring. It really loses its steam once you have upgraded your ship.
My Time at Sandrock: I really liked it at first but it just went on and on and on, and by act 3, I was kind of sick of it and pretty much just rushed it so I can be done with the game. I still like it though. I think the fatigue I felt was because I played it too much. I’m looking forward on replaying it in the future and just taking my time.

Goals for April 2026
I’ve also played other games during March that I did not beat before the month ended. Which are the following listed below. I want to beat them first before trying another game. Amnesia’s really scary, but I’ll make sure to beat that this month. Danganronpa I played a bit (the prior hours was from idle farming cards) and to be honest, I was surprised that you could actually move in it. I thought it was going to be more like the typical visual novel and while I have heard before that it’s one of the games with a “gameplay”, I was expecting something like Ace Attorney’s or Zero Escape 999’s. I did not realize I’d actually be able to move around. And as for Beneath a Steel Sky, this one I never planned to play in my prior post at all, but its sequel was one of the games I’ve won in SG before and I want to beat that game at some point. I just want to play its (free, I might add) prequel first. I’m actually half-way through already so I’m probably going to try and beat it first.
Goals for March 2026
Here is the list of games that I plan to beat and hopefully 100% this month (it’s already March here). Dredge is the only one here that I already have some progress on, so I hope I can beat it by next week. Although I have played Choice of Robots before in my phone. It’s one of the better games of its niche genre (interactive fiction and specifically Hosted Games/Choice of Games) so I’m very much looking forward to playing it again. I am not however looking forward to playing Amnesia. I’m too much of a wuss when it comes to horror games but I hope I can actually push through and beat it this time.
