Well that was a fail, even if it's a close one, the backlog still came out slightly on top. I managed to add less games than last year though.

I'm glad I managed to finish my 20/23 challenge, even though it was a way closer cut than last year. I think I'll take a break on challenges this year (except maybe to complete the Eight Years of BLAEO challenge). I might try to complete Lengray's tag challenge I started 3 years ago to then half forget about.

No real objectives for 2024 except continue to enjoy myself playing games, keep the additions to the backlog as controlled as possible and get a victory after the small failure of this year. Hopefully I do better. I might go back to Lengray's tag challenge and see if I make more progress on it than the one game I beat in 2023.

I realized writing this post and looking back on the one from last year that I didn't end up purging bad games I reviewed from my backlog, maybe I come around to finally do this in 2024.

You made me curious so I went to check back some of my own unfinished challenges, which on one hand made me find out that I did some progress on them without realising, and on the other hand I can 100% see why some of those picks are still unplayed. I too should do a game library purge again at some point…

EvilBlackSheep

I also made some progress without realizing, but as you said, a library purge is in order

Lengray

Congrats on your progress!
I’m glad to see you’re still very much into indie games. There’s a few on your list I haven’t heard of so I guess I’ll have to check them out :)
And yes, the Tag Challenge, an old idea of mine I kind of put aside but still kept in the back of my mind. Hopefully, this year will see it completed for us both.

EvilBlackSheep

Thank you!
Indie games will always have my heart. And then I play an AAA once in a while for good mesure. XD
Good luck with the tag challenge too. I have already beaten as many game from it than in 2023 (which is one, let’s not get super excited) and started another one. There is some hope. We’ll see how it went at the end of the year :)

I’ve also been making very slow progress on my ABC and Tag challenges, but I’m getting there.

Funnily enough, I didn’t want to change any games on my tag list, but I already had to replace one due to technical issues and I’ll very likely have to replace another due to receiving no early access updates in over 3 years now :)

EvilBlackSheep

I’m trying to resist changing games on the tag challenge too, but your reasons for it are totally unavoidable. I would recommend you do for that EA game because I actually played one in the past week that was still stuck in EA since we started that challenge… and it was serious underwhelming. The only reason i didn’t drop and replace it is that it only 3h long. Had it been longer I would have had to swap it for something fun. Thankfully i think it’s the only one that had the potential to disappoint on my list, so I got it out of the way now. We’ll see for technical issues.

You played some really amazing games in 2023, so I count that as the best victory of all!! :D

EvilBlackSheep

Aww thank you :3
