June’s Stats

aka. The sheep is a melted puddle of goo

Pathetic. There is no other word for it, I only finished 2 games this month (and played quite a lot of Subnautica and Borderlands 2). Real life bullshit has continued and intensified, and the heatwave is not helping either. On one hand it’s pushing you to stay inside but at the same time, the heat generated by the PC is not a welcome addition to the already hot air.

At least I managed to only add one game to the backlog as I caved into buying the Borderlands Handsome collection for super cheap, and I was kind of upset to add to the backlog a game I had already finished. Thankfully, GF also decided to get it and we started playing the whole thing co-op, which was really a lot more fun than I remembered. Didn’t help much with the backlog fight, but at least it helped a lot with having fun and getting my mind distracted from the real life BS. I haven’t bought anything yet in the Steam sales but that might change before it ends.

How was your month of June fellow assassins? Did you have to deal with the heatwave too? And most important question, did you buy yourself anything during the steam sales?

Flat Kingdom Paper's Cut Edition

11 hours playtime, 35 of 48 achievements

Somewhat classic 2D plateformer with a cute fantasy story. You keep acquiring new upgrades, that unlocks new mecanics as you progress. Nothing too innovative but an enjoyable game nonetheless.

Submerged

4 hours playtime, 9 of 10 achievements

Submerged was a really relaxing and refreshing walking/climbing game set in a flooded post apocalypse world. You play a young girl trying to collect different dropped ressources boxes from the pre apocalypse to save her injured little brother. You navigate your small boat from one building in ruin to another and find the path to climb to the top. I think the game is just the perfect length (finished it in about 4h) as it would maybe get a little repetitive had it been much longer. However it was a really nice experience as it is.

Rainy season has just started here so it’s not as hot as it was last month. June was ok. I managed to finish 2 short games, played in between Secret World Legends sessions. As for the sale, I bought Sunset Overdrive. So far it’s ok. I might buy another game before the sale ends. Still deciding between Ultimate Fishing Simulator and Megaquarium.

EvilBlackSheep

That sounds good! Megaquarium is that one by the devs of big pharma, right? If so, a friend of mine has it and seems to be enjoying it a lot :)

IcyGlare

Not really sure about the devs. I don’t usually play those management games, but from the reviews, Megaquarium seems casual enough to not cause frustration.

MouseWithBeer

Ahhhhhh that screenshot from Submerged makes me want to go play it again :) It really is a nice experience.

EvilBlackSheep

You should :) Did you get all the collectibles? It’s the only thing I didn’t have the courage to do. It was really relaxing though :3

MouseWithBeer

My backlog of 1300+ games digresses with that idea sadly :( Yup, I 100%ed the game :)

GiseIIe

It’s too hot here in Italy, goodbye my friends.
I wanted to be able get the 5€ discount for a DLC during the steam summer event, but this event is so bugged that my points shift multiple times a day, they go up and down like a rollercoaster, from 20k to 5k… so yeah, I’m probably not getting anything.

EvilBlackSheep

Oh yes, italy has been in the same package as us (I’m in the south of France) and Spain this last week it seems. We’ve reached 45.9°, I can’t wait that it starts to cool down a bit.

This whole sale event is such BS. It’s bugged, rigged and has little to zero interest. I feel like it’s been pretty much the worst sale event ever, including those clicker ones.

GiseIIe

Yesterday I stumbled upon this meme image about Spanish regions XD
Unfortunately this heatwave has reached everywhere, yesterday my family randomly decided to go on a mountain trip and it was 38°, time to leave the solar system I guess!

EvilBlackSheep

Before clicking I thought it was gonna be this one. Can’t tell you how excited I am to go to north mordor next week…

Forsaken

It’s very hot here and playing a demanding game like Assassin’s Creed Origins is definitely not helping it. It feels like I’m in an oven. However tomorrow a team will come to my house to check how they can install an air conditioner should I buy one from them. As soon as their assessment is complete and they confirm that it can be done I’m buying one.

I bought too many games during this sale, way too many games. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Gold Edition, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Antventor, SteelLife, Glass Masquerade Heritage DLC and Archaica: The Path of Light. If I can get 15k tokens to redeem for a coupon, I’ll get Stonewall Penitentiary. My backlog has gone off the rails and it’s been at its worst in a very long time…

Borderlands 2 is always more fun with a group. I’ve been stuck playing it solo and it can be boring and dull when Handsome Jack isn’t around to keep me company.

EvilBlackSheep

Yeah, I feel you, my PC frozen 2 or 3 times playing Borderlands 2 that I had to force reboot it or it just rebooted on itself, and i’m afraid it’s because of the heat. I keep it running to the minimum as I had power blocks die in summers way less hot than this one. And I assume you’re at the summer house, where it’s supposedly “fresher”? I hope they can install you the AC, I for sure regret to not have had mine recharged in time. That is pretty much me right now:

That sounds like a great list of games, I’ve been on the fence to give in already and buy A plague Tale, but i’m trying to be strong. I’m sure you’ll have your backlog under control in no time though, you’re always very good at it.

Sorry to hear you’re playing it solo, I thought you were co-oping. I remember the first time around (on 360) playing it with a friend up til a certain point and then soloing the end, and finding that part kinda dull and boring too. I think those games are not really made to play alone, even if you can. I had forgotten how funny the interactions with Jack were too.

Forsaken

I am not at the summer house. I stopped going there since… well you know… I don’t wanna have to deal with its endless internet issues, I need consistent internet as someone who works from home. So I’m at the winter house where 30 degrees can feel like 40 in my room not to mention in addition of the heat from the computer when it runs a demanding game. I hope that your computer will get through this.

I’m pretty sure A Plague Tale is worth its hefty price so I didn’t even wait for a bigger sale. I promised myself that I’d purchase it as soon as it got a sale, any sale even if it was 5% off. I’ll get to it after I 100% Origins. I already finished 2 of the games I purchased but I am not making enough progress due to my stubbornness about 100%ing Origins first. Odyssey will be even a bigger pain to complete. I think you’d agree as someone who recently played it.

Nope no co-op for me. Don’t have anyone for stuff like that. I’ve always been solo and solo I will continue. Jack really made it worthwhile though, it’s just seriously boring when he isn’t around or when you are grinding the same boss over and over again for an upgrade. I wanna play Borderlands 3 too even though Jack is not a part of it.

EvilBlackSheep

I forgot you had internet problems at the summer house (and yes it’s a pain to have fiddly internet when your work depend on it, I’ve been there for several months). If you’re still at the winter one, indeed you need AC asap, I hope it gets installed soon.

AC Odyssey was a blast, I don’t have the DLCs though so no 100% for me. I did farm for some very demanding cheevos though, so I already feel for you in advance. The whole game is worth it though.

You couldn’t interest Dogmas in playing Borderlands with you? The handsome collection has been really cheap lately (got it here for 3€ so i can imagine she should be able to find it cheap in her region too), as i’m pretty certain they’re trying to get people hyped for Borderlands 3.

Forsaken

I’m already not looking forward to Odyssey since I am not a fan of the naval missions and ship battles. I’m looking forward to the overall setting though. It’ll certainly take a lot of patience. Achievement guides estimate 75 hours or so for Origins (4/10 difficulty) while 90-100 hours for Odyssey (3/10 difficulty). That’s already a gigantic difference in game time. I believe some Odyssey DLCs aren’t even released yet so getting 100% won’t be permanent yet.

She has the game, we finished the campaign once two years ago or so. She is doing her own thing now.

I was working on getting some OP levels so I’m in way further in end game content. There are 10 of them now that Lilith DLC is released. Max level was 75 and game had 8 OP levels before. Right now max level is 80 and once you reach it you can unlock additional 10 OP levels. I reached 2 and kept dying to insanely stupid things like getting shot even though I’m hiding behind a rock and enemy doesn’t have explosive rounds so I gave up out of frustration. So my character is currently level 82 equipped with some OP 2 gear. I quit playing for now after starting Origins. I kinda wanna get back to it and see if I can get to OP 10 eventually when backlog becomes calmer. I’m doubtful though.

EvilBlackSheep

I’ve put 122 hours in Odyssey. Thankfully the naval missions can mostly be avoided, minus a few that are necessary for the storyline. It’s something I really never enjoyed in the AC series so I was glad for that. But yes it’s a very time consuming game, I won’t tell otherwise.

For Borderlands 2, we’re still far away from endgame content as we’re only level 28 now and not even done with the main story, let alone the DLCs. That being said, i’ve seen there is a “rainbow” cheevo related to the latest DLC and now i kinda want it very strongly.

Forsaken

Oh I can easily help you with that Rainbow achievement but you need to be a certain level to equip the items I have. It takes a lot of grinding because rainbow items have a very low drop chance. I farmed for quite some time to get them. I have a rainbow item for every slot and can easily help you get that achievement. I don’t remember their levels though I will check it out. I can’t play Origins anyway since Ubisoft has a serious issue going on right now so we can’t log into our accounts…

Edit: They are between 33-38 levels.

EvilBlackSheep

Thanks a lot for the offer, I’ll still quite a way from it but I should reach it by the time we’re done with all the story + sidequests+ DLC, I’ll DM you on discord when i’ll be ready, and if you still need help with farming stuff when my Zer0 is at a decent level, I’ll be glad to help :)

And why am i not surprised there is yet another problem with Uplay? facepalm

LastM

A friend sent me this earlier today. xD

EvilBlackSheep

Pretty much, yes, except for me the first line would read “All the new games I could have bought during the summer sale”. I think the heatwave (and the shit discounts on the stuff on my wishlist) are keeping me from feeding the backlog.

ninglor03

Yeah, it’s pretty hot over here too. Or was. Today absolutely not - I was just now running around in a jacket. But on the other hand I’m at home totally running around in super short dresses, BC IT’S FUCKING SUMMER! So yeah. I might freeze a bit, but that’s ok.
Also I love melting. Staying indoors, reading, gaming - a lot maybe <3

Sorry to hear, the BS is still happening. Hope it’ll get better soon :)
Happy to hear, you had a great time playing Borderlands! \o/

Additions? Nope, nothing here - so far. Bc the deals just don’t work out for me.
Also I have only added one game last month, so that is pretty sweet <3

Have a great July!

EvilBlackSheep

A JACKET? Lucky you. ;___; Also I don’t mind has much when I can stay inside but I had to help my sister move for the two peak days of the heat last week, that wasn’t as fun.

Congrats on keeping the backlog tamed, have a great July too.

ninglor03

Eh, no that doesn’t sound too much like fun o.O
Also yes, Jacket. I should have taken one going in town today. But for heavens sake, it’s summer! I refuse to take a jacket!

I’m actually very happy with last months progress… Arg, yeah. Sorry, no bragging runs away
