Yes, maybe I am indeed giving up way too easily on old games. Maybe I lack the motivation to fight myself through it - or even get it running properly to start with. This could all be true. Needless to say that the tutorial seemed nice enough - until I had to do the final mission. Which is not about the mission in itself, but more the circumstances which made me unlike it.
I couldn't get it bright enough to see anything rly. Yes, I saw different shades of gray - 50 maybe? Harhar - and I definitely saw the robot. But everything else was… yeah, black. I stumbled around in very much black indeed. Until the robot shot me. Suddelny the world was although tinged in red pretty clear to see! Somehow I doubt though I should run around and get shot by everybody just so I can see things. I tried following the instructions on the discussions. I failed. In the end I wanted to restart the game only to get an error message. So that was the point I stopped at. I never even got into the game. Yes, I gave up rather quickly.
I might retry it though, since kubikill pointed a mod out which might do the trick. Gosh, yes, I shall retry it. After I've beaten all my PoP games. I promise. So there will be another review on it. That is, if the mod works out for me :)

So I know some ppl think this game is heartbreaking. I can agree a bit. Not totally, but a bit. While it is indeed very sad to get swept away by a river. And loose your mom that way. Yes, that is sad. And the other part at the end is also… intense. I might have felt a bit heartbroken at first, when I realized I accidently picked the wrong side. Well at least for me there was only really one choice.
Apart from that it was a bit of a motion sickness struggle - yes, I totally forgot to use the wirstbands right from the start - and it was very beautiful again. In it's unique way. One thing that really confused me were the stars. Bc when you go out with your mum in the night and watch the stars, they look like stars, but once you're running around on your own they look like symbols. Mum = stars. Alone = smybols. What's going on here? thinking
So in the end I wasn't that emotionally involved as I expected. Still I enjoyed it. So in the end, all is fine :)
Recommendation? If you played the others, YES! <3

BATMAN!
So, bats is on the loose again! Or not again, but he just started! Which shocked me at first a bit, bc I suddenly doubted playing the games in the proper order. But no! It really is this way. Arkham Origins takes place ahead of the other two games! And was released later. No error on my part, just plain and simple fact. Ok, I can handle this - in fact it was nice to see the start of things. I hereby confess to be no Batman comic reader nor a big Batman movie watcher. I remember having seen some Batman movie as a kid - but can't rly remember it, apart from the cape and the car. Then there was catwoman (Halle Berry) and now the new Batman movies, which I indeed watched, but since I'm not rly familiar with the whole thing… it's mostly just a movie O.O
In short: I have no idea how this rly started. How Batman first met the Joker and all that. I mean, yes, I know bits and pieces, but not the whole picture. Same with Harley Quinn, I knew she was the Jokers psychiatrist, but I was not aware the Joker talked about his "relationship" with Batman and made her fall in love with him that way. I mean, I am pretty sure she fell in love with him bc of the story, bc she thought it was about her. Right. Anyway! Didn't know that.
So. We are flying around a lot - yes, I love flying around with Batman! Maybe I overdid it a bit, but I DON'T CARE! \o/
Lots of Riddler stuff to find, lots of bad guys to beat up - ugh, including multiple ways to day, Batman… - and story! I really liked the game! So far I liked every Batman game, so yay! But I hate the fighting. No, that's not true. I don't hate the fighting, I'm just incapable. I manage to get Batman killed. I manage to get him shot, stabed, beaten, electrecuted… yep, I totally did that. I guess I would even drown him… if he wasn't clever enough to grapnel himself out of the water. Go, boy!
Let's just face it. I am not good with fighting games. Fact. Period.
I might not be able to 100% games like this, but I think I can live with it. It's becoming less and less of a problem just letting it go. I take out of these games, what's fun for me, I do the not so fun parts to get the story done and it's fine. So yes, even with the fighting, 4 stars for Batman!
Btw: Why are all the Bat games so far in the winter? O.o
Recommendation? Yes!

Thanks again for picking this, stef, and sry for the trouble I caused you xD

Cat Story ahead!
Nope, sry

Will this be another month where I buy more games then beat? thinking

So I wanted to share something with you. I’m a Sims kiddo. I grew up with Sims and used to play basically nothing else – or if I did I can’t remember. Apart from playing Diablo (2?), Couterstrike and Serious Sam (yep, totally the game I first encountered Motion Sickness with) with my brother and his friends. I’m pretty sure there have been other games… but they are forgotten.
So Sims. Having played Sims a LOT, I often encounter this very, very weird weather nostalgia thing. What’s that you’re asking? Ok, so, brilliant, sunny day outside and I’m thinking: “Oh damn, this is a perfect day to play Sims!” That should be it, right? But no, I also have the same thing going on with rainy weather. And if it’s a gray autumn day and… well basically this happens a lot to me. But some days are more likely to cause that thought then others. Did you ever encounter something like that?
Side info: It doesn’t happen with night. Like: Wow, what a perfect Sims night! I guess bc I had to go to bed earlier since school – also back in the day there once was a time I had to play at my dads pc. And in his office room (?) which is open to the living room so I always had to listen to what ever my parents watched. Maybe I just didn’t do that that much :D

So much from me :)
Have a lovely week!

I had to chuckle a lot reading your Batman review. And I totally feel you. Having played quiet a few of them myself I still seem to be incapable to fight properly Batman style. And I usually don’t have a problem with fighting games. I literally grew up on street fighter. There are a few small boy souls that I crushed, because how can that girl be better than me 🤷🏻‍♀️

And I somehow had to think of you when I saw this yesterday.

ninglor03

Ahahaha, I like that!
Well I was totally the girl who was always playing with the best CS player, bc I was sooooooooo bad at it. I mean, plus side he was cute. Negative side: I was the little sis of his friend, soooo… nothing ever happened -.-

OMG! Yes, that’s soooo a thing! Although… yeah, they totally turn up once I’m back home. And that’s that :D

samwise84

well my best friend in kindergarten and elementary school happened to be a boy, who did not have a problem with me being a girl. But that did not mean that I was accepted by the rest of the boys XD
Well unless I kicked their asses in soccer or video games ^_^

and if you like the cat picture, do you know Buisness Cat ?

ninglor03

I guess I could have turned into such a girl. But then the only other girl who was accepted by boys that way left school and suddenly I was stuck in some place I didn’t know to handle.

Nope, didn’t know about that. But that’s such a cat thing! :D

samwise84

Yeah well, I was the only girl that was allowed to hang with the boys so…

Well check it out then. There are several hundred different pannels and most of them are supper funny.

ninglor03

Until I was 8 I used to hang out with boys and girls alike. It never really mattered. And then I move countries and school and everything turned out completely different. Suddenly it was pretty difficult to be friends with boys somehow o.o

I might do it. Could turn out, I’ve got too many games to play, to much to write and read. But I might :]

Cece09

I still get that with the sims. Not the whole weather situation you got going on though. I can completely forget sims exists then randomly it pops in my head and i want to play. However i know if i play im going to be spending days downloading mods for it since i loved the sims 2 mods.

I do own sims 4 but i played that like 3 times all in separate years and just couldn’t get into it. Its kinda just turned into one of those games where its great to watch youtubers play but boring to actually play

ninglor03

Oh gosh, yes. Sims 2 was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…! <3
Although I have the full thingy, it was broken, so I can’t seem to play it anymore :(

So instead I still like 3 the best. I loved letting my sims jog all over the place. And DAMN! they could drive!
4 was somehow a step back in a way? I still like it, but I’m not that much into it as I was ever in 1, 2 and 3. Which…. Maybe I just shouldn’t spend more money on it and just play 3 thinking Seems like the smart thing here :D

Cece09

I dont like the look of the sims in sims 3 but i watched kppop play it and it seemed fun. As someone said they needed to have the look of sims 2, the open area of sims 3 and the moods and junk from sims 4.

Sims 3 did seem the most fun with the open world and events happening. Wasnt just boring im stuck at home unless i spend ages going to a nightclub for a couple of minutes

ninglor03

Yes! But the best things from all Sims Versions into one game pls! <3

Kyrrelin

Thanks for the Deus Ex! :)
I can understand you. I think it was really pretty dark sometimes. :D
I remember that in some areas I did few steps, stopped, lit the light to see the right direction, switched off, took few steps and repeat. X) But I am really masochist and I play games in horrible states sometimes. ;D S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was really funny XD
Let us know, if you try it someday again. ;)

ninglor03

I was super irritated tbh. They told me in Deus Ex, I could take out cameras. So when I played Batman I somehow wanted to take down the cameras. Somehow never worked. Somehow was irritated :D
Until I realized it was a Deus Ex thing and not a Batman thing xD

Yeah, but it just can’t be intended to walk around places where you can actually see a light but you still can see shit. Nope, I don’t think that’s what was planned.
But I’ll work on bringing light into it! \o/

Vito

Yeah, I couldn’t get into Deus Ex either. I played with mods installed, which made the game well enough to play through it, but all the time my only thought was “I hope this is over soon”. As great as it may be for others, it wasn’t for me either. But…there is always other games to play instead :)

ninglor03

Yes, but don’t tell others I said this!
How long did it take you in the end?

Vito

24 hours over the span of a few month iirc. Too long!

ninglor03

Mhm. Ok. That’s not THAT bad. Looking at HLTB I expected way more. But then… my gaming style might just suck and maybe I just can’t do it as quickly :D

Vito

I heavily relied on a walkthough and skipped unnecessary stuff as much as I could.

ninglor03

Sometimes this is the wisest move ever!
I decided to do this with certain Point&Click games, bc currently I’m not that much into point and click… oh right, just finished one and apparently it’s en exception from the rule :D
But yeah, I guess I’d do the same with Deus Ex. Not bc I don’t want to play it - obv or I wouldn’t even try it - but bc I feel like old games are a struggle and a bit of a pain in the butt o.o

Man, this post felt like I was on an adventure, in particular the Batman review. Glad you were able to join yet another manbat game, does this mean you will be moving onto Arkham Knight next? “I manage to get him shot, stabed, beaten, electrecuted” It’s probably fair enough since he breaks so many bones on his enemies, plus he can take it ;). Unfortunately, it is hard to %100 this game in particular due to the multiplayer achievements. Though it seems you are getting better at moving on and becoming okay with not fully completing, so that’s good, I can’t say the same for myself unfortunately eyes the Arkham Origin challenges. Also, fairly certain only Arkham Origins takes place in Winter, Arkham City only gets snowy from the cold boi, Mr. Freeze… though I kaybe wrong because I couldn’t find a definitive timeline for that specific game. (Alternatively it’s whatever season you play it in due to Calendar Man’s reactions toward the nearest IRL Holiday.)

I never really got into the Sims myself, only a few weekends with the cousin of Sims 2, but I have a good froend now that was a Sims kiddo. She does the same thing where she will just take a random day (“oh it’s nice out…”,”seems to be stormin’…”,”What a bad day…”, “What a great day..” all leading into “… time to olay Sims” and then proceeds to play it for hours on end), so I’m pretty sure that the Sims has just conditioned or brainwashed you all to do this… or maybe we are all just Sims being played by Omniscient Overlords (What is free will?). I don’t think, I quite get the same feeling though, usually just get giant cravings for a random game while at work and proceed NOT to play it when I get home.

Anyways thanks for another wonderful post, needed this to get through the day and finally something I felt like replying to! \○/

ninglor03

Ah, no there is first the… ehm… Arkham Origins Blackgate thing? I think?
Yeah, basically the MP cheevos made it easier to end it at that point. Bc I won’t do them. So I’ll not 100% it anyways. And. Yeah. I just have to accept, I can’t do everything. It’s like in RL, I can’t do everything and that’s ok. So it’s the same with games. Yes, I enjoy it, but why torture myself (and especially my thumps since I’m playing with controller) to get some achievements, that in the end don’t mean a thing? OMG! Did I really write that? panic
Mhm. Dunno rly. I played two Batman games so far and I’m pretty sure they both where in the winter somehow. Not Christmas like Origins, but snow, cold and frozen water. And I don’t think it was all thanks to Mr Freeze. But! Interesting. The part about the Calendar Man. Although it sure doesn’t apply with this one :D

Haha, yeah, both brainwashed and totally controlled by some entity. Although I always imagined, we are living in a big box and a giant controlls everything. (Aka, that’s why ppl came up with God. There is in fact somebody sitting up there and occasionally opening the lid to have a glance at us humans crawling around :D )
But I’m pretty sure Sims conditions gamers. At least if you’re really into it. If you can play hours and hours and enjoy it. If you’re at that point… you’re lost and every weather is Sims weather. You just have to keep kicking and struggling to not fall into the trap. I’m doing good on that front atm. Although seeing ppl on Discord playing it… it’s though :D

Aw, no, sorry to hear you’re not doing so good atm. But glad I could cheer you up a bit! \o/
Just so you know: Next week there will be a little cat story, so you can look forward to that ;)

Bangledeschler

I thought that you might skip Origins Blackgate for that series, but I should honestly know better. Very interested to hear about your combat experience when you make your way through that :3. “achievements… don’t mean a thing…” Hmmm… must have had some interference when sending your message, there is no possible way that those digital messages of emptiness could possibly be meaningless continues to be in denial while feeding the completionist monster inside.

Looks at spoiler and ponders whether to prepare a fish or saucer of milk ^_^

ninglor03

Nohohohohoho way! Look at me and the AC games! I even played Liberation and Freedom Cry! I’d never do that.
(Also I would never have done it with the Hitman, Deus Ex and Thief Series… if only I had started AT THE START! hits past me )
Yeah, dunno. There was an internal, major error O.O
My completionist monster made me hunt 100 Frogs in Paws though. AND run for half an hour through puffballs. Which is - honestly - rly stupid. Why. Would. I. Do. This? Oh. Right. ACHIEVEMENTS! \o/

Best being prepared, I totally agree :D
Stay tuned in. Next week more on that subject ;)
