Hello everybody! Today I present the final format for my challenge. I had some time between minutes and it ended like this, trying to keep the categories I set up last time (Big names, short games, things I think I will like, and bundle lefovers I did not know much about) . I also reduced my assassination target for this year, as troublesome times are coming (Extra advanced trainings and stuff that will absorb a lot of time), so it went down to 60 games from the grid, and we will see how it goes.

I will be adding 5 new games every month to the “to play” list. February ones were already stated last time, from the comments of you people.

Now, for this report, I will only comment one game, but it’s a big one…

Let me state this. This is a big game. VERY big. Probably it's size it's the main issue I had with it. I will analyze it a bit more than usual since it's a big name game, but will try to keep it short:

POSITIVES

  • It's fun to play. Combat is good, overall gameplay is very good if you avoid the grindy, repetitive parts. There are some epic fights in this game.

  • It looks very good. I felt it was a bit a downgrade from Origins, but it's beautiful, and the ancient Greece setting was very well done, IMO.

  • I found the story to be quite decent. I mean, it's still bullshit, like every other AC game story before, but it's at least bearable and does not get in the way of the enjoyment. I actually liked how the linked myth with AC lore.

  • The Fate of Atlantis DLC is the single best DLC I played since Blood and Wine from the Witcher 3. It's huge, it's beautiful (OMG Elysium) and it's fun to play in. It does not feel cheap at all like the first DLC.

  • Sokrates

  • Got to kill all those malákas

NEGATIVES

  • The world is too big. Half the areas are totally empty, with almost nothing to do, which makes them feel like filler. If you are not going to properly use every area, just make it smaller, but richer in detail.

  • I did not like the main characters. I played as Kassandra, which seems to be the canon, and It's not that bad, but Bayek from Origins was hugely superior as a main character. Where he was believable and developed, with clear personality and motives, Kassandra felt plain and uninspired, where most quests only involve her a "mercenary", without any real personal involvement.

  • Forts and camps are very repetitive, but it's easily avoidable, since only some quests make you go to them, and you can skip most of them with no real impact.

Resuming, I find the pros of this game superior to the cons. I love AC games, and I've played all of them. While this one is not really a "proper AC" in terms of gameplay, I liked how it linked the story together and enjoyed my playtime with it.

FINAL SCORE: 9/10

Oh fancy!

Thank you! It’s nothing special, but I like playing with formats for some strange reason :_(

Traqie

Did you picked games yourself or was there some picking phase here I missed? What games hide behind those numbers?

Elvidur

The games were the 100 remaining in my backlog. I separated them into 4 categories (AAA/AA, short, games I want to play, and the rest) and assigned numbers to them. I chose 5 for the first batch, between the ones I already had installed, and the second batch I asked in my last post for advice about what other people enjoyed. No bigger mistery, and I don’t have uploaded the full list I’m afraid :_(

Jaded

It looks really cool, but I have no idea how to decipher this graph!
I’m also currently going through the Fates of Atlantis DLC, it is very beautiful! I’ve just made it to the Underworld so it’s not as pretty at the moment.

Elvidur

The underworld was not beautiful, but the design is very good anyway! Creepy is what you’d expect of that place :D. I also enjoyed the last maps a lot, you’ll see!

The grid is nothing special, numbers represent games from my personal list (Full name was not viable due to space), and colors represent status (Green = finished, yellow = ongoing…)

EvilBlackSheep

Look at that fancy grid!! (I love it) And congrats on finishing AC Odyssey

Elvidur

Thank you! At least it will be a nice visualization of my progress. Odyssey was veeery long, and even if I loved it, games can really be too long and exhausting. As I grow old I have less time and patience for these everlasting campaigns…

Forsaken

I’d add Alkibiades to positives :D :D He is the only part I liked about Odyssey, though Atlantis DLC was certainly enjoyable as well.

Normally forts would be my most favourite places since they provide so much opportunity for my stealth gameplay but Odyssey really ruined stealth by not making hidden blade takedowns instantaneous. Even though I exclusively focused on stats/abilities regarding stealth and melee takedowns and wore equipment to keep boosting hidden blade/stealth damage I still couldn’t one-shot commanders and officers in forts. I remember an equipment or a stat that had a “chance” to do double hidden blade damage or something and everytime I sneaked upon an enemy I’d hope the rng was on my side for it to trigger.

Origins for me is a much better game in every way compared to Odyssey. If you didn’t upgrade your hidden blade in Origins, some enemies would still not be knocked out when you did a melee takedown but it was much more forgiving. If you kept up with upgrades you’d always one-shot your enemies. Odyssey turned them into “hidden blade” sponges, especially the mercenaries. I remember stealth melee attacking and hiding and then stealth melee attacking a mercenary over and over again like 8-9 times or so until I killed him/her. The whole stealth in Odyssey was just so annoying and I didn’t enjoy myself at all. I was so glad to be done with the game when I 100%ed it.

Towards the end I found that even with full warrior equipment, with the critical assassination skill and the engrave for +40% assassin damage fron behind, only polemarchs and some very high health commanders would survive, normal officers went down easily. Finally I just killed everyone else and then attacked the commanders, in case they would survive the initial hit. Anyway, this is a very annoying part of the game, it feels cheap that you cannot kill something by slicing their throat only once….
