Update 6: Games I played in March 2019

First the “good” news: Only 1 more game won and no new purchases since the last update, but I activated two older keys :-/

New win :

  • Grand Theft Auto III
    Grand Theft Auto III

    0.0 hours playtime

    no achievements

Redeemed older keys:

So this puts me at a total of 16 wins/new purchases/old keys redeemed this month and I completed/beaten 5 games this month + 1 I won’t be playing again anytime soon (too boring) and 1 that I’m still trying to beat. So this still leaves me with a +10 for this months backlog. Could have been worse :-/

Now to the games I played this month:

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock

8/10
2.1 hours
16 of 16 achievements

The only game I completed this month. A good point-and-click adventure with a nice Sci-fi story. It's on the shorter side, but that's not necessarily bad. The puzzles are not too hard and if you get stuck you can get help from your Captain.

Did the following games for Play or Pay:

Deadlight

Deadlight

9/10
6.2 hours
30 of 31 achievements

Liked it a lot. I played it with a controller and some of the precision shots are nearly impossible to do with controller. I had to use the mouse for this. Other then that I had a lot of fun with it. Some of the QET were also not too easy, but with enough patience I solved all.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

9/10
32.1 hours
23 of 60 achievements

Liked it a lot. Never got used to blocking the enemies though. But I am proof that even without good blocking the game can be beaten, it's just a lot harder :D
I also see strong resemblances between the Senator Armstrong and the current US president.

Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2

10/10
55.9 hours
30 of 69 achievements

Loved the game. Nearly finished all quests. Am really hard thinking about getting the season pass for it, just so that I can play some more.

And I did the following games for Challenge Me:

Back to Bed

Back to Bed

7/10
2.9 hours
16 of 20 achievements

Solid puzzle plattformer. Isn't too hard, at least outside of Nightmare mode.
Haven't tried Nightmare mode yet.

35MM

35MM

4/10
1.0 hours
3 of 20 achievements

Walking-Sim that is only available in Russian with bad English subtitles. After an hour I was so bored I gave up. A lot of running around with not a lot to do.

And a last one I have not finished yet:

Stories: The Path of Destinies

Stories: The Path of Destinies

9/10
7.9 hours
31 of 37 achievements

Not quite finished yet. Will finsih it this month. Really like it so far. A bit like Groundhog Day. Just funnier XD

All in all a really good month game wise.

Borderlands 2 has pretty solid DLCs, they’re worth it. And you get 2 new classes as well, I haven’t played Psycho much but I liked the Mechamancer.
The Handosme Collection bundle is a really great deal right now, might be worth getting that instead.

samwise84

Thanks for the recommendation :)

I don’t recall finding nightmare mode of Back to Bed too difficult. Stories sounds intriguing. I have it on my backlog, I may have to play it for the monthly theme.
Edit: Aww it’s not tagged as funny :(

samwise84

I played it in one sitting directly after my last nightshift of a six day rotating shift cycle. It might have been why I was not playing the nightmare mode afterwards . Just tried like the first few chapters. Might pick it up again later just to complete it.

And Stories is a lot of fun. The single stories, there are 24 storyarcs I think, are not too long, always 5 chapters of in total about 20-30 minutes, depending if you explore everything.
And when I say funny, what I really mean not in funny “haha”, but more like the narrator is really snarky, always making fun of himself. But I can really recommend it :)

petpasta

I loved 35MM for its atmosphere despite pretty much everything else being horrendous.
And yeah, let me say this as a native speaker, the russian dialogue is pretty bad (as in cheesy and badly written) on its own most of the time, so let’s just say we both get the short end of the stick in some way anyway.

samwise84

It was really just not my cup of tea. The atmosphere was okayish, but there was so much potential there…Maybe it was not a good idea to play it directly after Borderlands XD

And as for the language, if you just offer subtitles you should at least make sure that the words you are using exist and make sense. And if you have no one in your team, ask the community. Usually you have someone willing to help ;)

LastM

Most DLCs from borderlands 2 aren’t that memorable, but I highly recommend Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. It is so funny. By far, the best DLC.

Vito

I second that!

samwise84

Oh I can imagine. Tiny Tina is a hilarious XD

Interesting mix of games! Stories seems adorable. Deadlight & MGR: Revengeance are also on my to play someday. And no surprise, many folks are replaying the Borderlands series especially with the new announcement! I’m hyped too.

I also see strong resemblances between the Senator Armstrong and the current US president.

Lol. Oh Trump.. I hate his guts

samwise84

Well I was challenged to play Borderlands XD
Since most of my backlog are games I’d like to play someday or am interested about, but I am also really bad at deciding what to play, I like it when other people challenge me to play something.

And as for the Trump connection, Senator Armstrong really made a long speach towards the end of how he was going to make America great again. I was not sure if Trumps writer was a fan or it was pure coincidence …

moonie

Ah I see! Challenges can be fun, plus yeah, sometimes you need other people’s suggestions or guidance to help you with what games to play next. :)

I was not sure if Trumps writer was a fan or it was pure coincidence …

Heh, that made me chuckle. My guess is probably the latter, but who knows, maybe Trump and his speech writer secretly played the game, and thought yeah… ‘Let’s be corrupt & evil!’

Anyway, thanks for the chat & keep up the progress!

samwise84

You are welcome and I’ll try :)

EvilBlackSheep

Tiny Tina’s borderlands 2 DLC is one of my favourite DLC ever, so I strongly recommend this one. A lot of the others are not really necessary but it might be worth looking into the current steam promo (the bundle that gets cheaper with everything you already own) as it’s probably way more discounted than the season pass itself (which doesn’t even includes everything)

samwise84

Thanks for mentioning that promo. Wasn’t aware of it.
