Alright alright alright i finally “completed” Terraria! Completed as in i finished 200 angler quests and oh boy was it harder than Moon Lord itself.

Since setting my new year resolution to not buying any games other than upcoming Yakuza games this year, I downloaded some of my dusty games. I was really temped to buy some games few times but I didn’t cave in, yet… I’m planning on earning the last achievement in Hotline Miami 2 which is getting A+ in all levels and I’m already halfway done. Oh I also started a new Stardew Valley playthrough, which i hope will result in me completing every achievement in the end.

A question: Should I allow myself DLC purchases for my existing games? There is a new Isaac DLC coming out in March.

The Angler quests… I cheated haha. Fished multiple items a day using the piggy bank thing and storing them all in the multiple chests I had next to him.
Made that quest easy.. Sorry :P

Oh good luck with Stardew achievements!

Hmm depends - if you are going to play the game straightaway, I don’t see why you shouldn’t purchase the DLC. Maybe wait for reviews first if new?

Cat Grips

Hah I might have used a similiar method for the last few (like 5….. ok 50) quests so it’s all good! I realized I’m missing a lot of DLCs for my current games so maybe this year will be my chance to complete those for the games I enjoy.

Murder is Meat

I mean, if you are already playing it on the regular, I dpn’t see why not allow yourself to add a bit of variety of Isaac.

Cat Grips

Yes yes good point, I still haven’t done much of the afterbirtth+ so I will have a lot more to do considering they say this DLC will be like sequel-sized

Congratz on completing Terraria!

I’m not as strict as you, but I really try to get as few new games as possible…but I think DLCs are an exception, because you already own the game and why not make your gaming experience better if you play the game anyway?

Cat Grips

That is a good point of view, thanks!

Should I allow myself DLC purchases for my existing games?

Funny you ask that! I made a bet with my kids [details here] and then the Humble store winter sale started. I asked my kids if the bet would be off if I got a few DLCs for games I already owned. They said it was fine as it’s just extended time of game I already own.
And congrats on Terraria. I’ve still to start up the game :)

Cat Grips

Haha I’ve read the details, looks like we are in the same boat! First month is done already, good luck on the remaining 11 months

Spitfyr

If you like to play the game in the near future then why not. It does not really increase you backlog but most of the games will be better with DLCs.

Cat Grips

Thanks for the opinion! Have a nice day

EvilBlackSheep

Congrats on completing Terraria, I’ve been playing it so much yet I still have to go back and farm that angler cheevo of doom.

And YES you should allow yourself to buy DLCs. They don’t really count as a +1 anyway. Right?

Cat Grips

Thankie sheep! I decided to complete my missing DLCs this year. I feel like I’ve found a loophole to spend money on games…

EvilBlackSheep

If it makes you feel better it’s a loophole most of us use. Also i’m PRETTY SURE there is some unspoken rule about Isaac DLCs being mandatory. (Yes it is what i tell myself)

Cat Grips

I think you might be right, I DO remember a rule like that, yes yes…

tubberware

Should someday return to Terraria. Used to play it a lot when it was v1.1, I guess. Missing all of the achievements because of it.

Cat Grips

I’d say game really changed a lot with thousands of neat little stuff. It looks better animation-wise and it certainly has a lot more to do compared to a few years back.
