Report #0

Well, here goes nothing.

Hi everyone. Happy to join you all here (since June of last year actually, but real life happened, so I mostly lurked here from time to time instead of doing something).
Anyway, backlog is big, life is busy, and I am a slow gamer, so I don’t expect to pull more than 20 games per year in next couple years. Given that my library size is slowly, but steadily approaching 4 digits, I’m gonna be doing this for a while…
I suppose I might start putting out some assassinations quite soon, so if you know any resources to make posts as awesome as some people here manage to do, I’d appreciate if you’d send me a link.

I have no idea how people do their posts but I know a lot of people, including myself use this

Thanks for help! I’ll defeinitely be checking it out.

Elvidur

I agree, that generator is very nice for making easy posts :D. Anyway, the important part is the content, so don’t worry too much! Welcome back to this site

sallachim

Even more encouragement to check the generator out.
I feel welcomed now :3

Ah, fellow sufferer.

Welcome aboard and I do hope this places motivates you like it did for me.

sallachim

Well, it’s not like I have many games I wouldn’t want to play someday, which eases the suffering a bit. But also fuels it, by me adding more games I want to play :o

Lengray

Welcome to BLAEO again! Any progress towards the end of the backlog is good, be it slow or not.
The post generator is very well done and if you want more and are a little familiar with coding, you coud ask a fellow member whose post formatting you like to “borrow” the code.

I tried to do cjcomplex’s Monthly in a month 3 times, and I’m a moron, cause I should have seen it after 1st attempt - I’m very slow in gaming. Trying to go through games quickly just stresses me out, because normally playing for me is sort of, as if I was tasting and contemplating expensive meal. Exploring the map, in-game abilities, playing around with anything I want, that sort of stuff. What I want to say is - it’s either slow (but enjoyable) playing for me, or no enjoyment at all. So even though it’s possible for me to clear my backlog faster, I don’t really want to ^^
As for asking for other peoples’ code, I think I’ll see what I can achieve with generator myself first (to be properly impressed by cool posts of course)

Trent

Welcome, sallachim! Looking forward to reading your reports. Enjoy the backlog killing!

sallachim

We’ll see if this attitude lasts after 1st wall of text post :p

samwise84

Welcome to BLAEO, have fun assassinating your bakclog :D

sallachim

As I mentioned when answering Lengray above - I wouldn’t have it any other way. :D

Vito

Welcome (back)! Better to pull 20 games you enjoy than playing 100s you hate ;) Good luck fighting your backlog!

sallachim

A sensible approach - I like it! (probably because I tried rushing playing games before and disliked the experience immensly)

Hello and welcome to blaeo!

Cece already pointed out the generator, otherwise you can most of the times ask ppl about their code and they are willing to share or help - at least in my experience from the start xD

Good luck with your games. Also 20 games per year sounds awesome to me! Considering there was a time in my life where I only played one game all year long and that had no ending… o.O
Also short games can actually increase the beaten rate xD

If you need motivation to play stuff there is always the monthly theme or the Challenge Me, where you can ask for five picks by another member of the community.
Or just have a look at what ppl do, some have some pretty neat plans going on :3

Have a great time playing all the games!
Happy backlog killing \o/

sallachim

Well, 20 games is an ideal state (at about 1 game per 2 weeks, plus some time (13 weeks) for unexpected things). For the last 3 years I had ~12 games per year, so I was thinking about actually putting some shorter games to play to get the count up to 20 in the first place. Overall beaten rate is of little concern to me right now, mainly because any significant milestone is very far in the future right now :D

Regarding plans, I already have too many. Play by bundle bought, play from oldest titles, play unfinished, play never started, play by store where I bought stuff, play multiplayer games…
At this point, I need to actually dedicate myself to a plan instead of looking for new ones :p
And actually - I have done so. More on that on the next report?

ninglor03

Aha! Well that’s a good start, taking the short(er) ones into account :D

Yeah, I feel you. I’m often bouncing around between my plans. Like play for PoP, play for PAGYWOSG, maybe do blaeo monthly and CM and oh right, I also have the ABC challenge still going and my batch and I wanted to just play what ever I felt like this year…..! shock

Looking forward to your next report then xD

Welcome to BLAEO! This site will help you for sure with your backlog. Hope that reading all the people fighting their backlog here will motivate you. Happy gaming!

sallachim

Be it envy or encouragement, getting motivated is one thing I hope for. But celebrating together makes victories taste sweeter, so that’s also something to look forward to. :)

EvilBlackSheep

Welcome to BLAEO, happy gaming! Good luck with your goal, 20 games a year is already a good pace if you’re a slow gamer/don’t have much time :)

sallachim

Thanks! And oh, I know it’s a good pace, because I had achieved a pace of about 12 games a year for last 3 years, but back then I wanted to have more time instead of actually wanting to use time I had more effectively, so after changing my approach to things, I think I can actually do it.
