March's Theme: Lucky Number Three
Games

This list is always under construction. Post your suggestions for other games fitting this month’s theme as a reply here - games from trilogies or with exactly 3 characters to play/switch between during gameplay.
Reply to the first reply if you spot a game that you think shouldn’t be on this list.

You can use revilheart’s Checker to see which games have been added since the last update and which games you own (may need to be updated first).
I won’t count who played how much this month, but please let us know if you’re participating and which game(s) from the list you beat (the first one is enough).

Please note that some games have regional variants (due to violence etc.) - so it may be in your library, but with a different AppID.
Thanks to everyone suggesting games for this theme! <3

Reply here if something’s not right

Hmm, maybe I should finally play KOTOR…or Trine.

Lucky Thirteen

Some trilogies that come to mind:

Small Town Terrors (1, 2, 3)
Enigmatis
Risen (1, 2, 3) <- these are 3rd person games, too
Gothic

Edit: Also, Deep Dungeons of Doom has 3 characters. It’s a pretty fine hack-and-slash dungeon crawler, it was free somewhere at some point, so a lot of people might own it :)

Edit #2: Oh my, how could I forget?! Thief is also a trilogy (1,, 2, 3), if we think of the 2014 game as sort of a “reboot” rather than a 4th game in the series.

Dandey

Dark souls? :D

Lucky Thirteen

Placeholder table, going to update as I play the games for the theme (hopefully I’ll play more than one, haha!)

Game Status
Small Town Terrors: Galdor’s Bluff CE Beaten
Weird Park Trilogy Beaten
Twisted Lands Trilogy Collector’s Edition Beaten

Uh, not sure about location, but I will totally participate this time again!

Thank you for hosting, Nelly!

This post will be updated - unless I’m wrongly located, then… not :D

So, I have completed three games:

Small Town Terrors Pilgrim’s Hook CE - no cheevos
Small Town Terrors: Livingston - no cheevos
Small Town Terrors: Galdor’s Bluff CE - no cheevos

I would consider TLJ, + Dreamfall: TLJ + Dreamfall: Chapters a trilogy.

Trent

That’s probably reasonable, as they are three games in the same universe. If I recall correctly, though, I don’t think the devs thinks of them as a trilogy…Dreamfall: TLJ and Dreamfall: Chapters constitute the “Dreamer cycle” (Zoe’s story), but TLJ is not. But for these purposes, it’s probably reasonable– especially since DF and DFC have three playable characters and so are “eligible” anyway. :)

ninglor03

Noticed the Queen Nin’s Quest just now! <3

Trent

<3 =)

Girlbeard

The three Risen games are (obviously) a trilogy. They are also third person games, so bonus three-ness!

Risen

Risen 2: Dark Waters

Risen 3: Titan Lords

Edit: Another trilogy is the Book of Unwritten Tales series.

The Book of Unwritten Tales games, not quite a trilogy (yet), but there are three of them and you can switch between three characters:

The Danganronpa games are a trilogy as well + a spinoff:

World End Economica has three episodes:

This questionable visual novel has three episodes as well:

Telltale’s The Walking Dead might fit if you consider A New Frontier the third season.

Guille36

Final Fantasy 13 trilogy:
FINAL FANTASY® XIII
FINAL FANTASY® XIII-2
LIGHTNING RETURNS™: FINAL FANTASY® XIII

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky trilogy:
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd

Secret of Mana has 3 main/playable characters
Epic Battle Fantasy 4 also has 3 playable characters

Now to decide which of theses Ill play…

JaffaCaffa

Yeah I was just thinking of the Trails in the Sky trilogy, won the first one and still really wanna play it.

GiseIIe

Muv-Luv is considered by many a trilogy: Muv-Luv has part 1 and 2 (Extra and Unlimited), while Alternative is the 3rd

PapaSmok
  • Abyss Odyssey has 3 playable characters, technically you switch character after you die, and there is co-op pas well (but noone is online 😟)
  • Alien Breed has a trilogy (it also has co-op mode but I’m not sure for how many people)
  • Bioshock and F.E.A.R. - might be considered as trilogies

No Valve game will fit this theme unfortunately 🙃

If someone is interested, some visual novels in 3rd person narrative that are currently on Steam are (may add more later):

I decided to list only vns that are fully in 3rd person narrative, not partially.
If I made a mistake please reply to this post.

Some series that I think are all trilogies:

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
  • Sniper: Ghost Warrior
  • Max Payne
  • Brothers In Arms (maybe?)
  • Witcher

What about series where all titles aren’t available on Steam?

  • Dead Space
  • Samorost

A few trilogies that come to mind:
Mass Effect (1,2,3)
Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy (2, Brotherhood, Revelations)
The Mafia series (consists of 3 games but I don’t know if they’re stopping there, does that count? If so, 1, 2, 3)

ninglor03

Isn’t Assassin’s Creed way bigger the a trilogy? Do games count that have more parts then three? O.o

malabagaa

How come nobody mentioned the Half Life trilogy yet? :v

adil

Wouldn’t NieR:Automata fall into the triple characters to play with?
I only started it so I can’t confirm that fact, but I’ve read this online and it is said on this wiki too (but don’t click if you don’t want to be spoiled, I guess?).

And yeah, I just bought it on sale and plan to play it so it would be a nice bonus if it was a monthly theme game as well :D

Hawkeyebrow

Would Deponia series count as a trilogy?
I mean if I played the “original” trilogy, so “Deponia”, “Chaos on Deponia” and “Goodbye Deponia”. Apparently “Deponia Doomsday” was only created after the first three games were finished and considered a closed trilogy, so although it’s technically the fourth game in the series, it’s more a stand-alone sequel then part of the “true” series. (It would be nice if someone who played them all could verify this)

Hawkeyebrow

And surely-a-trilogies that haven’t been posted by others yet:
Grim Legends which are quite good HOGs that I can recommend.
Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride
Grim Legends 2: Song of the Dark Swan
Grim Legends 3: The Dark City

Age of Empires is still a trilogy!
The first part isn’t available on Steam
But the iconic second one is
And slightly less acclaimed but still quite enjoyable third

Telltale’s “Hector” has three episodes.

Sacred Citadel is listed, but the “normal” Sacred also has three parts.
Sacred 1
Sacred 2
And very negatively reviewed Sacred 3

malabagaa

Batman Arkham? Aren’t Asylum, City and Knight a trilogy?
Origins doesn’t count as it’s made by different people =P (or does it?)

Darksiders (Warmastered edition), 2 and 3

Lara Croft GO, Hitman GO, Deus Ex GO (Not on Steam)

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, India, Russia.

Earth 2150 Trilogy

Galactic Civilization I II III

GRID, 2, Autosport

Just Cause, 2 and 3.
Mafia, 2 and 3.

Metro 2033, Last Light and Exodus.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior is a trilogy
Syberia too is a trilogy

Oh, just started The Marvellous Miss Take and you play as 3 thieves (one per time though, can’t switch in the middle of a level)

Vito

Maybe the Runaway games?

Runaway, A Road Adventure
Runaway, The Dream of The Turtle
Runaway: A Twist of Fate

Also, Fable:

Fable - The Lost Chapters
Fable II and Fable III are not on Steam afaik

JaffaCaffa

I just completed Zoombinis (end screen), which is the first of a trilogy! Though the others aren’t on Steam.

I beat Grim Legends all the way through two more times in order to 100% it.

Beat Cooking Academy Fire and Knives.

Started playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, but had to put it on hold for now because I’m really not felt well and wanna enjoy it. Still priority to carry on once things improve a little.

godprobe

Penumbra (Overture, Black Plague, Requiem expansion) is something of a trilogy.
Also, Commander Keen is a “trilogy” I remember enjoying (and even beating!) back in the day. Marooned on Mars, The Earth Explodes, and Keen Must Die! are all part of Invasion of the Vorticons, which is packaged with Goodbye Galaxy in the base Commander Keen game on Steam. As a kid, I never owned Goodbye Galaxy, or any of the further Keen games, so I feel safe in claiming that Invasion of the Vorticons qualifies as a trilogy.
Outside of Steam, there’s also Diablo.

Detective Draco

Does Bioshock Infinite count as part of a trilogy? I might start it soon if it does.

Garcias

So I think Tomb Raider belongs in here since it’s a trilogy (including Rise of the Romb Raider and the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider) and it’s 3rd person. If so I think I’m finally back to participating in a monthly theme :D

MouseWithBeer

Cooking Academy Fire and Knives - which is a pack of 3 different games - Cooking Academy, Cooking Academy 2 and Cooking Academy 3. Annnnd I have completed the whole thing.
